Michigan State listed in top 4 for former Texas A&M, 4-star DL Tunmise Adeleye

Michigan State football is one of four teams still in the running for a major transfer portal target

Michigan State football is one of four teams still in the running for a major transfer portal target.

Former Texas A&M and four-star defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye is reportedly only considering four schools as his transfer destination: Michigan State, USC, Cal and Miami (FL). Adeleye took an official visit to Michigan State this past weekend, and plans to see two more schools this week.

Adeleye is from Katy, Texas and ranked as the No. 39 overall prospect in the 247Sports’ composite rankings in 2021. He was also listed as the No. 9 defensive lineman in the class.

He appeared in two games this past season for Texas A&M, and recorded six tackles.

Transfer prospect wish list for Ohio State Football

Who do you think the Buckeyes should target in the portal?

The transfer portal is full-on crazy right now, with over 700 FBS players potentially changing schools and growing. It’s an absurd number and honestly a scary one. In the ideal scenario, each one of these student-athletes would get a chance to play for another school, but unfortunately, that won’t be the case.

Every school has different needs, some of them use the portal as a way to jump-start a program and others use it to fill gaps left by players who have either left early for the NFL or themselves have entered the portal.

For [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag], it’s the ability to round out a roster and fill some gaps. The Buckeyes recruit at such a high level, the needs aren’t paramount, and filling the gaps is all that is needed. Find out below which prospects I’d love to see in the Scarlet and Gray next fall.

Former 4-star DL, Texas A&M transfer Tunmise Adeleye taking official visit to MSU this weekend

A big-time Spartans’ target in the transfer portal will be on Michigan State’s campus this weekend

A big-time Spartans’ target in the transfer portal will be on Michigan State’s campus this weekend.

Former four-star defensive lineman and top 40 prospect Tunmise Adeleye announced on Twitter that he’ll be taking an official visit to Michigan State this upcoming weekend. Adeleye officially entered the transfer portal this week after his freshman season at Texas A&M.

Coming out of Tompkins High in Katy, Texas, Adeleye ranked as the No. 39 overall prospect and No. 9 defensive lineman in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2021 class. He appeared in two games this past season for the Aggies and recorded six tackles.

The Spartans extended an offer to Adeleye earlier this week and appears to be a major target for Michigan State. The Spartans will be looking to add some key pieces on the defensive line through the portal with a handful of former Spartans entering the transfer portal this week as well.

Michigan State football offers Texas A&M freshman transfer DL Tunmise Adeleye

Michigan State football offers Texas A&M transfer DL Tunmise Adeleye

After a slew of transfers, Michigan State football will need to replenish their defensive line for next season. Enter Tunmise Adeleye, a freshman defensive lineman from Texas A&M who just entered the portal. The Spartans extended an offer to Adeleye on Monday.

Adeleye was the No. 39 ranked prospect in the country in the 2021 class, but only played in two games for the Aggies before deciding to transfer. Rumor is that he is a fan of MSU pass rush specialist and coach Brandon Jordan, which could help bring him to East Lansing.

Texas A&M Player Profile: Defensive Lineman, Tunmise Adeleye

Texas A&M Player Profile: Defensive Lineman, Tunmise Adeleye

Going into the 2022 football season, Aggies Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas A&M roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Jimbo Fisher this season.

Tunmise Adeleye is entering his first full season after redshirting during his true freshman season in 2021, looking to earn a starting position on the defensive line as the 2022 season approaches. As a player at Thompkins Highschool in Katy, Texas. Tunmises’ rise in the player rankings starting after his sophomore and junior season, being named first-team all-district two years in a row, accumulating 53 total tackles and 8 sacks as a sophomore, and as a junior, tallying 45 tackles and 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. Tunmise was named 2021 Under Armour All-American, with over a dozen fellow Aggie signees making the team as a whole. After a solid spring, Tunmise Adeleye will look to continue improving as summer camp nears.

