NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the New York Giants win in 2020?

Assessing the New York Giants’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the New York Giants win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

New York Giants’ 2019 season

It was another disappointing season for the Giants in 2019 as they finished the year 4-12. It was their third straight season with fewer than six wins and a bottom-two finish in the NFC East. After the poor season, the Giants fired the entire coaching staff, including head coach Pat Shurmur.

New York Giants’ 2020 offseason changes

The biggest change for the 2020 New York Giants is new head coach Joe Judge. After coaching the wide receivers and special teams for the New England Patriots, Judge was brought over to be a culture changer for the Giants. One of his first moves was bringing in an experienced offensive mind in Jason Garrett, formerly head coach of the rival Dallas Cowboys. Garrett will run the offense and Patrick Graham will run the defense.

As for personnel changes, the Giants upgraded their offensive line, using the No. 4 pick on Georgia OT Andrew Thomas. They also signed veteran swing OT Cameron Fleming as a potential starter on the right side.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants signed former Packers LB Blake Martinez, but their biggest defensive signing was former Carolina Panthers CB James Bradberry. Bradberry started 60 games for the Panthers since being drafted in 2016 and he has emerged as one of the top defensive backs in all of football. He should be a major upgrade over what the team had at the position last season.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Friday, May 8 at 11 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 6.5  / OVER: +110 / UNDER: -130

The Giants will face the AFC North and the NFC West this season, two of the tougher divisions in the NFL. They are also the third-best team in the NFC East (at best) and that could spell trouble for the Giants.

While it’s fair to think they will be better than they were last season, expecting them to win seven or more games given their schedule seems like a stretch. If QB Daniel Jones can make a leap in Year 2, then they should be able to compete against better teams, but bet the UNDER 6.5 (-130) as the safest play.

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the New Orleans Saints win in 2020?

Assessing the New Orleans Saints’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the New Orleans Saints win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

New Orleans Saints’ 2019 season

The Saints went 13-3 last season en route to an NFC South Division title. They were the only team in the division to finish with an overall record above .500, but that will likely change with both the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers improving with significant personnel moves in free agency as well as the NFL Draft. In 2019, the Saints coasted to a 7-1 record on the road, a 9-3 record vs. the NFC and a 5-1 mark inside the division.

As far as gambling goes, they covered 11 of 16 regular-season games, while posting a 9-7 Over/Under mark.

New Orleans Saints’ 2020 offseason changes

The most notable addition via free agency was adding QB Jameis Winston, who joins a crowded quarterback room with future Hall of Famer Drew Brees and Swiss Army knife Taysom Hill. The team brought back Brees on a two-year, $50 million deal. QB Teddy Bridgewater, last season’s backup, moved to the division-rival Carolina Panthers. WR Emmanuel Sanders was inked to a two-year deal, while DT David Onyemata and OG Andrus Peat were re-signed.

The Saints gave their trio of quarterbacks some added protection by nabbing OL Cesar Ruiz (Michigan), a natural center, in the first-round of the NFL Draft. Ruiz is projected to start at right guard, with C Erik McCoy still in the middle. LB Zack Baun (Wisconsin) and TE Adam Trautman (Dayton) were picked in the third round, and QB Tommy Stevens (Mississippi State) was selected in the seventh. These were the Saints’ only 2020 draft selections as the rest of their picks had been traded away in previous deals.

Projected wins: 10.5 / OVER: +100 / UNDER: -120

Yes, the Buccaneers added QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski, and the Falcons improved also, through free agency and the draft. But the Saints are still the class of this division, and they should at least win four games against their rivals. Playing in the Dome is still a daunting task, they have one of the better O-lines in the NFC and their skill position players are strong, too. Even if they win two fewer games than last season, they still will cash an “Over” ticket. At even money the play is OVER 10.5 WINS (+100).

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the New England Patriots win in 2020?

Assessing the New England Patriots’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the New England Patriots win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

New England Patriots’ 2019 season

It was another very successful season for the Patriots, making the postseason yet again, although they lost in the wild card round. In the regular season, they went 12-4, winning an 11the consecutive AFC East title.

