Will Georgia finish with the No. 1 recruiting class?

These five star prospects can still get Georgia football to the No. 1 spot in the recruiting rankings.

With two 5-stars, 14 4-stars and three 3-stars, Georgia currently has the No. 4 recruiting class in the 2020 cycle.

After early signing day came and went, Georgia fans were pleased with the No. 4 class but still felt like there were some pieces missing.

That’s because of the high expectations that Kirby Smart has set during his time at Georgia, routinely landing top-three recruiting classes.

But then three names emerged as Georgia leans that have either silently signed or intend to do so during February’s signing day.

Georgia still has a great chance to land these three 5-star prospects, which could very well catapult the Dawgs to No. 1 in the rankings.

There’s running back Zach Evans, who is trending heavily to the Bulldogs.

Evans is a 5-star back out of Houston, Texas who ranks as the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect and No. 1 ball carrier in the 2020 class. 63% of 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions say Georgia.

If Evans does wind up a Bulldog, he will form a tandem with Kendall Milton,  another top back who ranks as the No. 6 player at the position.

“Evans is expected to commit on air during an all-star game,” wrote Dean Legge of DawgPost.

Darnell Washington is another name to keep an eye on.

He is a 5-star out of Las Vegas who is listed as an athlete but will play tight end in college. Currently, Georgia is the heavy favorite to land Washington, the No. 10 overall player in the country and No. 1 ranked athlete.

Tight end is a position that Georgia needs to fill before this class is wrapped up. As of now Georgia has no tight ends committed or signed to the program.

Washington is a 6-foot-7, 261 pound beast that will be a matchup nightmare at the collegiate level.

He is expected to announce his decision on January 2nd at the Under Armour All-America Game.

Kelee Ringo is a 5-star cornerback out of Scottsdale, Arizona and is currently another heavy Georgia lean. He plans to announce at the All-American Bowl on January 4th and it is not known whether or not he has already signed with a program. Ringo is the No. 8 overall player, No. 1 cornerback and No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Arizona.

Right now, Georgia has one cornerback signed for 2020, 4-star Jalen Kimber who ranks as the No. 127 player in the class.

Ringo is a player that will likely start from day one wherever he goes.

We mentioned 5-star defensive end Jordan Burch today as well. The No. 5 overall player out of Columbia, South Carolina committed to the Gamecocks on early signing day but has not actually signed yet.

His high school coach said that Burch wants to wait and sign with his teammates, however, since he is not signed yet that means Georgia can still contact him until he does. He’s a name to keep an aye on but I would not get too excited just yet.

5-star Georgia target never signed with rival; coach explains why

Georgia football 5-star target Jordan Burch committed but never signed with South Carolina and his head coach explains why.

On Early Signing Day, Georgia missed out on its biggest target, 5-star defensive Jordan Burch.

Burch committed to South Carolina, deciding to stick around in his hometown of Columbia.

He is the 5th ranked player in the country and the highest recruit the Gamecocks have reeled in since Jadeveon Clowney (#1) in 2011.

However, South Carolina fans will have to wait a bit longer before things become official with Burch, as he never signed his letter of intent during the early signing period (Wed-Fri) and plans on waiting.

Burch’s high school Erik Kimrey discussed his star playing not signing early, stating he wants to do so with his teammates.

“I think Jordan and (South Carolina verbal commit Alex Huntley) value signing with their teammates, and to me that’s a reason they decided not to sign early,” Kimrey told The Post and Courier in a story published on Saturday.

Kimrey did not indicate that Burch may be having second thoughts, but that will not stop Georgia coaches from reaching out to him and attempting to land the five-star before that first Wednesday in February.

Michigan signee shows out on national TV

On Saturday, the Wolverines new receiver showed out on national TV against a Florida powerhouse.

[jwplayer fdgTDhen-XNcErKyb]

Michigan already knew it was getting something in four-star wide receiver Roman Wilson from Honolulu (HI) St. Louis.

The speedster who runs a clocked 4.37 40-yard dash signed with the Wolverines on Wednesday, but just because his recruitment is now fully over doesn’t mean that he’s done putting highlights on film. And he did so in front of a national audience.

In the High School Bowl Series, televised on ESPN, on Saturday night, Honolulu (HI) St. Louis took on powerhouse Ft. Lauderdale (FL) St. Thomas Aquinas. Down 7-0, St. Louis needed to get on the board, and the team’s quarterback winged it towards the end zone, where Wilson plucked the ball out of the air, despite being well covered.

But that’s not all.

Wilson further showed his athleticism in a tweet he personally shared. His quarterback looked down field, hesitated, went through his progressions and found the Michigan signee underneath. While the play didn’t go much further, some acrobatics got it a little bit further, as Wilson, with seeming ease, hurdled the St. Thomas Aquinas defender who came in to make the initial tackle.

If you’re looking to learn more on Wilson, check out our dossier, sharing everything you need to know about him.

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to Daylen Everette. Everette is a member of the Class of 2022 and is currently a sophomore at Norview High School. He’s from Norfolk, Virginia.

Everette has quite some time to decide his college future, but he’s already getting some serious interest from major schools. The LSU Tigers offered him a scholarship last week.

Everette plays cornerback. The six-foot, 180 lbs sophomore is one of the more talented players in his class. Will he call Athens his home? We’ll have to wait quite some time to find out.

2020 four-star Texas commit Xavion Alford and the Shadow Creek Sharks won the school’s first state championship Friday night against Denton Ryan. With a final score of 28-22, the Sharks were able to stop a last-second hail mary attempt to win the game.

After the game, Alford caught up with a reporter to talk about his season and what it meant for him to win a championship.

“It’s unreal,” said Alford. “This season has been real emotional for me. I got hurt first game of the season.”

