Chargers add weapon for Justin Herbert in Daniel Jeremiah’s second mock draft

The Chargers go wide receiver in Daniel Jeremiah’s 2023 NFL mock draft 2.0.

In NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft, the Chargers took Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.

In his second one, Los Angeles addresses the same side of the ball by getting Justin Herbert another weapon in TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston.

Speed on the outside has been a missing element for the Chargers. Johnston fills that need.

Johnston has excellent speed to win vertically and break away from defenders in the open field. His athleticism and agility allow him to gain separation on various routes. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Johnston uses his great size as a massive catch radius and to outmuscle cornerbacks.

Emerging as one of the top receivers in college football, Johnston finished with 60 receptions for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns for the Horned Frogs this season en route to earning First-Team All Big-12.

Some see Johnston as this year’s No. 1 wide receiver in this draft class, so landing the explosive playmaker with rare physical traits would be excellent value with the No. 21 overall selection. He would be a welcome addition to a wideout room that desperately needs speed.

2022 NFL mock draft roundup: Eagles land dynamic SEC talent, trade up for QB

2022 #NFL mock draft roundup: #Eagles land dynamic #SEC talent in #DanielJeremiah’s latest, trade up for a raw #Liberty quarterback in #NBCSportsPhiladelphia latest mock

As the NFL transitions away from the postseason all-star games and moves forward towards the start of free agency, all eyes are on the Eagles and their three first-round picks in April’s draft.

Some of the league’s top draft prognosticators are ramping up the scouting and there will likely be several changes atop various draft boards as the combine and select pro days near.

With one week left in the month of February, here’s our final mock draft roundup, with a few heavy hitters predicting that Philadelphia leans heavy towards Georgia, a linebacker and potential addition to the quarterback room.

Chargers add another weapon for Justin Herbert in Daniel Jeremiah’s second mock draft

The Chargers get a big-play threat in Daniel Jeremiah’s 2022 NFL mock draft 2.0.

In NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft, the Chargers took Northern Iowa offensive tackle Trevor Penning.

In his second one, Los Angeles addresses the same side of the ball but goes in a different direction by getting Justin Herbert another weapon in Ohio State’s Chris Olave, the San Diego native.

The Chargers have a solid WR corps (they need to re-sign pending free agent Mike Williams) but they lack a big-time deep threat. Olave would be a perfect fit.

This offseason, the defensive line, right tackle and cornerback position are arguably the most pressing needs for L.A. Still, the team could be aggressive in free agency to fulfill them, giving them flexibility in the first round.

Mike Williams’ future with the Chargers is currently up in the air, as he waits to see if he will be franchise tagged, re-signed to a long-term contract, or let go of to test the market.

Regardless, even if Williams is brought back, the wide receiver room is still lacking a true field-stretcher, something that Olave would bring to the table.

In his senior season in 2021, Olave enjoyed his most productive campaign, finishing with 65 catches, 936 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

Olave shows the good route running and savvy to consistently separate and make himself an open target and the top-end speed to win vertically, with ball skills to reel in everything thrown his way.

2022 NFL mock draft roundup: Eagles land big-bodied WR in Daniel Jeremiah’s projections

#NFLDraft2022 mock draft roundups: #Philadelphia #Eagles land big-bodied WR in #DanielJeremiah’s initial projections

It’s NFL draft season and with Philadelphia having a limited number of dollars to spend in free agency, the frenzy for April’s selection process has become even more urgent.

With three first-round picks, the Eagles can control the top half of the draft on night one and if Howie Roseman chooses to use all three picks, Philadelphia could really reload on both sides of the ball.

NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah just released his first installment, and his selections for Philadelphia could leave a lot to be desired.

Chargers fix right tackle issue in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft

The Chargers get their right tackle of the future in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft.

The Chargers invested in the offensive line last offseason. While that paid off, they have a question mark over the right tackle position, given the uncertainty of Bryan Bulaga’s future with the team.

That is why Los Angeles could look to address the position early on in the draft if none of the free agents on the market appeal to them.

In NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft, he sees the Bolts solidifying the spot with Central Michigan OT Bernhard Raimann.

I’m higher on Raimann than most evaluators, but I believe in his play strength (his hands and core strength jump off the screen) and instincts. He starts Day 1 at right tackle and would team with 2021 first-rounder Rashawn Slater to give the Chargers excellent bookends to protect Justin Herbert.

Raimann, the Austrian-born tackle, played wide receiver in high school and enrolled at Central Michigan as a tight end. He moved to left tackle before his junior season because Central Michigan didn’t have one. He flourished in that role, allowing ten pressures this past season.

While age might be a concern because he will be 25 years old in his rookie season, Raimann is an athletic and balanced big man with strong hands, and mental and physical toughness that has been profoundly tested to come in and contribute right away.

Eagles land a versatile offensive weapon in Daniel Jeremiah’s 2021 NFL mock draft 2.0

Eagles land a versatile tight end Kyle Pitts in Daniel Jeremiah’s 2021 NFL mock draft 2.0

The Eagles could have a need at tight end and wide receiver with Zach Ertz’s future uncertain and one SEC star could fill both voids.

Daniel Jeremiah just unveiled his second mock draft of the offseason and he had the Eagles going with an interesting selection at No. 6 overall.

Rather than snagging DeVonta Smith, Patrick Surtain, or Micah Parsons’, the Eagles go for Florida Gators All American tight end Kyle Pitts with the pick.

Philadelphia Eagles
Kyle Pitts · TE
School: Florida | Year: Junior

I don’t envision Zach Ertz being on the Eagles’ roster for the 2021 season. However, Philadelphia still ensures its QB1 — whomever that ends up being — has an outstanding duo at tight end in Pitts and Dallas Goedert.

The Philadelphia native is a rare prospect built in the mode of the Raiders Darren Waller.

Pitts can create his own separation, has terrific ball skills, and can win matchups against defensive backs.

An Associated Press First Team All-American, Pitts is the first Florida Gator to be named a first-team All-American since Vernon Hargreaves earned the honor in 2015.

A finalist for both the Mackey and Biletnikoff Awards, Pitts finished the 2020 season with 43 catches for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns, despite playing in only eight games.

Pitt’s 12 touchdown catches are the second-most by a tight end in SEC history.