247Sports Composite Ranking

Class of 2021: 4-Star player ranking, 8th ranked player in Texas, 9th ranked defensive lineman in the country

Depth Chart Overview

Tunmise Adeleye (Redshirt Freshman) is projected as the starting defensive end in the defensive line rotation for Texas A&Min the Aggies’ 4-2-5 defensive scheme, led by the first-year defensive coordinator, D.J. Durkin. Adeleye is slated to be in the starting defensive line rotation with edge rusher/ defensive end, Fadil Diggs (Redshirt Sophomore), nose tackle, McKinnley Jackson (Junior), and defensive tackle, Shemar Turner (Sophomore). After missing his senior season due to the Covid Pandemic, Adeleye’s high school tape shows a versatile defensive lineman who has the size to play in a variety of fronts and consistently displays an explosive get off with an impressive hand usage helping his block shedding ability on numerous occasions, combined with great pad level on each play. Tunmise is constantly in the backfield and in pursuit of the quarterback on passing downs, or is the first player in on the tackle, mostly in the backfield on rushing attempts, looking like the most dominant player on the field on every play. Tunmise Adeleye is extremely talented, though inexperienced at the college level, and will need to continue to build on his spring performance during the next two camps heading into the 2022 season if he wants to secure a starting spot on the defensive line.

Florida Gators football in the running for two uncommitted five-stars

The Gators already have the No. 5 recruiting class in the country in 2021, but that ranking could potentially get even better.

The Gators already have the No. 5 recruiting class in the country in 2021, but that ranking could potentially get even better.

In a ranking of the top-10 uncommitted prospects in the 2021 cycle, The Athletic listed two five-star recruits that coach Dan Mullen and the Gators are currently in the running for.

Louisiana defensive tackle Maason Smith and Texas defensive end Tunmise Adeleye are each considering UF as one of their top schools, though Florida likely has an uphill battle to land both.

Here’s The Athletic’s summary of each prospect.

NEXT: DT Maason Smith

The Athletic complimentary of the Florida Gators’ latest work on football recruiting trail

Florida’s upcoming class now stands at 24 members. Marshall, the lone five-star, is the highest-rated of the group, followed by Tyreak Sapp.

Releasing his latest “This week in recruiting” article on August 12 (subscription required), The Athletic’s Ari Wasserman praised the recent work of head coach Dan Mullen and the rest of his Florida Gators coaching staff on the recruiting trail.

“This week, Mullen enjoyed perhaps his best two days on the recruiting trail as Florida’s head coach,” he began.

“Mullen went into South Florida and landed teammates from Miami (Fla.) Palmetto who both rank in the top-100 nationally: (five-star cornerback Jason Marshall) and four-star safety Corey Collier, the No. 83 overall player. Florida’s class jumped to No. 6 nationally with the two commitments.

“We could make this a discussion about how Miami, which is recruiting quite well this season, missed on two local players who could have vaulted its class into the top-three in the nation. Remember, the Hurricanes have two five-star prospects from Miami committed, including defensive tackle Leonard Taylor, who also plays at Palmetto. The Hurricanes had a chance to do something truly remarkable.

“But you have to give credit to Florida for recruiting these two Palmetto stars. Even though they are much closer to Miami’s campus, they are still in-state prospects for the Gators.”

Florida’s upcoming class now stands at 24 members. Marshall, the lone five-star, is the highest-rated of the group, followed by Collier and Fort Lauderdale four-star defensive end Tyreak Sapp.

A name to watch to join this group is Bradenton four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, who decommitted from Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes on August 11.

Playing his first three seasons at Katy (Texas) High School, Tunmise plans to suit up for IMG Academy, one of the nation’s premier talent-producing programs, as a senior.

Florida first extended him an offer on January 29, 2019 and have twice secured his presence on campus, first on February 1 for a Junior Day and again on March 7 for an unofficial visit.

Defensive line coach David Turner and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham have been leading the charge on his recruitment.

On the offensive side of the football, Ocala wide receiver Trevonte Rucker and Loganville, Georgia quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson and wideout Daejon Reynolds lead the way, with another receiver, Jacksonville’s Marcus Burke, not far behind.

As Wasserman mentioned, this collection of pledges now ranks No. 6 in America, per the 247Sports Composite, trailing only Ohio State, Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide, Dabo Swinney’s Clemson Tigers, Mario Cristobal’s Oregon Ducks, and Jeremy Pruitt’s Tennessee Volunteers.

Ed Orgeron’s LSU Tigers, Clay Helton’s USC Trojans, and Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines round out the top-10.

After Tunmise Adeleye decommits from Ohio State, the replacements

Tunmise Adeleye pulled his commitment to Ohio State, but there are some potential big names to replace him in the recruiting game.

