Georgia RB Kendall Milton declares for NFL draft

Georgia star running back Kendall Milton will enter the NFL draft

Georgia is losing one of its key starters to the draft. Kendall Milton made it official on social media on Monday. Georgia’s starting running back is entering the 2024 NFL draft.

The senior out of Fresno, California, came to the Bulldogs in 2020 and saw limited action behind notable backs James Cook, Zamir White and Kenny McIntosh. The former five-star stayed at Georgia and waited his turn while seeing his workload increase each season.

His last season was his best as he finally received significant work in the backfield in 2023. He rushed for 790 yards and 14 touchdowns. In the final five games of the season, Milton had 495 yards and nine touchdowns. Milton was healthy throughout the last several weeks of the 2023 season, which helped him compile impressive statistics.

Milton is a part of the Bulldogs’ senior class that went 50-4 and won two national titles. Milton’s biggest individual accolade is the Orange Bowl MVP in Georgia’s 63-3 win over Florida State.

The Bulldogs will still have a potent run game with Branson Robinson, Andrew Paul and Roderick Robinson II. They’ll also welcome incoming freshman Nate Frazier and top-ranked transfer Trevor Etienne.

We wish Kendall Milton success in the NFL. Fellow Georgia running back Daijun Edwards is also entering the NFL draft.

Senior Georgia RB Kendall Milton plans to play in Orange Bowl

UGA football running back Kendall Milton plans to play in the Orange Bowl against Florida State

Georgia Bulldogs senior running back Kendall Milton is setting an example of some of his teammates. Milton has announced that he plans to play in Georgia’s bowl game against the Florida State Seminoles, per DawgNation.

Milton, a senior, could be playing in his final game in the red and black in the Orange Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023. Georgia’s senior class has a chance to become the Bulldogs’ winningest senior class in school history.

Numerous other Georgia players will have to decide if they want to play in the Orange Bowl. Georgia standouts like Brock Bowers, Amarius Mims, Jamon Dumas-Johnson, and Ladd McConkey are all battling injuries, so it would understandable if several of them weren’t available for the Florida State game.

Kendall Milton, who has battled injuries throughout his career, is playing the best football of his career recently. Milton has a career-best 112 rushing attempts for 686 yards and 12 touchdowns. He scored a pair of touchdowns in Georgia’s SEC championship loss to Alabama.

Milton and other Georgia seniors will have to decide if they want to return for another year or enter the NFL draft. The 2020 college football season did not count against anybody’s eligibility, so Milton and other seniors still have a decision to make if they want to return or not.

Georgia running backs Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards are both seniors, so the Georgia backfield may have a different look in 2024.

Kirby Smart shares positive update on Georgia RB Kendall Milton

Kirby Smart likes what he’s seen from Kendall Milton ahead of the Kentucky game: ‘He’s been great this week’

There is positive news on the injury front for the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (5-0) as they get set to take on the No. 20 Kentucky Wildcats (5-0).

Senior running back Kendall Milton has been limited this season. First it was a preseason hamstring strain and more recently an MCL strain suffered against South Carolina that has kept Milton from playing meaningful snaps.

Milton made an appearance against Auburn last week, but played only five snaps and didn’t carry the ball.

Head coach Kirby Smart said Milton has been great in practice this week.

“He’s been great this week, he looks healthier this week than he did last,” Smart said on the SEC coaches teleconference call on Wednesday. “He’s got some speed. He’s fresh out there, so we’re certainly hoping he can help impact that run game.”

Having Milton healthy is a big boost to a UGA tailback room that has been decimated with injuries. True freshman Roderick Robinson’s status is unclear as he recovers from an ankle injury suffered versus South Carolina, and sophomore Branson Robinson is out for the season with a torn patella tendon suffered in fall camp.

Kickoff versus Kentucky is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in Sanford Stadium and the game will be carried on ESPN.

Updated Georgia injury report ahead of UGA vs. UAB

Full Georgia injury report ahead of UAB matchup…

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs are dealing with an extensive list of injuries headed into their Week 4 matchup with UAB.

