Florida Gators football in the running for two uncommitted five-stars

The Gators already have the No. 5 recruiting class in the country in 2021, but that ranking could potentially get even better.

7. DT Maason Smith

The particulars: Five-star prospect from Houma (La.) Terrebonne
Last month’s rank: No. 3
The buzz: Smith is the No. 19 overall player and the No. 3 defensive tackle in the 2021 class. He’s from Louisiana, so everyone should have a pretty good idea of what’s likely to happen here. Yes, he’s also considering Alabama, Georgia and Florida, but it seems pretty clear that Ed Orgeron is going to be able to keep him home. Kids from Louisiana are, more often than not, Tigers. But what makes Smith interesting is his close friendship with Foreman, and though there have been some rumblings that the two want to play together in college, a lot is probably going to have to happen for that to become a reality. Still, imagine a school signing Smith and Foreman. That would be a pretty insane combo, so Smith’s recruitment is one of the most impactful in the country.
