5-star CB Dorian Brew to announce commitment soon; Oregon Ducks among finalists

The Oregon Ducks are among the finalists to land 5-star cornerback Dorian Brew, who will announce his commitment later this month.

The Oregon Ducks have a chance to land a massive recruit in the coming days, with one of the best defensive backs getting set to announce his commitment later this month.

5-star cornerback Dorian Brew announced that he will make his verbal commitment on January 24th, deciding between the Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Texas Longhorns, and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Brew stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, and is rated as the No. 4 CB and the No. 15 overall player in the 2025 class.

At the moment, the Ducks have the No. 11 class in the nation for the 2025 cycle, with four commitments. Should Brew commit to Oregon, he would be the first defensive member of the class.

Georgia football offers 5-star 2025 CB Dorian Brew

Georgia football offers 5-star 2025 CB Dorian Brew

Class of 2025 cornerback recruit Dorian Brew received a scholarship offer from Georgia football on Thursday.

Brew (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) is one of the top cornerback recruits in his class. The Conroe High School (Texas) star is rated as the No. 4 cornerback, the No. 19 player in the 2025 class and the No. 6 player in the state of Texas, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Brew also runs track, posting 100-meter times of 10.75, 10.80 and 10.84 as a sophomore in 2023. Georgia is always looking for speed at defensive back.

Both of Brews’ parents ran track at the collegiate level. His father, Derrick Brew, for LSU and his mother, Donica Merriman, for Ohio State. Derrick Brew is an Olympic gold medalist, while Donica Merriman is a member of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.

The Buckeyes are projected to land Brew by 247Sports with Michigan, Texas, Penn State and Oregon also in the mix.

Smart and the Georgia staff signed two highly-touted recruits from Brew’s hometown in the 2024 class, five-star linebacker Justin Williams and five-star defensive tackle Joseph Jonah-Ajonye.

Brew will make his college decision on Jan. 24. Georgia did not make Brew’s top five schools that he named on Jan. 10.

Penn State makes top five of elite 2025 CB with decision looming

Penn State hoping to beat out 3 Big Ten foes for four-star cornerback in Class of 2025 as commitment date approaches.

Even though the 2023-24 season didn’t end as Penn State and their fans may have wanted, it’s clear that what they’ve done the past few years as resonated with recruits across the country.

They finished with a top-15 recruiting class in 2024 and are off to a good start with the 2025 group.

[autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his staff got some good news when an elite cornerback put them in his top five list with his decision set to be made on Jan. 24.

Four-star [autotag]Dorian Brew[/autotag] is a 6’1″ 200 pound cornerback from Texas who is the 21st overall player in the 2025 class according to On3’s industry rankings. 247Sports views him the most favorably out of the four major recruiting sites, with Brew coming in as their 16th best player.

Along with Penn State, the others in his top five are Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon and Texas.

The only school he hasn’t visited is Oregon, but he’s not planning on taking more visits before his commitment is announced later in January.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Ohio State overwhelming odds of landing the talented corner with a 98.3% chance. Penn State was not given any chance to land Brew, even though they made his top five.

For all intents and purposes, it seems like he is headed to Columbus.

His mom was a track and field athlete with the Buckeyes and is in their Hall of Fame. His announcement date on Jan. 24 is on his mother’s birthday with the intention to honor her.

All signs are pointing to Penn State missing on this elite cornerback, but getting included in the top five is a good sign for how top players across the country are viewing this program.

2025 5-Star CB out of Conroe (TX) has placed Texas A&M in his Top 10 program list

2025 5-Star cornerback Dorian Brew has included Texas A&M in his initial Top 10 program list.

Before Jimbo Fisher’s dismissal last Sunday, recruiting had already taken a back seat. At the same time, many Aggie fans pondered Fisher’s future at the helm, but with associate head coach Elijah Robinson now taking over in the interim role with three games remaining this season, the future suddenly feels much brighter, and prospects are noticing.

Focusing on the 2025 cycle, five-star cornerback Dorian Brew, an elite defensive prospect who has been on the Aggies’ radar since Fisher offered him on June 13, has begun to narrow down his options, and you can be sure that he’ll be paying close attention to how the Aggie’s finish out the 2023 season, combined with the impending announcement of who will replace Fisher in 2024 and beyond.

On Thursday, the 6’2 195 CB from Conroe (TX) released his Top 10 program list, which includes Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, TCU, Oregon, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

According to 247Sports Composite, Brew is currently positioned as the 21st-ranked player in the 2025 cycle, the 4th-ranked cornerback, and the 5th-ranked player in Texas. Originally from Northmont, Ohio, Brew and his family moved to Conroe before the 2023 season, placing him in prime position for Power 5 scouts.

After taking an unofficial visit to College Station on June 17, any future visits will likely depend on the future coaching regime to take over at Texas A&M.

Ohio State football makes top-10 for former in-state cornerback

Will another Brew don the Scarlet and Gray?

It was a surprise to many when 2025 cornerback [autotag]Dorian Brew[/autotag] left Ohio to continue his high school career in Texas, but the distance wasn’t going to stop Ohio State from recruiting him.

