Another big recruiting weekend ahead for the Oklahoma Sooners

A big recruiting weekend for the Oklahoma Sooners is on the horizon. Three targets to make their decision.

Recruiting has been a hot topic in Norman, Oklahoma, as of late. The Sooners finished the last week landing five commitments including a pair of four-star offensive tackles in Jake Taylor and Jacob Sexton. You can also add four-star defensive lineman Derrick Moore to the mix. Overall, the 2022 class sits at No. 5 in the 247Sports composite team rankings.

Looking ahead to the weekend, it could be yet another big weekend for the Oklahoma Sooners on the recruiting trail. A pair of 2023 highly-touted prospects are set to make their decision as well as a 2022 tight end. OU is looking to be in a good spot. As far as the 2023 class is concerned they have yet to land a pledge but it is early in the process. That could all change after the weekend if all goes the way of the Crimson and Cream.

Lincoln Riley and company are currently sitting with 13 commits in their 2022 class led by Luther Burden, the nation’s top receiver. However, he could be catching passes after 2023’s No. 2 rated quarterback Malachi Nelson is fully expected to pledge to OU. He will be the top commitment to watch over the next few days.

Sooners Wire takes a look at the trio of players making their announcement in the coming days.

UGA football recruiting update: Dawgs lose, gain commitment

The Georgia Bulldogs have gained a commitment from McEachern defensive tackle Seven Cloud. UGA lost a commitment from 4-star Treyaun Webb.

The Georgia Bulldogs have gained a commitment from defensive tackle Seven Cloud, who is unrated and is a member of the class of 2023. Cloud plays high school football for McEachern in Powder Springs, Georgia.

Seven Cloud is currently only a sophomore in high school, so he has a lot of time to develop. The unrated defensive tackle is 6 feet, 3 inches and weighs 325 pounds. He’s received scholarship offers from Tennessee, Georgia, and East Carolina.

Cloud announced his commitment via his Twitter account:

Treyaun Webb verbally committed to the University of Georgia much earlier than most prospects do. Webb is from Jacksonville, Florida and plays football at Trinity Christian Academy. He’s currently a sophomore in high school and committed to UGA during the fall of his freshman year.

Now, Treyaun Webb has decommitted from the University of Georgia. Webb did include the Georgia Bulldogs in his top six, which he announced via his Twitter account:

It was unrealistic to expect Treyaun Webb to stick with his commitment since he made his decision so early. Georgia is still in the top six for the 2023 four-star athlete along with Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Penn State.

Webb only 188 pounds and is six feet tall. He is a four-star prospect and as the No. 32 best player in the country.

USC Football: Trojans extend offer to Georgia RB commit

The USC Trojans extended an offer to Treyaun Webb, a rising high school sophomore from Florida who committed early to Georgia.

The USC Trojans are one of over 30 teams to offer a scholarship to class of 2023 running back Treyaun Webb, despite his early commitment to the University of Georgia.

Webb announced a verbal commitment to Georgia after his freshman season at Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy, saying he “decided to find a home early.”

“I am blessed to say that I have found one,” Webb wrote at the time. “My dream school has always been the University of Georgia and they have shown nothing but loyalty throughout this process.”

However, that has not stopped high-profile programs like USC and Oklahoma from bombarding him with offers – which could push him to change his mind.

Webb is being viewed as a running back by USC, based on his decision to tag running backs coach Mike Jinks in his tweet, but some teams – including LSU – view him as a potential defensive back at the next level.

Regardless, Webb’s size and athleticism will make him a top-100 prospect in the class of 2023 when the rankings come out this summer, and he would be an outstanding, albeit unlikely, get for the Trojans.
