Will the Seattle Seahawks make the 2020 NFL playoffs?

Yes: -139 | No: +115

Since the Seahawks drafted Russell Wilson in the 2012 NFL Draft, the team has failed to miss the playoffs just once (2017). Coach Pete Carroll knows how to get his team to play to the fullest of its potential and it is always a contender in the NFC.

The 2020 season should be no different as the Seahawks look poised to make another Super Bowl run. Led by Wilson, Seattle is evolving into a more pass-happy team with WRs Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf and Phillip Dorsett, acquired this offseason through free agency.

The Seahawks will certainly run the ball a ton, as well as they are hoping a few new additions to their offensive line will improve that phase of the game.

The defense has dropped off some over the last few years, but it’s tough to bet against the Seahawks making the playoffs. The combination of the head coach, quarterback and organization make YES (-139) to make the playoffs a fairly safe bet. Expect Seattle to challenge the 49ers for the NFC West crown and to possibly earn the No. 1 seed in the conference.

How many games will the Seattle Seahawks win in 2020? Bands

BAND ODDS
0-4 Wins +6500
5-8 Wins +160
9-12 Wins -189
13-16 Wins +1400

As previously mentioned, the Seahawks have missed the playoffs just once since drafting Wilson. What is even more impressive is that Seattle hasn’t had a losing season since picking its franchise quarterback. It has won double-digit games in seven of the last eight seasons with the most wins coming in 2013 with 13.

Betting on the Seahawks to win between 9-12 GAMES is a safe bet and even a smart one at -189. While the odds aren’t fantastic, it’s still a worthwhile bet considering how safe it is.

How many games will the Seattle Seahawks win in 2020? Exact number

At BetMGM, you can bet on the exact number of wins the Seahawks will have in 2020. If you are searching for the best value, 11 WINS (+425) appears to be the best bet on the board.

Seattle won 11 games in 2019 and its roster appears to be even better this season, especially on defense with the additions of LB Jordyn Brooks, DE Bruce Irvin and CB Quinton Dunbar. While the schedule could be difficult, especially with the strength of the conference, 11 wins are certainly possible.

If you are very optimistic about the Seahawks chances this season, 12 wins (+800) is a fun longs-hot bet. Can Seattle win one more game than it did last season? If Metcalf and Lockett can continue to help elevate the passing game, it’s certainly on the table. Look for the Seahawks to be a Super Bowl contender again this season.

2020 NFC West Division Predictions: Best bets for who will win and exact standings

Looking at the NFL betting odds to win the NFC West Division in 2020 and predicting the exact order of the standings.

The San Francisco 49ers won the NFC West Division in 2019 but will they be able to repeat? Below, we look at the BetMGM betting odds for the NFC West Division in 2020 and make our best bets for who’ll win the division title and predict the exact order of the division standings.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Monday, May 25 at 11:25 a.m. ET.

2020 NFC West Division bets: Who will win?

Here are the odds to win the division.

  • 49ers +105
  • Seattle Seahawks +240
  • Los Angeles Rams +350
  • Arizona Cardinals +1000

The 49ers played in the Super Bowl last season and should still be considered the favorite to win the division. The Seahawks look like they are getting worse defensively, while the Cardinals look much improved, but not yet on the 49ers’ level. With the addition of first-round picks WR Brandon Aiyuk and DL Javon Kinlaw, San Francisco still should win the West, although it will probably be a more competitive division. Take the 49ERS (+105).

2020 NFC West Division bets: Who will finish second?

Here are the odds.

  • 49ers +180
  • Seahawks +195
  • Rams +250
  • Cardinals +600

As long as the Seahawks have Russell Wilson at quarterback, despite the fact the defense is not as good as it was when they were going to Super Bowls, they are always a good bet to be a playoff team. Since we have the 49ers winning the division, the best bet for second place are the SEAHAWKS (+195).

2020 NFC West Division bets: Who will finish third?

Here are the odds for third place.

