NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the New York Giants win in 2020?

Assessing the New York Giants’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the New York Giants win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

New York Giants’ 2019 season

It was another disappointing season for the Giants in 2019 as they finished the year 4-12. It was their third straight season with fewer than six wins and a bottom-two finish in the NFC East. After the poor season, the Giants fired the entire coaching staff, including head coach Pat Shurmur.

New York Giants’ 2020 offseason changes

The biggest change for the 2020 New York Giants is new head coach Joe Judge. After coaching the wide receivers and special teams for the New England Patriots, Judge was brought over to be a culture changer for the Giants. One of his first moves was bringing in an experienced offensive mind in Jason Garrett, formerly head coach of the rival Dallas Cowboys. Garrett will run the offense and Patrick Graham will run the defense.

As for personnel changes, the Giants upgraded their offensive line, using the No. 4 pick on Georgia OT Andrew Thomas. They also signed veteran swing OT Cameron Fleming as a potential starter on the right side.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Giants signed former Packers LB Blake Martinez, but their biggest defensive signing was former Carolina Panthers CB James Bradberry. Bradberry started 60 games for the Panthers since being drafted in 2016 and he has emerged as one of the top defensive backs in all of football. He should be a major upgrade over what the team had at the position last season.

New York Giants’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Friday, May 8 at 11 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 6.5  / OVER: +110 / UNDER: -130

The Giants will face the AFC North and the NFC West this season, two of the tougher divisions in the NFL. They are also the third-best team in the NFC East (at best) and that could spell trouble for the Giants.

While it’s fair to think they will be better than they were last season, expecting them to win seven or more games given their schedule seems like a stretch. If QB Daniel Jones can make a leap in Year 2, then they should be able to compete against better teams, but bet the UNDER 6.5 (-130) as the safest play.
