Zach Evans rolls for 134 yards, 2 TDs in blowout win vs. Georgia Tech

Mississippi running back Zach Evans ran all over Georgia Tech in a blowout win Saturday

If your favorite NFL team is looking for a running back in the early rounds of next year’s draft, Mississippi’s Zach Evans should be on their short list.

A transfer from TCU, Evans is proving to be a huge addition to the Rebels offense, racking up 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Saturday’s blowout win over Georgia Tech.

Evans did most of his damage in the first half, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry as the Rebels built an insurmountable lead and finished with the shutout.

Thanks to his impressive blend of explosiveness and power, Evans should be among the top prospects at his position in the 2023 NFL draft class.

Social media reacts to 4-star RB Daijun Edwards committing to Georgia football

Social media reacted to the news of Daijun Edwards picking Georgia football.

On Thursday, Georgia football received a commitment from 4-star running back Daijun Edwards, out of Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia.

The commitment of Edwards gives the Bulldogs 22 players in 2020 and helped moved UGA to the No. 1 spot in the class rankings, overtaking Alabama.

The commitment of Edwards likely means 5-star ball carrier Zachary Evans will not be a Dawg after all. Evans signed with Georgia originally but Kirby Smart granted the No. 1 back’s request and released him of his National Letter of Intent.

Regardless, Georgia gets a great player in Edwards, a 5-10, 200 pound beast.

Following the news of Edwards’ commitment, social media erupted in excitement over the addition of a great player and that new No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

Georgia football picks up commitment from 4-star RB

Georgia football landed a commitment from a 4-star RB today.

Georgia football has picked up a commitment from 4-star running back Daijun Edwards.

Edwards, a member of the 2020 recruiting class, announced in a tweet on Thursday that he would be committing to the Bulldogs. He chose UGA over Florida State and others.

Georgia originally offered Edwards (Colquitt County High School in Moultrie) in 2016, and the talented back committed to the Dawgs after visiting Athens over the weekend.

At 5-10, 200 pounds, Edwards ranks as the 279th overall player in his class, 21st running back and 28th player in the state of Georgia.

Edwards joins Kendall Milton, the nation’s No. 7 back in the 2020 class, as Georgia’s two running back commits for this class.

With the commitment of Edwards, Georgia now has 22 commits for 2020. The Dawgs also now hold the No. 1 class as well, according to 247Sports.

Report: Tennessee’s visit with 5-star RB Zach Evans did not go as planned

The Tennessee Vols’ visit with 5-star Georgia football target Zach Evans did not go as planned.

5-star running back Zachary Evans’ recruitment has been tough to keep up with.

What we do know is that Evans signed with Georgia and then the two parties agreed to release the running back from his National Letter of Intent, therefore reopening Evans’ recruitment.

Whether or not Georgia is still going after the Houston, Texas product is unknown, but based on reports it sounds like Georgia is still in it.

This past weekend, Evans paid a visit to Knoxville to visit with the Tennessee coaching staff.

This week, Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt then tried to visit with Evans and his family in Houston. Pruitt also spent time visiting recruits at North Shore High School, where Evans went before finishing his course load early.

However, according to a report from Trey Wallace, a radio personality with FoxSports Knoxville, the visit did not as planned for Pruitt.

Per Wallace, Pruitt tried to visit with Evans’ family but it did not work out.

Personally, I don’t see a scenario where Evans ends up a Volunteer. Plans falling through this close to signing day is never a good sign, but expect Pruitt to keep trying for the talented back.

What does this tweet from 5-star Georgia football signee mean?

5-star Georgia football signee Kelee Ringo made an interesting tweet this week.

Right now, Georgia is sitting with the No. 3 recruiting class in the country for 2020. With 21 commits, five of which being 5-stars, if this class wrapped up right now the Dawgs would have had a very successful season recruiting wise.

But many think Georgia is not done just yet. There’s talks of the Dawgs still being in the hunt for 5-star running back Zach Evans, who signed with Georgia and then reached an agreement with the school to be released from his National Letter of Intent.

If Evans would have remained signed with Georgia, then the Bulldogs likely would have finished with the No. 1 class.

At least that’s what 5-star Georgia cornerback signee Kelee Ringo said on Twitter this week in response to Mike Farrell, the National Recruiting Director at Rivals, tweeting about how Clemson currently holds that No. 1 spot.

“Watch this……and if Zach stayed we would have been #1 easily. It’s coming though,” Ringo tweeted.

What exactly that means I am not sure. Does it prove that Georgia is still in the mix for Evans? Is there another player(s) that Kirby Smart could be going after come February’s signing day?