  • Rams +175
  • Seahawks +210
  • Cardinals +325
  • 49ers +380

Here is where you can make some money. The Rams are favored for third place, but they are a mess. They lost key offensive and defensive players (RB Todd Gurley, WR Brandin Cooks, DB Eric Weddle and LBs Cory Littleton, Dante Fowler and Clay Matthews). The Cardinals were three defensive stops from finishing 8-8 last season and had arguably the worst defense in the league. They added three new defensive starters through free agency and drafted four other defensive players, including No. 8 overall pick Isaiah Simmons (Clemson). So, Arizona’s defense should be much improved. The offense now has WR DeAndre Hopkins, while second-year QB Kyler Murray is expected to take a leap in his development. The Cardinals will make the leap and pass the Rams. They might not make the playoffs, but the best bet for third place is to take the CARDINALS (+325).

2020 NFC West Division bets: Who will finish fourth?

Here are the odds.

  • Cardinals -182
  • Rams +300
  • Seahawks +500
  • 49ers +1400

The Rams are in transition. They are not in a good cap situation. QB Jared Goff regressed, and they lost so many starters. With the expected improvement of the Cardinals, the Rams get passed up. Take the RAMS (+300) and make some money off the third- and fourth-place teams.

2020 NFC West Division bets: Exact order of standings

The exact order combo of 49ers-Seahawks-Cardinals-Rams will win you big money at +1000. That is your best bet.

Russell Wilson posts hilarious ‘Happy Gilmore’ spoof to roast Tom Brady

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson posted a hilarious video on Twitter as a way to talk some friendly trash to Tom Brady.

Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson are taking on Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods today in The Match: Champions for Charity.

The event itself is sure to provide entertainment and plenty of friendly trash talking between the competitors.

But, it seems the trash talking will extend beyond the golf course, too, at least in the case of Tom Brady. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson posted the hilarious video below on Twitter, spoofing off an infamous scene from the movie “Happy Gilmore.” Aside from the terrible dubbing, it’s fantastic.

Take a look.

Brady, of course, still gets the last laugh, as his Patriots shocked Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX thanks to Malcolm Butler’s game-saving interception at the goal line.

Former 49ers RB Carlos Hyde signs with Seahawks

Former San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde once terrorized the Seattle Seahawks. Now he’ll wear their uniform.

Former 49ers running back Carlos Hyde finally found a home after a long wait in free agency. Hyde is set to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, joining a long list of players who’ve played on both sides of the NFC West rivalry.

San Francisco selected Hyde with the No. 57 overall pick in the 2014 draft. The Ohio State product only had 83 carries as a rookie but scored four touchdowns while backing up Frank Gore. He was limited to seven games in his second season, then broke out in Year 3 with 988 yards and six touchdowns on 217 carries in 13 games. Injuries kept him from reaching the 1,000-yard mark for the first time.

His final season in the Bay Area came in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s first season. Hyde, even on a bad 49ers club, posted 938 yards and eight touchdowns in the first 16-game season of his career.

Hyde signed a three-year deal with the Browns during the 2018 offseason, and was traded to Jacksonville after six games in Cleveland. He finished the 2018 campaign with the Jaguars and signed with the Texans for the 2019 season. Hyde had his best season as a pro in Houston, piling up a career-high 1,070 yards and five touchdowns.

Now he’ll face the 49ers twice as a member of the Seahawks, a team he fared well against while playing in the NFC West. In six games vs. Seattle, Hyde averaged 5.24 yards per carry on 74 attempts.

If UGA was fielding a starting team based on current NFL players, here’s what it would look like

We assembled a starting lineup full of former Georgia football players who are currently on NFL rosters.

Georgia continues to be one of college football’s leading producers of NFL talent, with seven players being taken in the 2020 NFL Draft.

At almost every position does Georgia have an NFL star — linebacker and running back being the most notable.

From veteran passer Matthew Stafford to new Falcons back Todd Gurley, to rookie kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, former Georgia Bulldogs look to put up big numbers again in 2020.