Against the spread, they finished 9-7 with a 7-9 Over/Under record in the regular season.

New England Patriots’ 2020 offseason changes

This offseason brought a ton of changes for the Pats. They released longtime K Stephen Gostkowski. QB Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 years with New England. They also lost LB Jamie Collins, LB Kyle Van Noy, DT Danny Shelton, C Ted Karras and WR Phillip Dorsett.

They signed QB Brian Hoyer, DL Beau Allen and WR Damiere Byrd.

They didn’t have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Their top pick was S Kyle Dugger out of Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University in the second round. They also added pass rusher Josh Uche (Michigan) in the second round.

New England Patriots’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Friday, May 8 at 2:45 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 9.5 / OVER: +150 / UNDER: -182

The Patriots appear to be rebuilding. They lost their quarterback and surprisingly, haven’t really replaced him. As of now, it looks like Jarrett Stidham, their 2019 fourth-round pick, could be their starter. Their top defense has lost very important players. They play a first-place schedule with a weakened roster. Luckily, they play in the AFC East, which appears to be soft, but they also have to play the NFC West and the AFC West, including the Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

This appears to be the season that the Patriots hit rock bottom. They have a depleted roster and a terrible salarly cap situation. This will be the first time since 2002 they do not win at least 10 games. Take the UNDER 9.5 (-182) this year on the Pats.

2020 NFL schedule: 5 best games for betting

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs
— Week 1: Thursday, Sept. 10, 8:20 p.m. ET

Few games on the NFL schedule draw the same national appeal of the season opener each and every year. With the beginning of the 2020 NFL season offering hope to sports fans going through withdrawals amid the pandemic, this year’s opener means even more than usual.

BetMGM has already posted spreads and moneylines for each Week 1 game, giving bettors something to help them pass the time until the return of the other major sports. The Chiefs open as monster -500 favorites over the Texans (+375) while laying 9.5 points on the spread.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Friday, May 8 at 2 a.m. ET.

Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints
— Week 16: Friday, Dec. 25, 4:30 p.m. ET

The standalone game on Christmas Day will see the Vikings and RB Dalvin Cook looking for a repeat of the wild card-round upset of the Saints at Mercedes-Benz Superdome. With the two teams expected to be in contention for a division title this season, this game could mean even more for bettors holding onto futures tickets.

Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
— Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 18, 4:25 p.m. ET

New Buccaneers QB Tom Brady will go head-to-head with Packers QB Aaron Rodgers for the first time as a member of the NFC. The Buccaneers’ schedule is flush with five primetime games, and Brady will face Saints QB Drew Brees twice as division rivals.  But it’s this Sunday afternoon spot against the reigning NFC North champs which could carry the most intrigue.

Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots
— Week 16: Monday, Dec. 28, 8:15 p.m. ET

This Week 16 battle could prove to be the day Bills fans and Patriots haters have been waiting for since Brady made his first NFL start in 2001. The Bills look to finally overthrow the Pats in the AFC East and this may be their shot at clinching the division crown. Doing so on the road would likely be even sweeter for Bills Mafia.

Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens
— Week 3: Monday, Sept. 28, 8:15 p.m. ET

The only thing this matchup lacks in appeal is the fact it’s taking place so early in the season with playoff seeding in the AFC not yet on the line. The two most recent MVP winners in Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will be front and center on Monday Night Football. This game is a strong choice to feature the highest Over/Under of the entire 2020 NFL season.

Get your popcorn ready.

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Minnesota Vikings win in 2020?

Assessing the Minnesota Vikings’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Minnesota Vikings win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Minnesota Vikings’ 2019 season

The Vikings earned a second trip to the postseason in the last three years with a 10-6 regular-season record and a second-place finish in the NFC North. They then stunned the New Orleans Saints – and most of the football world – with a 26-20 overtime win at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in the wild-card round, before losing 27-10 on the road against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

The Vikes were 9-7 against the spread in the regular season, winning by an average margin of 6.5 points per game and covering by 2.8 PPG. They also went 9-7 against the Over/Under while topping the point projections by just 0.7 PPG.

