NEWS: Wisconsin football loses another member of its class of 2025

Another member of Wisconsin’s class of 2025 decommits

Class of 2025 athlete Cody Haddad de-committed from Wisconsin Monday afternoon, according to 247Sports’ Allen Trieu.

Haddad’s departure brings Wisconsin’s class of 2025 to seven total commitments — down from having nine just one week ago. The Ohio native is the second member of the class to decommit, joining three-star defensive lineman Torin Pettaway.

Haddad is 247Sports’ No. 528 player in the class of 2025, No. 37 athlete and No. 16 recruit from his home state of Ohio.

This news drops after the safety/athlete recently visited Big Ten rival Ohio State, that after the Buckeyes extended an offer after his commitment to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin’s class of 2025 is on the slide in the national rankings, though months still remain before the class is finalized.

4-star WR Karmello English decommits from Auburn

He was Auburn’s highest-ranked commit before backing off his pledge to the Tigers.

Auburn’s recruiting class suffered a big blow Wednesday morning when four-star wide receiver [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] announced he had decommitted from the Tigers on Twitter.

English was Auburn’s highest-ranked commit at No. 162 overall in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He was also the No. 22 wide receiver and the No. 14 player in the state of Alabama.

The 5-foot-11, 182-pounder is from Phenix City,  Alabama, and committed to Auburn back on July 4. Here is his statement announcing the decision:

First and foremost I would like to thank god and the University of Auburn and their great coaching staff I am grateful to the staff for providing me a opportunity to represent WDE as a student-athlete.. I have had several conversations with my family and have came to a difficult decision.. I will be decommitting from the University of Auburn and reopening my recruitment.

Auburn’s recruiting class now has seven members and four-star wide receiver Daquayvious Sorey is their only receiver. However, that could be changing on Thursday as four-star wide receiver Adam Hopkins is expected to announce his commitment to Auburn.

LSU basketball loses final commit in 2022 recruiting class

With Yohan Traore backing off his pledge, the Tigers’ current recruiting class sits vacant.

When Tigers athletic director Scott Woodward made the decision to fire men’s basketball coach Will Wade on March 13 as a result of the NCAA’s investigation into the program, it would have been reasonable to guess that some roster attrition was likely to follow.

What has happened since for LSU, however, could be deemed a worst-case scenario. The Tigers lost both of their 2022 signees in the wake of Wade’s departure when Julian Phillips and Devin Ree were released from their letters of intent and decommitted.

Now, LSU has lost the final piece of its 2022 class as five-star Glendale (Arizona) Dream City Christian center Yohan Traore backed off his pledge to the Tigers.

LSU also lost its lone commit in the 2023 class in five-star point guard Marvel Allen.

Now, the Tigers are left with a completely bare 2022 class with not much time to get things fixed. National signing day is on April 13, meaning new coach Matt McMahon has just over three weeks to try to find at least one player to add to the class.

Barring something unforeseen, the transfer portal will likely be this team’s best bet to rebuild for 2022-23, and given the state of college sports, it’s very likely McMahon could target some of his former Murray State players to make the jump to the power conference ranks.

Top 2024 running back decommits from Gators

Gibson is the No. 1 running back in 2024, per 247Sports.

While it’s always nice to pick up a pledge from a recruit early in their high school career, as it allows you to start planning out roster decisions years in advance, there are certainly downsides.

Those players frequently change their minds as their recruiting process picks up and they land more offers, and that’s the exact situation Florida finds itself in with 2024 running back Jerrick Gibson. The four-star prospect (and No. 1 running back in his class, per 247Sports) committed to the Gators way back in July, but on Tuesday, the Jonesboro (Georgia) Mundy Hill product made the decision to reopen his recruitment.

As Gibson mentions, Florida was the first FBS school to offer him back in June under the previous staff, and he made his commitment just over a month later. Since then, he’s picked up offers from schools like Michigan State, Arkansas and South Carolina, and he’s unofficially visited in-state Georgia.

The Gators may still be a factor in his recruitment down the line, but for now, they need to start looking elsewhere for running backs in 2024. Luckily, they have nearly two years to figure that situation out.

With Gibson’s departure from the class, Florida is left with no players currently committed in its 2024 class and just one in 2023. Coach Billy Napier certainly has some work to do, but he also enters his next two recruiting cycles with an almost entirely blank canvas.

Former Wisconsin target decommits from Northwestern

Former Wisconsin target decommits from Northwestern

Former Wisconsin basketball class of 2022 target Rowan Brumbaugh decommitted from Northwestern earlier today, according to a report from Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.

Brumbaugh committed to the Wildcats back in August. He chose Northwestern at the time instead of a lengthy list of offers including Wisconsin, Maryland, Penn State, Oregon and Georgetown.

The Northfield, Massachusetts native is 247Sports’ No. 85 player in the class of 2022, No. 11 point guard and No. 2 recruit from the state of Massachusetts.

Wisconsin currently has one commit in its class of 2022–three-star shooting guard Connor Essegian. We’ll now see if the Badgers return to pursue the recently-decommitted highly-touted four-star point guard.

Offensive lineman Drew Bobo flips to Georgia

Auburn is down an offensive lineman.

After landing Austin Ausberry to start the day, Auburn lost an important commitment later in the day.

Three-star offensive tackle Drew Bobo flipped his commitment to Georgia.

Drew is the son of former Auburn and Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and when Auburn parted ways with his dad back in November, it was expected that Drew would likely be heading elsewhere.

The 6-foot-5 and 300-pound  Bobo had been committed since Oct. 10 and his decommitment leaves 3-star Eston Harris Jr. as Auburn’s only commit along the offensive line with the early signing period days away.

Three-star LB Eoghan Kerry decommits from Texas

Kerry is the third player to decommit from Texas this week.

It has been a rough week for Steve Sarkisian’s 2022 recruiting class.

There is no doubt that the disappointing 5-7 season has had a major impact on recruiting.

Three-star linebacker Eoghan Kerry reopened his recruitment on Saturday making it three straight days with a decommitment for Texas. Kerry joined running back Jamarion Miller and wide receiver Armani Winfield in backing off their Texas pledges.

The 6-foot-3 linebacker plays on one of the best high school football teams in the country. Mater Dei high school in Calif. is currently ranked No.1 in the nation according to Maxpreps.com.

Arlington Martin product Trevell Martin remains the only inside linebacker committed in Texas’ 2022 class.

Texas is currently holding on to the No. 8 ranked 2022 class in the nation according to 247sports. Good for second in the Big 12 conference, behind rival Oklahoma.

3-star 2022 defensive back decommits from Auburn

Shortly after Auburn named Zac Etheridge the program’s new defensive backs coach, the Tiger lost one of their oldest 2022 commits in Andre Stewart.

Shortly after Auburn named Zac Etheridge the program’s new defensive backs coach, the Tiger lost one of their oldest 2022 commits.

Andre Stewart, a three-star cornerback from Snellville, Georgia, announced on Friday that he has reopened his commitment. He had been commited since July 2019.

The 6-foot, 169-pound Stewart is the No. 34 cornerback and No. 361. prospect in the 2022 class according to 247Sports.

His de-commitment leaves Auburn with two commits in the 2022 class: 3-star star corners Brian Dilworth and Jarell Stinson.