We’ve gone through an exercise of picking the best at each position to field a starting team of former Georgia players, all from a current pool of those currently on NFL rosters.

Remember, free agents did not make the team.

So, let’s get it started shall we?

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Seattle Seahawks win in 2020?

Assessing the Seattle Seahawks’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Seattle Seahawks win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Seattle Seahawks’ 2019 season

The Seahawks went 11-5, qualifying for the NFC postseason as a wild card and the No. 5 seed – the San Francisco 49ers won the NFC West at 13-3. Seattle ended up going just 4-4 at Century Link Field, but posted a sparkling 7-1 mark on the road. In addition, the Seahawks were 8-4 vs. NFC teams and 3-1 against the AFC, but they were simply mediocre against division rivals at 3-3.

For betting purposes, they finished 7-8-1 against the spread with an 8-7-1 Over/Under record in the regular season.

Seattle Seahawks’ 2020 offseason changes

The Seahawks were not terribly busy in the free agency market. It wasn’t totally quiet, however, as they did retain DT Jarran Reed, inking him to a two-year, $23 million deal.

The Seahawks improved their defense in the NFL Draft with the addition of LB Jordyn Brooks (Texas Tech) and EDGE Darrell Taylor (Tennessee) in the first two rounds. OL Damien Lewis (LSU) was picked in the third, TE Colby Parkinson (Stanford) and RB Deejay Dallas (Miami) were selected in the fourth, while EDGE Alton Robinson (Syracuse) was grabbed in the fifth round. Seattle’s final two picks were WR Freddie Swain (Florida) and TE Stephen Sullivan (LSU) in the sixth and seventh rounds, respectively.

Seattle Seahawks’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Thursday, May 7 at 11 p.m. ET.

Projected wins: 9.5 / OVER: +120 / UNDER: -145

The books aren’t feeling the Seahawks and their personnel changes during the offseason. In addition, while they’re not likely to go .500 again in front of their boisterous fans, the home schedule is rather daunting. There are a couple of certain victories, but a lot of difficult tasks, too. In addition, they’re not going 7-1 on the road again. Long, cross-country treks to the Eastern Time Zone for all five of their non-divisional road games will take a lot of wind out of their sails. UNDER 9.5 (-145) is the way to go here.

Texans, Bears linked to ex-Saints Pro Bowl guard Larry Warford

The New Orleans Saints cut Larry Warford, their Pro Bowl right guard. The Texans and Bears have already shown interest in the free agent.

[jwplayer AihxPLHO-ThvAeFxT]

The New Orleans Saints were unable to find a trade partner before releasing right guard Larry Warford, but he’s already receiving interest as a free agent. Warford was called up to the Pro Bowl as an alternate in each of his three seasons with the Saints, but a step back in performance before a contract year in 2020 prompted the team to draft Michigan interior lineman Cesar Ruiz in the first round of this year’s NFL draft.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported Friday evening that the Houston Texans were a team looking to get in on Warford’s sweepstakes, potentially reuniting him with former teammate Senio Kelemete (who started 14 games at left guard in 2018 before his 2019 campaign ended with a Week 1 wrist injury). The Texans have struggled to field a consistent five-man lineup in front of franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson, so Warford’s streak of 101 starts (plus six playoff appearances) would be appealing.

Another team to watch on Warford might be the Chicago Bears. The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs reported that the Bears would consider a run at Warford, whose only hurdle at starting in the Windy City would be Seattle Seahawks draft bust Germain Ifedi (signed by the Bears as a free agent earlier this year). Longtime Saints personnel director Ryan Pace is now the Bears general manager, so he may have a good idea of what Warford offers.

What’s frustrating about this immediate interest from teams around the league is that the Saints apparently couldn’t cut a deal with any of these teams before releasing Warford. That’s probably due to his salary — any team trading for the 29-year-old would be on the hook for his $7.65 million base salary, but now that he’s a free agent they can negotiate a contract much more favorable against the salary cap. It’ll be interesting to see where he lands up.