The tenacity paid off on Thursday, as Brew, a 6-foot, 2-inch and 185-pounder, named his top-10 schools. The Buckeyes made this cut, as did some of their Big Ten rivals Michigan, Penn State, and soon to be Oregon.

The competition will be fierce for the No. 4 cornerback and 21st overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Ohio State has one advantage that the other schools don’t, Brew’s mother Donica was a track star of the Buckeyes and is a member of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.

Brew’s father, Derrick, won a Bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic Games in the 4×400 relay, so the family is full of high-level athletes. The hope is that the Buckeyes can get Dorian to return to Columbus and join his mother’s alma mater.

Ohio State predicted to land 2025 five-star corner

It’s looking good for Ohio State on this one, but a long way to go. #GoBucks

Ohio State’s cornerback recruiting has been very strong in recent months; it landed three corners in the 2024 class over the summer.

This includes Aaron Scott who attends Springfield High School in Ohio and was the latest to commit. He is a four-star recruit, the 43rd-ranked player overall and fourth-ranked corner on the 247 composite.

Bryce West is also an Ohio native who attends Glenville High School and committed to Ohio State in June. He is a four-star ranked 50th nationally overall and fifth among corners.

Miles Lockhart also committed to the Buckeyes this summer. The four-star recruit out of Arizona is ranked as 27th among corners in the 2024 class.

With the 2024 cornerback class set in stone, the Buckeyes’ recruiting focus is shifting toward 2025. Dorian Brew is an obvious high-priority target for Ohio State. The five-star recruit is the top ranked player in Ohio and 27th overall nationally.

The Buckeyes appear in the lead to land the Ohio native as On3’s recruiting insider Mike Singer predicted he would go to Ohio State.

Landing Brew would be massive for the Buckeyes’ 2025 class and it appears they are off to a good start to his recruitment.

Is Texas A&M in the running for 2025 5-star CB Dorian Brew?

After his recent visit during the Aggies recruiting pool party, is Texas A&M now in the running for 2025 5-star cornerback Dorian Brew?

Texas A&M’s 2024 cycle is still building on its momentum after landing 13 recruits since May. Still, after the Aggies’ annual recruiting pool party last weekend, the 2025 cycle has sneaked into the conversation, as several high-profile athletes have developed relationships with Jimbo Fisher and his staff leading into next summer.

One of said 2025 visitors, five-star cornerback Dorian Brew, who, after offering him on June 13, followed up the Aggies’ interest by taking his first unofficial visit just four days later, on June 17, before his recent visit last weekend. As one of the top players in Ohio, Brew is currently positioned as the 28th-ranked player in the 2025 class, the 3rd-ranked cornerback, and the No.1-ranked player in Ohio, according to 247Sports Composite.

Receiving offers from the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, and Florida State, Jimbo Fisher, and his staff will attempt to stake their claim as the best potential fit for Brew, who is also a standout wide receiver outside of his cornerback duties.

In an interview with Marcus Hartman of the Dayton Daily News, Brew stated what he is looking for in a collegiate destination as the offers continue to ramp up:

“I’m looking for a place who feels like home, a school that’s going to develop me, and a good relationship with my position coach who’s going to coach me hard but have the same amount of love behind it, too,” Brew Stated.

During Jimbo Fisher’s tenure at Texas A&M, NFL based-development at the cornerback position has been less than stellar, though recruiting top-tier players as the position has steadily increased over the last two recruiting cycles, as freshman corners Bravion Rogers and Jayvon Thomas have continued to stand out this offseason, and should receive playing time sooner than later.

Ohio State football finally offers top in-state 2025 prospect

The Buckeyes have entered the mix #GoBucks

After I questioned the [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] staff for not offering top 2025 in-state prospect [autotag]Dorian Brew[/autotag] earlier this week, it pulled the trigger on Saturday.

The in-state wide receiver was reportedly on a visit to Columbus when he went to Twitter to announce he had been offered. This wasn’t Brew’s first time visiting campus, but it is going to be one he remembers.

With a consensus top 100 player in the Buckeyes’ backyard, it was a bit odd they hadn’t offered, but that is now in the past. Ohio State has entered the chat, and you have to believe will be pressing hard for Brew’s commitment as his recruitment starts to heat up.

Since Brew tagged new offensive coordinator [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag] and safeties coach [autotag]Perry Eliano[/autotag], you have to wonder what side of the ball he would end up on if he ends up in Columbus. Head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] most likely doesn’t care at this moment, just get him to sign and figure out a position later.

Wisconsin offers four-star wide receiver for class of 2025

The Badgers offered Dorian Brew, a four-star wide receiver from Ohio on Wednesday.

Wisconsin offered Dorian Brew, a four-star wide receiver from Clayton, Ohio on Wednesday. The 6-foot-2 athlete is a sophomore Northmont High School and will be a member of the class of 2025 wherever he ends up.

Although he likely won’t make a decision for nearly two years, Brew has already been offered by 12 schools including five programs within the Big Ten. With the addition of CJ Williams and Bryson Green via the transfer portal this offseason, the Badgers look committed to establishing themselves as a destination for wideouts moving forward.

Considering how far out his commitment likely is, Brew could go anywhere in the country. As of right now, 247Sports sees Notre Dame as the favorite to acquire the talented wide receiver.
