Alabama recruiting target cancels visit to Tennessee this weekend

2023 LB Arion Carter was scheduled to visit Tennessee this weekend but has canceled his visit.

Alabama’s coaching staff has been in pursuit of 2023 linebacker Arion Carter ever since they extended an offer. Carter is currently committed to Memphis but is entertaining other programs including the Crimson Tide.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Carter will not be visiting Tennessee this weekend for the Vols’ matchup against Kentucky. That comes just days after the Tennessee native received a crystal ball prediction in favor of Alabama. If that is any indication for the future, it could be a good one for the Crimson Tide.

Carter has already made two trips to Tuscaloosa. He is also scheduled to be in town for the Iron Bowl. He will take official visits to Ohio State (Nov. 12) and Michigan (Nov. 19). The month of November will likely determine where Carter will land. Alabama has the last visit, so that is certainly a good sign.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Carter’s recruitment as well as other Alabama football recruiting news.

Alabama coaching staff checking in on 2023 combo guard from Maryland

Alabama’s coaching staff checked in on 2023 combo guard Bryce Lindsay on Wednesday. He plays for IMG Academy.

Alabama’s coaching staff has been active on the recruiting trail for both the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes. On Wednesday, they went in person to see 2023 combo guard Bryce Lindsay. Lindsay transferred to IMG Academy from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lindsay had been committed to South Carolina for almost two months before announcing his decommitment. Since then, he has re-opened his recruitment. Alabama has not yet extended an official offer to Lindsay.

Currently, Alabama has two commitments from the 2023 class: small forward Sam Walters and point guard R.J. Johnson. Coach Nate Oats and the rest of his staff have prioritized landing some of the best prospects in the nation over the past few years.

Lindsay has been garnering more interest as his senior season approaches. It will be interesting to see if Lindsay extends him an official offer in the future.

Roll Tide Wire will now take a look at Bryce Linday’s recruiting profile.

Catching up with 2023 four-star DL Daevin Hobbs about his recruitment

Daevin Hobbs is a defensive line target for the Crimson Tide out of the 2023 recruiting class. He is being recruited by other SEC program…

Alabama has shown recent interest in 2023 defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs. Since offering Hobbs in early June, the Crimson Tide has hosted him for an unofficial visit. He is also planning to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 22.

Hobbs is regarded as a four-star according to 247Sports’ rankings. He is listed at 6-foot-4, 262 pounds. His sheer athleticism and size stand out above other recruits. Hobbs plays both defensive end and tight end for Jay M. Robinson High School. He also plays for the school’s basketball team as well.

Hobbs has been receiving a lot of interest lately from programs like Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. With that in mind, he has several official visits scheduled during the fall. Roll Tide Wire was able to catch up with Hobbs in an interview about his recruitment, senior season, and several key factors that will come into play when he makes his decision.

Five-star 2023 DL from Texas includes Alabama in his top seven

2023 five-star defensive lineman David Hicks Jr. released his top seven schools. Alabama was one of the schools listed.

On Friday, 2023 defensive lineman David Hicks Jr. announced his top seven schools. One of the schools listed was Alabama. The other six programs in the mix are Texas A&M, Texas, Oregon, Miami, Michigan State and Oklahoma.

Hicks Jr. is regarded as a five-star according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds. Interestingly enough, his size likely comes from his father. David Hicks Sr. played linebacker at Grambling State in the early 2000s before entering the pros. He is also a former bodybuilder in the state of Texas.

Although Hicks Jr. received his offer in March of 2021, he hasn’t taken any kind of visit to Alabama. Since the dead period opened up at the beginning of June, he took three official visits and one unofficial visit to other programs. The Texas native took his official visits to Michigan State (June 3), Miami (June 10), and Oregon (June 17). Then, he took a last-minute unofficial visit to Texas A&M on June 25.

The Tide have their work cut out for them if they still plan on recruiting Hicks Jr. It won’t be easy prying him away from the midwest. We will wait and see how his recruitment plays out in the future.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football and the recruiting trail.