Starting wide receiver Ladd McConkey (back) has yet to take a snap this season. Running backs Kendall Milton (MCL) and Roderick Robinson (ankle) both left last week’s game with injuries and did not return. Starting right tackle Amarius Mims (ankle) also exited the South Carolina game.

Numerous other Bulldogs are working their way back to the field.

Here’s our updated Georgia injury report, including recent quotes from head coach Kirby Smart.

Kirby Smart gives injury updates ahead of UAB matchup

Updates on Javon Bullard, Kendall Milton, Roderick Robinson & more…

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs’ injury list is a long one. Several players missed last week’s win against South Carolina and others exited the game due to new injuries.

On Tuesday, head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on some of those Bulldogs who are battling to get back on the field this Saturday against UAB.

Running backs Kendall Milton (MCL) and Roderick Robinson (ankle) haven’t been practicing this week, according to Smart.

“Kendall’s been in rehab. He’s been rehabbing and working, and Roderick hasn’t been able to practice with us so they haven’t looked good in terms of practice ’cause they haven’t been out there. I’m hoping that we can get them back. It looks very doubtful that Roderick’s going to be able to play this week. I’m still holding out hope that Kendall might be able to, but I can’t say that ’cause he has not practiced.”

Starting safety Javon Bullard missed the South Carolina matchup after suffering an ankle sprain in Georgia’s win over Ball State in Week 2.

“Yeah, he hasn’t done much (in practice). He warmed up, didn’t feel great in warmups, we shut him down and he hasn’t done much this week in terms of being able to practice. I asked him today, and he’s underwater running, got a boot on, but he has not been able to practice.”

Junior offensive tackle Austin Blaske has yet to take a snap this season due to a MCL injury.

“Blaske has practiced. Man he is a tough dude. But he’s hurting. He’s trying his best out there. O line is a position you might be able to get away with an MCL because you’re not out there in space running and cutting but he’s not 100 percent healthy.”

The Bulldogs may be able to sit players that are still not fully healthy this week versus UAB, but the schedule doesn’t get any easier. Georgia will travel to Auburn (3-0) next week.

Georgia vs UT Martin: Injury report ahead of season opener

Georgia injury report ahead of Week 1 vs UT Martin…

Georgia football will kickoff its 2023 season versus UT Martin on Saturday in Sanford Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network + and ESPN +.

The Bulldogs couldn’t shake the injury bug this offseason and are far from entering the season opener healthy.

Here is our Week 1 injury report as the Dawgs take on the Skyhawks:

Kirby Smart gives injury updates on Georgia’s leading returning RBs

Smart shares good news for Edwards, Milton: ‘Feel good about both of them.’

Injuries have plagued Georgia football’s running back room this offseason.

Leading returning rushers Daijun Edwards (MCL) and Kendall Milton (hamstring) have dealt with nagging injuries from spring practice that have put their status for the season opener in doubt.

Their is good news for the Bulldogs, though, as Kirby Smart shared positive updates for the duo after Tuesday’s practice.

They’ve both done more. Daijun stayed in a black. Kendall’s been out of a black. Both are looking good. We’re giving a lot of reps to a lot of other guys, we’ve got a lot of other guys to get prepared, but they’ve both been in indy, they’ve both done drills, they’ve both worked during the run periods and the pass periods. Feel good about both of them.

Edwards finished second on the team in rushing behind 2023 NFL draft pick Kenny McIntosh in 2022, while Milton finished third.

The Bulldogs will need both to get healthy if they want to make another national championship run.

The rest of the tailback room is lacking in experience with sophomore running back Branson Robinson out for the season with a torn patella tendon.

Georgia is left with redshirt freshman Andrew Paul, who has worked his way back from an ACL tear suffered in fall camp last year, along with true freshman Roderick Robinson, sophomore walk-on Cash Jones and Tennessee transfer walk-on Len’Neth Whitehead.