Before final word on the 2020 season for the Big Ten was announced, the Buckeyes received word that defensive end recruit Tunmise Adeleye had pulled his commitment. Adeleye was the sixth rated defensive end coming out of high school for the 2021 class, and the fourth-highest recruit for the Buckeyes. The defensive line is stacked, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to replace the loss.

There are really two top guys the Buckeyes should, and one they have, tried to recruit to replace the loss of Adeleye. There are still plenty of options behind the ranking of Adeleye, but there are two that stand out above him and one has been recruited by Ohio State.

The first name on the list, well everyone’s list, is Korey Foreman. The consensus top recruit for 2021 is on a lot of teams’ recruiting efforts. The top spots that have been reported so far are USC, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, and some others. If I had to guess, it would be hard to pull Foreman from his choice of schools, possible, but it doesn’t seem likely.

That leaves us with the second and most possible name on the list. J.T. Tuimoloau has already, reportedly, been visited by assistant head coach Larry Johnson. While Tuimoloau is listed as a defensive tackle, many see him as a defensive end, and he has played quite a bit there in high school. With a stacked defensive tackle roster, enticing him to defensive end is beneficial to both sides.

If both possibilities fall out, there are still options like Monkell Goodwin, but Foreman and Tuimoloau need to be targeted. Luckily, the Buckeyes have stocked the cupboard on defensive line and have outstanding coaching. Adeleye leaving hurts, but it could be worse. We wish nothing but the best to Adeleye, and look forward to who the Buckeyes bring in to replace him.

Former Texas target Tunmise Adeleye decommits from Ohio State

Texas could be back in play for DE Tunmise Adeleye after his decommitment from Ohio State. He is a four-star prospect in the 2021 class.

Texas could be back in play for defensive end Tunmise Adeleye after his decommitment from Ohio State. A four-star prospect in the 2021 class, Adeleye is originally from Katy, Texas. He transferred for his senior season, playing at IMG Academy in Florida.

In his tweet, Adeleye thanked the Buckeyes’ coaching staff for “taking [him] in as one of their own since the day [he] committed.”

“This experience has been nothing but a good one and I have nothing but love for Coach Johnson on my end,” said Adeleye.

While he never gave a reason for decommitting from Ohio State, it may be because of the options the Buckeyes has in the 2021 class. Defensive end Jack Sawyer, the No. 3 player in the country, is currently committed to Ohio State.

To add on, the No. 2 player in the country, J.T. Tuimoloau, is 92% to Ohio State on 247Sports crystal ball. There would simply be too many skilled players in a single recruiting class for Adeleye to compete against.

Now, Texas can try to rebuild a relationship with a recruit who has publicly dissed them in the past. Adeleye was asked on Instagram why he did not commit to Texas.

“Cause in the past 5 years they’ve only sent 15% of their 4 and 5 star recruits to the NFL draft.”

According to 247Sports in-state rivals Texas A&M is seen as a favorite for the four-star. Nick Saban and Alabama could also be on the hunt for another edge rusher.

Texas’ director of recruiting Bryan Carrington had something to say about Adeleye’s decommitment.

It will be a long shot for the Longhorns to go after the soon to be five-star. However, Texas is in need of another staple recruit to sure up their 2021 class. Adeleye could be just that.

Gators recruiting target four-star DE Tunmise Adeleye decommits from OSU

Four-star strongside defensive end prospect Tunmise Adeleye announced on Tuesday his decision to decommit from OSU for the 2021 class cycle.

Four-star strongside defensive end prospect Tunmise Adeleye announced on Tuesday via Twitter his decision to decommit from Ohio State University for the 2021 recruiting class cycle.

The country’s No. 4 rated strongside defensive end and No. 30 overall recruit in the 2021 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings out of prospect powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., committed to Ohio State back in April. At the time he said it was a lifelong dream of his to be Buckeye, but it appears that he has had a change of heart.

OSU is one of four schools listed by 247Sports as “warm” interest locations for the young defensive lineman’s services, which also includes the University of Florida, Alabama and Texas A&M.

While there are some concerns regarding size and athleticism, the 6-foot-3-inch, 245-pounder would add some more beef to a defensive line class that already includes five-star SDE Tyreak Sapp and three-star Justus Boone, as well as three-star defensive tackles Christopher Thomas and Desmond Watson, the latter who just recently committed to the Gators back on July 30.
