Ohio State football misses out on 5-star California offensive tackle

The Buckeyes will keep looking for another ‘24 OL # GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] was one of the final schools that 2024 California offensive tackle [autotag]Brandon Baker[/autotag] was considering up to his commitment, but opted to verbal elsewhere.

The 6-foot, 5-inch, 285-pound No. 1 ranked tackle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, selected Texas over the Buckeyes, Florida State, Oregon, and Nebraska.

Unfortunately, it is another line recruit loss, one that seems all too familiar in the most recent cycles. Offensive line coach [autotag]Justin Frye[/autotag] has helped recruit a solid group, but none of them have the pedigree that Baker would have brought to the room. The search for an elite offensive lineman continues.

Social media reacts to five-star Brandon Baker’s commitment to Texas

Five-star tackle Brandon Baker picks Texas as 2023 continues to fall in the Longhorns’ favor.

Five-star California offensive tackle Brandon Baker is committed to The University of Texas. The move continues a 2023 season in which everything seems to be falling right for the program.

Baker garners his fair share of acclaim from recruiting sites. The player ranks as the No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 23 overall player in the country in the 2024 On3 consensus.

As you might imagine, the move is making waves on social media. The Texas fanbase, hungry to return to recent prominence it enjoyed in the early 2000’s, is seeing its team do what it couldn’t do for several years. The Longhorns are recruiting the best offensive linemen in the country and winning those recruits.

Offensive line coach Kyle Flood has transformed recruiting, but done even more in the way of development. Two second year five-star offensive offensive linemen are starters in Devon Campbell Jr. and Kelvin Banks Jr. Banks earned freshman All-American honors last year.

Texas is turning into a problem up front for future opponents. Here’s how social media is viewing the news.

Ohio State football recruiting update: Monster game, commitments wavering, and more

Jeremiah Smith goes off, two commits wearing non-Ohio State gear?!? #GoBucks

The high school football season is well underway, and it’s time to check in with what is happening with [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag]’s commitments and targets.

The Buckeyes have the second-best recruiting class in the country, and the top group in the conference. They trail Georgia in the race for the mythical recruiting national championship. There are still a few spots open to add players.

In this update, we look at who performed well during this past weekend’s games, a pair of current commitments who were seen wearing other team’s gear and a look at a top target that might be trending elsewhere.

No. 1 offensive tackle will visit Nebraska this weekend

The No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2024 will be making an official visit to Nebraska this weekend.

The No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2024 will be making an official visit to Nebraska this weekend. Brandon Baker will be at the home opener this weekend as the Huskers host Northern Illinois.

5-star OT Brandon Baker sets commitment date; new prediction shows Ducks have work to do

5-star OT Brandon Baker sets commitment date; new prediction shows Ducks have work to do

One of the top Oregon Duck prospects in the 2024 class will be announcing his commitment later this month, but it unfortunately looks like the Ducks may no longer be leading in his recruitment.

5-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker announced earlier this week that he will be making his commitment on September 24. Baker is rated as the No. 1 OT in the 2024 class, and the No. 21 overall player in the nation. For a long time, the Ducks have been thought to lead in his recruitment, going back to when Adrian Klemm was at Oregon. However, over the past couple of months, it looks like the Ducks may still have some work to do in order to secure his commitment.

According to a pair of Texas Longhorns reporters from On3, Baker should now be favored to go there over the Ducks. Will Dan Lanning and A’lique Terry be able to make up ground before he announces his commitment in a couple of weeks?

We’ll have to wait and see.

Ohio State football 5-star 2024 offensive line target sets his commitment date

The Buckeyes will soon know if the 5-star tackle will join them #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] recruiting machine is looking to add at least one more, if not two, offensive linemen to it’s 2024 recruiting class.

There are already four commits, but not one of them brings the pedigree that California offensive tackle [autotag]Brandon Baker[/autotag] would. The 6-foot, 5-inch and 285-pound lineman is ranked as the No. 1 player at his position and 24th nationally by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, which puts him in the 5-star range.

Baker has not taken all the official visits that he wanted, his final a trip to Nebraska will take place next weekend. With that in mind, he now knows the timeline of when he will make a decision, September 24th.

There are currently no crystal ball projections for Baker, so it’s tough to get a read on where he is leaning towards. We will know shortly if the 5-star tackle will join the Ohio State class.

Remaining top targets for Ohio State football in the 2024 recruiting class

Which top remaining targets would you like to see join the 2024 Buckeyes class? #GoBucks

As we all know, [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] scored a massive recruiting win on Tuesday evening when five-star defensive lineman [autotag]Eddrick Houston[/autotag] committed to the Buckeyes.

The huge addition brings the 2024 Ohio State recruiting class to 22: 13 on offense, 8 on defense and one specialist. As many as four more players could  join the class, but that doesn’t mean head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] is looking only at that number of remaining prospects.

Find out below which recruits that the Buckeyes are still actively going after and an update on their recruitment and when they might commit. (All recruiting rankings are via the 247Sports Composite Rankings.)
