Full seven-round Eagles mock draft: Post NFL scouting-combine edition

With the #NFLCombine in the rearview mirror, here are our updated full seven-round #Eagles mock draft 3.0 #NFLDraft2022

The NFL scouting combine is a wrap and now all 32 teams will turn their attention towards free agency and roster building.

The Eagles are one week away from the start of an intriguing offseason that starts with free agency,  features three-first round picks, valuable salary-cap space, and several different routes the franchise can choose to follow.

If Jalen Hurts is the quarterback for at least the next calendar year, then Philadelphia will choose to build around the quarterback, and they still could push a first-round pick back to 2023 where the quarterback class will be much more talented.

With Russell Wilson now a member of the Broncos, it’ll be either trade for Deshaun Watson or Hurts as the guy.

It’ll be an interesting lead-up to April’s NFL draft and we’re adding to the fun with our third full seven-round mock draft 3.0, this time, post-scouting-combine.

In this seven-round mock draft using Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator, we again avoided making any trades in this version, choosing to fully restock a roster that has holes on both sides of the ball, utilizing seven of the 10 picks on high-profile and highly versatile defensive players.

NFL draft history: Every No. 15 overall pick selected since 2000

#NFLDraft history: Looking at every No. 15 overall pick selected since the 2000 #NFLDraft and the #Eagles chances of landing an impact player

The Eagles need impact players on both sides of the ball and with three first-round picks in April’s draft, Howie Roseman will have his best opportunity ever to add game-changing players to the roster.

After missing on picks like Jalen Reagor and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, Roseman is under pressure to not waste assets or opportunities while attempting to be the smartest man in the room.

Philadelphia currently has the 15th, 16th, and 19th overall picks and we’ll take a look at some of the impact players and draft bust that were selected with the 15th pick.

The NFL Combine was a huge success for several big named defensive players who are currently shaking up draft boards around the league.

Philadelphia has a ton of needs on the defensive side of the ball and the 2022 NFL draft is loaded with versatile and explosive playmakers on all three levels.

Whether it be pass rusher, defensive tackle, linebacker, cornerback, or safety, the Eagles will have their pick of the best with three first-round selections.

The post-combine mock drafts are out and many insiders expect Philadelphia to load up on defensive talent while adding a wide receiver.

NFL Draft rumors: Could an elite talent like LSU CB Derek Stingley Jr. slide to the Eagles?

Could injuries and inconsistent play over the past 2 seasons cause #LSU star CB Derek #Stingley to slide in the #NFLDraft right into the lap of the #Philadelphia #Eagles?

The hype around LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. was so intense as a freshman, that the star defensive back was expected to be a sure-fire top pick when he decided to enter the NFL draft.

Because players can’t turn pro until they’ve been out of high school for three years, Stingley has been patiently waiting his turn and during the process, the hype and consistency of his play diminished tremendously.

According to ESPN draft insider, Matt Miller, Stingley Jr.’s inconsistent play and injury history could cause a slide in the draft, where a team like Philadelphia could move up a few picks to nab their cornerback of the future.

A non-participant in last week’s NFL combine, Stingley Jr. still professes to be the top cornerback available when he’s healthy.

Stingley Jr. continues to rehab from the Lisfranc surgery he underwent on his left foot but he plans to be a full participant in LSU’s pro day on April 6.

The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine will again take place in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium from March 1 to March 7.

The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine allows prospects to participate in on-field drills in front of NFL evaluators. Additionally, prospects have the opportunity to interview with NFL teams.

NFL coaches and general managers will also speak throughout the week, and according to Zach Berman, Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni will address the media on Wednesday, March 2, at 1:15, and 1:30 P.M.

With three first-round picks in April’s selection process and Roseman entering the final year of his contract, this week’s evaluation process will start an almost 60-day process of assessing prospects and landing three dynamic playmakers.

5 potential trade destinations for Eagles’ QB Gardner Minshew

5 potential trade destinations for #Philadelphia #Eagles QB Gardner #Minshew if a deal can be made that makes sense for Howie #Roseman

When Gardner Minshew popped into Nick Sirianni’s office after the Eagles 33-18 win over the New York Jets in Week 13, he made it clear that he wants to be a starter, and the backup quarterback was transparent in voicing his goals.

Minshew completed 80 percent of his passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns and almost was traded to the Panthers before Howie Roseman decided against the move.

The former Washington State star has one year left on his rookie contract, counting $965,000 against the salary cap in 2022, and he’s among the most valuable backup quarterbacks in the entire NFL.

If Philadelphia is open to moving Minshew for the right compensation, we’ve provided 5 potential destinations that would be a solid fit.

The Eagles returned to the postseason in 2021 thanks to the improvement of several key players on both sides of the ball. The path to success in the NFL stems from an organization’s ability to hit and develop homegrown talent.

Philadelphia had several players make huge jumps in 2021, but none bigger than Avonte Maddox according to Pro Football Focus.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: CB AVONTE MADDOX
PFF Grade change from 2020 to 2021: 37.8 → 71.0 (+33.2)

Maddox was moved exclusively to outside corner for 2020, and it went poorly, as evidenced by his 37.8 PFF grade. In 2021, Maddox moved to the slot where he belongs and saw a drastic improvement. He actually finished the year as a top-five-graded defensive back in the slot. Maddox’s tackling was on point, with just five misses on 77 attempts and 24 defensive stops.

Maddox was among the highest graded cornerbacks in the NFL for the bulk of the season and year-by-year improvement resulted in a team-friendly, market-value contract extension that benefited both sides.

With Maddox firmly entrenched as the slot cornerback, Philadelphia can focus on adding a talented cornerback to pair with Darius Slay.