Minnesota Vikings’ 2020 offseason changes

The Vikings have been one of the busier teams this offseason. WR Stefon Diggs was traded to the Buffalo Bills along with a seventh-round pick for the No. 22 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and three other picks. QB Kirk Cousins was re-signed to a two-year extension worth $66 million.

The defense took several hits with the releases of DT Linval Joseph and CB Xavier Rhodes, and the departures of CB Trae Waynes and DE Everson Griffen. WR Justin Jefferson was chosen in the first round of the draft to replace Diggs. CBs Jeff Gladney (first round) and Cameron Dantzler (third round) will help reinforce the secondary.

Baltimore Ravens’ 2020 win total: Best bets

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Sunday, May 3 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Projected wins: 8.5 / OVER: -159 / UNDER: +130

The Vikings have topped their 2020 projected win total in three of the past five seasons and they haven’t won fewer than eight games since a 7-9 campaign in 2014. The Over is thus a heavy favorite with low odds of -159 returning a profit of just $6.29 on a $10 bet.

The UNDER 8.5 (+130) is our advised wager. The Vikings are tied with the 10th-most difficult schedule in 2020, and that doesn’t account for the projected improvements of the Buccaneers and rival Bears and Lions. Minnesota went just 2-4 in divisional play last season. It’s difficult to envision them going better than 3-3 in the NFC North, leaving little room for error, particularly on the road, where they’ll face three playoff teams from 2019, in addition to the Packers.

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Los Angeles Rams win in 2020?

Assessing the Los Angeles Rams’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Los Angeles Rams win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Los Angeles Rams’ 2019 season

After making it all the way to the Super Bowl two seasons ago, the Rams regressed last year. They went 9-7 and missed the playoffs for the first time under head coach Sean McVay. The offense took a step back, and the defense was too inconsistent on a weekly basis.

The Rams performed better against the spread than they did straight up, going 10-5-1 ATS, but their 2019 campaign left a lot of fans disappointed.

Los Angeles Rams’ 2020 offseason changes

The Rams underwent a lot of changes this offseason. Wade Phillips was let go as their defensive coordinator, and McVay hired an offensive coordinator in Kevin O’Connell.

Most notably, though, the team cut RB Todd Gurley and OLB Clay Matthews, and traded WR Brandin Cooks to the Houston Texans. They lost OLB Dante Fowler Jr. and ILB Cory Littleton in free agency, but also signed DT A’Shawn Robinson and OLB Leonard Floyd.

In the draft, the Rams began to replace Gurley and Cooks by selecting RB Cam Akers and WR Van Jefferson with their first two picks.

Los Angeles Rams’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Thursday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 8.5 / OVER: +105 / UNDER: -125

With a line of -125 for the under, BetMGM doesn’t have much confidence in the Rams winning more than eight games next season. When looking at their roster and their opponents in 2020, it’s not that hard to find a minimum of nine wins for the Rams.

They benefit from facing the NFC East, which has the New York Giants and Washington Redskins in it. The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets figure to struggle next season, too, and the Chicago Bears don’t know who their quarterback will be.

The biggest hurdle for the Rams is having to play six games against the NFC West, which could again have three playoff teams in 2020. Even with a difficult divisional schedule, the Rams should finish better than 8-8.

Bet the OVER 8.5 (+105) for them to go at least 9-7 after revamping their roster.

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Los Angeles Chargers win in 2020?

Assessing the Los Angeles Chargers projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Los Angeles Chargers win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Los Angeles Chargers’ 2019 season

The Chargers struggled in 2019. They went 5-11, finishing last in the AFC West. They were 4-10-2 against the spread with a 7-9 Over/Under record.

Los Angeles Chargers’ 2020 offseason changes

Los Angeles moved on from three key offensive players. QB Philip Rivers left in free agency to sign with the Indianapolis Colts after 16 years with the Chargers. RB Melvin Gordon signed with the Denver Broncos and LT Russell Okung was dealt to the Carolina Panthers.