Is Georgia football still in it? Recruiting Director at Rivals makes Zach Evans prediction

Is Georgia football still in the mix for Zach Evans? Mike Farrell at Rivals thinks so.

Zach Evans, the 5-star running back out of North Shore High School in Houston, Texas, originally signed with Georgia but then later requested that the Bulldogs release him of his National Letter of Intent. Georgia did just that.

Evans, who may be the most talented player in the entire 2020 recruiting class, was supposed to announce his decision at the Under Armour game before backing out and delaying his recruitment.

Now, however, Georgia appears to be back in the fold for Evans.

Despite already signing with UGA and then being released from his NLI, some recruiting expert still think the superstar tailback will end up at Georgia when the dust settles.

Another name to keep an eye on is Broderick Jones, a 5-star offensive lineman who has been committed to Georgia for quite some time. He has not signed with the Dawgs, though, and Auburn has been making a strong push for the 6’6″ 300 pounder out of Lithonia, Georgia.

When asked to make a prediction on where these unsigned five-star players will go, Rivals.com’s National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell said he still thinks that both Evans and Jones will be heading to Georgia.

“Evans will end up at Georgia, Jones will also end up at Georgia.”

Evans is believed to be visiting Knoxville this weekend, according to Farrell. Ole Miss and Florida are in the mix as well.

At North Shore in Houston, Evans had another stellar season as a senior, rushing for 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns on just 127 carries, with an average of 12.6 yards per carry. In 2018, when he was named MaxPreps’ National Junior of the Year, Evans tallied 1,785 rushing yards and 29 scores. His sophomore season,  Evans racked up 1,483 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns.

Twitter reacts to five-star Zach Evans delaying his commitment announcement

Five-star running back Zach Evans, the top-ranked player at his position in the Class of 2020, postponed his commitment yet again on Thursday.

While rumors had surfaced around early signing day in December that Evans signed a letter of intent and would likely be heading to Georgia, things just got a bit more interesting.

If it was all settled a few weeks back, then why wait again? Well, there are a number of reasons that could play into this decision, but we aren’t going to speculate on that here.

However, we have compiled a list of fan reactions from the Bulldog faithful on Twitter. Spoiler: They are not too happy.

Georgia looks to add a 5-star to its 2020 class tonight

Georgia football will look to add a few five-star players this week in Kelee Ringo, Darnell Washington and Zach Evans.

Tonight at the Under Armour All-America Game, Georgia will look to add more talent its already top-five ranked 2020 recruiting class.

Originally, Georgia fans were expecting to hear two 5-star names pick the Dawgs, RB Zach Evans and TE Darnell Washington, however, there’s been a schedule change.

Evans, who many expect to choose UGA, will not be announcing tonight according to Craig Haubert.

But there’s still Darnell Washington, a 6’8″ athletic freak out of Las Vegas.

Washington ranks as the nation’s No. 10 overall player and is likely to pick up a Georgia hat tonight at halftime of the high school all-star game.

If Washington does indeed choose the Dawgs, he would be the third 5-star in the class.

As for Evans, his chaotic recruitment will continue and we will keep you updated on whatever we see on that front.

Kelee Ringo, a 5-star CB out of Arizona, is another big time player that Georgia is expected to land this week.

Ringo will announce at the Adidas All-American Bowl on January 4. He has already signed his letter of intent.

5-star RB Zach Evans hints on where he’ll be playing

The number one running back recruit in the country, Zachary Evans has just hinted at where he will be signing, Georgia football.

The #1 running back recruit in the country has just hinted at where he will be signing.

5-star RB recruit Zachary Evans out of Houston, Texas is set to announce where he will be playing at the Under Armor All-America high school all-star game on January 2nd.

Evans was interviewed by reporter Bud Elliott about his recruitment and where he is considering signing.  He told Elliott that he had it narrowed down to three schools.  Alabama, LSU and Georgia.

Evans didn’t just tell Elliott his top three, but also gave a massive hint at which would be the lucky winner.

“One of their backs just played in the super bowl as a freshman. That’s a hint,” said Evans to Elliott.

Sony Michel, the Dawgs former running back, just won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots last year, scoring the only touchdown in that game.

If what we hear is true, Dawgs fans can expect Evans to announce he will be signing with Georgia come Jan. 2.

Evans would be joining the #6 RB recruit in the nation, Kendall Milton, who has already signed with the Bulldogs.

RBU is all about the next man up, and it looks like the Kirby Smart and the Dawgs have secured the most elite RB class of the year.  Big things ahead for Georgia football.