Georgia’s Kendall Milton ranked among top SEC RBs

Kendall Milton ranked as SEC’s No. 7 RB by College Sports Wire…

Senior Georgia running back Kendall Milton is a key piece of the Bulldogs’ backfield that will have a change a pace inn 2023 after the departure 2022’s leading rusher Kenny McIntosh to the NFL.

At 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, Milton has the size of punishing runner and has shown the breakaway speed needed to lead a tailback room. Milton racked up 592 yards on 85 carries with eight touchdowns in 2022, despite missing two games due to injury.

College Sports Wire recently ranked the top returning Southeastern Conference running backs with Milton named at No. 7.

“The best way to help out a new quarterback is to have a good running game to lead on. The Bulldogs have that with Kendall Milton returning for his fourth season in Athens and coming off his best season from a production standpoint. Milton will lead a stable of running backs that include Daijun Edwards and Branson Robinson.”

Senior Daijun Edwards, UGA’s second-leading rusher in 2022, also returns along side sophomore Branson Robinson.

The Bulldogs also added four-star running back Broderick Robinson in the 2023 recruiting class and dipped into the transfer portal for former Tennessee running back Len’Neth Whitehead.

Redshirt freshman Andrew Paul is currently not cleared for play due to an ACL tear in fall camp last year.

The trio of Milton, Edwards and Branson Robinson should provide plenty of issues for opposing defenses behind a stout Dawgs offensive line.

Injury issues plague Georgia RB room

Kendall Milton (hamstring) and Daijun Edwards (undisclosed) are projected as the top-two options at RB in ’23…

Georgia’s running back room has been plagued with injuries so far this spring.

With just over two weeks to go before the annual ‘G-Day’ spring game in Sanford Stadium, the Bulldogs’ top-2 returning rushers are banged up.

Kendall Milton, Georgia’s third leading rusher last season, is dealing with a hamstring injury that will hold him out for the remainder of the spring, and Daijun Edwards, who finished second on the team in rushing in 2022, has been limited in media viewing portions of practice with an undisclosed injury.

Bulldogs wider receiver Arian Smith confirmed Edwards’ injury as he shared advice for his injured teammates in a press conference on Tuesday.

“…I told K Milt earlier today, it happens man. My roommate Daijun (Edwards), he has been dealing with something too. Just keep your head straight, focus on the present and do what you can to be healthy.”

With Milton and Edwards hampered, rising sophomore Branson Robinson and true freshman Roderick Robinson have an opportunity to take valuable reps as the Bulldogs close out spring practice.

Rising redshirt freshman Andrew Paul is still recovering from an ACL tear suffered in the 2022 preseason and is on track to be cleared by the fall.

“[Ron Courson] would compare it to where Chubb was that first spring we got here,” head coach Kirby Smart said to open spring practice. “He is not cleared, but he’s on track. He’s going to do individual drills … We feel good about where he’ll be as far as fall camp”

Georgia WR Arian Smith shares advice to injured teammate Kendall Milton

‘Just keep your head straight, focus on the present and do what you can to be healthy.’

Georgia wide receiver Arian Smith is no stranger to dealing with injury. The speedster has missed multiple games in each of his first three seasons in Athens.

When UGA running back Kendall Milton went down with a hamstring injury during spring practice, Smith says he shared some advice he learned from his past experience.

“Really focus on the time, like the present. I try not to think about the future or past. It happened. Unfortunately, I’ve had three, so it happens a lot. I told K Milt earlier today, it happens man. My roommate Daijun (Edwards), he has been dealing with something too. Just keep your head straight, focus on the present and do what you can to be healthy.”

Milton dealt with a similar injury during the 2022 season and ended up missing two games. Even still, Milton had a strong season and finished as the Bulldogs third-leading rusher behind Kenny McIntosh and Daijun Edwards.

We’ve seen flashes of great ability from both Smith and Milton over their careers, but we have yet to see the pair play an entire season.

You can’t help but think how good this offense can be in 2023 with Smith and Milton at full force.