The Chargers signed RT Bryan Bulaga and acquired G Trai Turner from the Panthers. The also added DT Linval Joseph and CB Chris Harris Jr. Meanwhile, they drafted QB Justin Herbert (Oregon) and LB Kenneth Murray (Oklahoma) in the first round – Herbert was the sixth overall pick.

Los Angeles Chargers‘ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Thursday, May 7 at 2:45 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 7.5 / OVER: -164 / UNDER: +135

The Chargers improved defensively but losing Rivers, even though he appeared to play at a diminished level, will hurt. QB Tyrod Taylor will likely begin the season as the starter but Herbert was not drafted sixth overall to ride the bench. He will take over at some point and rookie quarterbacks rarely have winning seasons. They have what appear to be winnable games against the Bengals, Dolphins, Jaguars but they will have to play the Chiefs twice and NFC Super Bowl contenders Bucs and Saints. Have they improved enough to win at least three more games in 2020?

Taylor is an adequate quarterback but it will be the “Justin Herbert Show” soon. Don’t expect a winning season from the Chargers. Take the UNDER 7.5 (+135).

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Miami Dolphins win in 2020?

Assessing the Miami Dolphins’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Miami Dolphins win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Miami Dolphins’ 2019 season

The Dolphins looked like they were going to be the laughingstock of the NFL early in the 2019 season, stumbling out of the gate looking more like an arena football team rather than an NFL club.

The offense started to jell in the second half and they managed to finish with a 5-11 record, going 2-4 in the AFC East and 3-5 at home. They ended up going 9-7 against the spread and 9-7 against the Over/Under.

Miami Dolphins’ 2020 offseason changes

The big addition in free agency was CB Byron Jones, while LB Kyle Van Noy comes over from the division rival New England Patriots to also help bolster the defense. The Fins raided another division rival by adding EDGE Shaq Lawson, previously of the Buffalo Bills. RBs Jordan Howard and Matt Breida were added for a new-look backfield.

The Dolphins selected QB Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) with the No. 5 overall pick, and they also nabbed OL Austin Jackson (USC) and CB Noah Igbinoghene (Auburn) in the first. OL Robert Hunt (Louisiana) and DL Raekwon Davis (Alabama) were grabbed in the second, S Brandon Jones (Texas) was picked in the third, OL Solomon Kindley (Georgia) was added in the fourth.

Miami Dolphins’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Wednesday, May 6 at 8:40 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 6 / OVER: -110 / UNDER: -110

The Dolphins have a tough road to hoe, facing a majorly improved Bills team, the still dangerous Patriots and both combatants from last season’s Super Bowl.

Battles against the ultra-competitive NFC West teams will do the young Dolphins no favors, either. Miami should be a lot more competitive this season, but a difficult schedule likely means six wins is their ceiling. As such, betting UNDER 6 wins (-110) lightly is the way to go.

Las Vegas Raiders’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Wednesday, May 6 at 3 p.m. ET.

Projected wins: 7.5 / OVER:  -115 / UNDER: -105

Though we don’t know the official details of the 2020 regular-season schedule, the known opponents and location set up favorably for the Raiders’ first season in Las Vegas. Who knows how big of a home advantage Sin City will provide for the Raiders but they’ll benefit from not having to go to New Orleans to face the Saints and hosting the Bills instead of possibly playing in bad weather on the road. Also, the Raiders head to New England to play a Tom Brady-less Patriots team and get a de facto ninth home game when they play the Chargers in Los Angeles.

The Raiders have seen improvements as a team and in the quarterback position in head coach Jon Gruden’s first two seasons.  The offense should be more productive after drafting WR Henry Ruggs III and two other wide receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft. The defense will be more talented with the addition of two linebackers—Littleton and Kwiatkoski—both graded by Pro Football Focus as in the top 15 of their position. It’s concerning they did essentially nothing to address a pass-rushing unit ranked 25th in sacks and 27th in QB pressure rate in 2019.

Nonetheless, I think Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock have the Raiders headed in the right direction; BET OVER 7.5 wins (-115).