After falling short in 2018, Shadow Creek was able to win the 5A Divison 1 state championship in 2019. When asked what it meant to be a state champion, Alford said it meant “a lot.”

Here are Alford’s full comments:

Alford signed his national letter of intent with the Longhorns on National Signing Day. Playing safety, he is the sixth highest-rated prospect in the 2020 class for the Longhorns. Alford joins two other secondary players in the class, as Jerrin Thompson is another safety, while Kitan Crawford is listed as a cornerback.

Alabama commit Bryce Young wins several QB of the year awards

Young not threw for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns in his senior season, but he has won three different quarterback awards this week

One of the most exciting players of Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is 5 star quarterback, Bryce Young who played at Mater Dei High School in California. Young not threw for 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns in his senior season, but he has won three different quarterback awards this week.

Young won the L.A. Times’ player of the year in high school football for the 2019 season, National Quarterback Club’s 2019 high school quarterback of the year, and was named USA Today’s ALL-USA High School Football Offensive Player of the Year.

Simply put, Bryce Young is hands down one of the most talented players in the 2020 recruiting class. So much so, that Mater Dei head coach Bruce Rollinson called Bryce Young the best quarterback in Mater Dei history.

There is no doubt, Bryce Young is going to be fascinating to watch play at Alabama.

Getting to know Alabama’s signees: OLB Quandarrius Robinson

Alabama signed 22 of its 26 commitments during the early signing period on Wednesday. To give fans a chance to get to know the newest Crimson Tide members, we are doing a series of overviews with each of the 2020 signees.

Next up on the list, four-star outside linebacker Quandarrius Robinson.

Quandarrius Robinson, Outside Linebacker

Hometown: Birmingham (Ala.)

High school: Jackson-Olin

Size: 6-5, 217

247Sports composite ranking: 4-star / No. 46 overall / No. 6 OLB

Rivals ranking: 4-star / No. 69 overall / No. 6 OLB

Commitment date: June 11, 2019

Signing date: Dec. 18, 2019

Where does he fit in? Robinson is going to be a fun piece to add to Alabama’s defense starting in 2020. At 6-foot-5, he possesses tremendous length to go with explosive burst and bend potential off the edge.

After starting his high school career as a safety, the Jackson-Olin standout continued to grow and work his way into an edge role as a senior. That experience in the secondary should help Robinson when dropping into coverage, something that will be asked of him at times.

The Crimson Tide’s defense has an abundance of edge players in the 2020 recruiting class, including Chris Braswell, Drew Sanders, Will Anderson and Robinson.

Combine that with two high potential players from the 2019 class, Kevin Harris II and King Mwikuta, and it’ll be interesting to see who earns playing time with Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis heading to the NFL.

Wisconsin’s top five remaining targets in class of 2021

With Wisconsin’s 2020 recruiting class finished for the most part, here’s a look at its top remaining targets in the next class.

Wisconsin’s 2020 recruiting class is just about finished after it signed 19 players on the first day of the Early Signing Period on Wednesday, though the Badgers are still hoping to add a running back to the group before National Signing Day in February.

With the 2020 class locked up, Wisconsin can fully set its sights on a 2021 group that is already off to a phenomenal start with seven players committed: three-star inside linebacker Bryan Sanborn (Lake Zurich, Ill.), three-star defensive end/outside linebacker Ayo Adebogun (Thiensville, Wis.), four-star offensive tackles JP Benzschawel (Grafton, Wis.) and Riley Mahlman (Lakeville, Minn.), three-star running backs Jackson Acker (Verona, Wis.) and Loyal Crawford (Eau Claire, Wis.) and three-star quarterback Deacon Hill (Santa Barbara, Calif.).

While the Badgers have already landed some of their top targets in the class, there is obviously much work still to be done. Here are the top five players still left on their board.

Hunter Wohler – Safety

A four-star safety from Muskego, Wohler was the first in-state player the Badgers offered in this recruiting cycle.

Wisconsin was the first school to offer the 6-1, 180-pounder back in January, but he’s since become a hot commodity nationally: now considered the No. 241 overall player in the country per the 247Sports composite, Wohler holds other offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota.

At this point, the Badgers have to be considered the favorites here. Like many in-state kids Wisconsin targets, Wohler grew up a Badger fan, and the staff has made it clear he’s arguably their top priority in the entire class. However, the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish could make Bucky sweat a little.

Getting to know Alabama’s signees: RB Jase McClellan

Alabama signed 22 of its 26 commitments during the early signing period on Wednesday. To give fans a chance to get to know the newest Crimson Tide members, we are doing a series of overviews with each of the 2020 signees.

Next up on the list, four-star running back Jase McClellan, a former Oklahoma commit.

Jase McClellan, Running Back

Hometown: Aledo (Tex.)

High school: Aledo

Size: 5-11, 202

247Sports composite ranking: 4-star / No. 43 overall / No. 8 RB

Rivals ranking: 4-star / No. 60 overall / No. 7 RB

Commitment date: Dec. 18, 2019

Signing date: Dec. 18, 2019

Where does he fit in? McClellan was an excellent late addition on National Signing Day for Alabama. The longtime Oklahoma commit is an extremely talented running back with chance to emerge as a future Day 1 or 2 pick for the NFL.

It will be interesting to see how the running back depth chart shakes out. Najee Harris is more than likely gone, but the top two spots should still be owned by Brian Robinson Jr. and Trey Sanders, respectively.

McClellan wasn’t the only talented running back added in the 2020 class either. Four-star prospect Roydell Williams out of Hueytown (Ala.) and underrated three-star Kyle Edwards out of Destrahan (La.) will both be in the mix as well.

It’s very possible that we see Alabama return to a three, maybe even four-back rotation.
