Patriots WR already eyeing DeVante Parker’s former jersey number

Is Jalen Reagor eyeing a new jersey number?

Jersey number changes could be underway at the wide receiver position, as New England Patriots wideout Jalen Reagor might be eyeing DeVante Parker’s old No. 1 jersey number.

Reagor joined the organization last season and recorded seven catches for 138 yards. He also returned a kick for a 98-yard touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

New England re-signed Reagor on March 14, as they continue to remake the wide receiver room. The receiver was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, and he also played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2022.

Reagor posted a picture on Instagram of himself wearing a No. 1 Patriots jersey, which is the same number he wore during his run at TCU in college.

We will have to wait and see what number Reagor ultimately ends up wearing. But the opportunity is clearly there for a switch-up for the veteran gadget player, who is hoping to have an even bigger impact on the team in 2024.

Report: Patriots plan to re-sign explosive WR and returner Jalen Reagor

The Patriots have a need for speed, so they’re reportedly keeping WR/returner Jalen Reagor

The New England Patriots didn’t have much speed on their offense in 2023, but they did have Jalen Reagor, the former first-round draft pick that turned into a gadget playmaker.

Per Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the former TCU standout is expected to return to New England on a one-year deal.

Reagor has struggled to find a home at the next level after two different stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles. However, things quietly started to click for him with the Patriots down the stretch last season.

He worked into the offense and even caught passes at wide receiver. The team also utilized him on a running play.

But his greatest impact came on special teams, where he showed he can be a real difference-maker as a returner.

Reagor gives the Patriots some firepower on special teams, while also serving as a creative chess piece for offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt to utilize on offense.

If the Patriots call up the right plays to get him more involved, things could get dangerous for opposing defenses.

Studs and duds in Patriots’ New Year’s Eve loss to Bills

Who were the studs and duds in the Patriots’ 27-21 loss to the Bills.

The New England Patriots’ short-lived excitement from their Christmas Eve upset win over the Denver Broncos came crashing to a halt at Orchard Park on Sunday.

Despite a valiant effort, the Patriots failed to overcome a run-in with the AFC East division rival Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.

There were far too many self-inflicted wounds for them to really have a chance on the road against a potential playoff contender. The Patriots turned the ball over four times in total, and the Bills dominated in time of possession.

It’s still amazing that the Patriots were able to keep things competitive, despite all of their mistakes. They dropped a 27-21 loss on the road against one of the hottest teams in football. There’s no shame in losing like that to the Bills.

Here are the studs and duds from the game:

WATCH: Jalen Reagor turns on jets for kickoff return touchdown on first play of game

Jalen Reagor can flat out fly!

The New England Patriots did not even have to touch the ball offensively to score their first touchdown of Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Jalen Reagor took a kickoff return 98 yards for a touchdown on the very first play of the game.

The kickoff return was Reagor’s first touchdown as a member of the Patriots. He was able to fly past Buffalo defenders and give New England momentum early on in the game.

It was quite the start for New England, as the defense was able to hold Buffalo to a field goal on the subsequent possession. New England is looking for their second win in a row against Buffalo, and the strong start should certainly aid in that goal.

It will be interesting to see how large this touchdown looms in the course of what could be a great defensive battle.

Studs and duds in Patriots’ pitiful 20-17 loss to Commanders

Who were the studs and duds in the Patriots’ pitiful 20-17 loss to the Commanders?

Not even a Week 9 matchup with the struggling Washington Commanders could save the New England Patriots from falling to 2-7 on the season.

It’s shocking to think this is the same Patriots team that somehow knocked off the Buffalo Bills in Week 7. The team that beat the Bills must have somehow caught lightning in a bottle because the version that showed up on Sunday looked terrible on all levels.

Offense, defense and special teams—it was all bad for the Patriots.

They had an opportunity to save the game late, but a pass from quarterback Mac Jones bobbled off of JuJu Smith-Schuster’s hands and turned into an interception for the Commanders to close out the game.

It was a completely fitting ending for this version of the Patriots. Here are the studs and duds from the game for New England after their 20-17 loss to the Commanders:

Updated Vikings draft picks after trade deadline

The Vikings are primed to go into the offseason with 9 2024 NFL draft picks

The Minnesota Vikings made some noise at the trade deadline on Tuesday.

They acquired quarterback Josh Dobbs and a conditional seventh-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals for a sixth-round pick.

The Vikings weren’t done either as they sent left guard Ezra Cleveland to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a sixth-round pick.

What they chose not to do was make a big splash. They ended up keeping Danielle Hunter and not trading for a big name player like Chase Young, Montez Sweat or Jaylon Johnson.

The Vikings are in a weird position where they want to both try to win now but are staying realistic and gathering capital for next season.

With the draft pick movement, the Vikings currently have 10 picks in their possession, but one of them will be sent to the Philadelphia Eagles to complete the Jalen Reagor trade. Here is the up-to-date 2024 draft picks for the Vikings.

Patriots QB Mac Jones impressed with skill set of Jalen Reagor

Jalen Reagor got a vote of confidence from Patriots QB Mac Jones.

New England Patriots cornerback Mac Jones has been impressed with wide receiver Jalen Reagor.

Reagor was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad on August 31. He spent the first two seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, before playing with the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. He was released by the Vikings on August 30.

It’s been a roller-coaster career for the former TCU star to this point. He is perhaps best known for being the wide receiver selected before Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL draft. On Thursday, he was signed to the Patriots’ main roster.

Jones is clearly impressed with what the wide receiver brings to the table, as reported by NESN.com’s Zack Cox.

Reagor could be a benefit to New England’s wide receiver room, as he looks to unlock the skill set that made him such a highly-regarded receiver out of college.

New England’s struggling offense needs as many playmakers as possible at the position.

Patriots signing former first-round WR to 53-man roster

The Patriots have a need for speed at wide receiver, and they should get plenty of it with this recent signing.

The recent move involving New England Patriots backup quarterback Malik Cunningham is beginning to make sense with the team signing wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the main roster, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Cunningham, who has been working as both a quarterback and wide receiver, was waived on Tuesday, before clearing waivers and returning to the practice squad on Wednesday. That move opened a roster spot for the team to sign Reagor to a deal.

The former first-round draft pick hauled in one pass from quarterback Mac Jones for 11 yards in the Patriots’ 29-25 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 7.

“Jalen’s come in and been a really good scout-team player for us,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said earlier in the week, via NESN’s Zack Cox. “We’ve played against a lot of top receivers, and he’s gotten a lot of good opportunities with some of the routes that those guys run to kind of be featured a little bit on some of the scout-team plays.

“He’s earned some playing time, which has come from his practice time and practice performance. He’s picking up the offense, and we’ll see how it goes, but he’s a good talent, good guy to work with. Glad we have him.”

The Patriots appear to be shifting their focus to speed at the receiver position with players like Kendrick Bourne and Demario “Pop” Douglas getting more looks now than DeVante Parker and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Reagor hasn’t lived up to his draft grade, but he would definitely fit the mold from a speed perspective. He’s still only 24 years old, and this could be the turnaround opportunity he’s been waiting for in his NFL career.

10 highest-graded players for Patriots offense vs Bills, per PFF

Some unexpected names topped the list of offensive standouts for the Patriots in their Week 7 win over the Bills

The New England Patriots offense came off of life support on Sunday and helped hand the Buffalo Bills a shocking 29-25 loss.

This wasn’t a game where the unit needed to be bailed out by the defense, either. With less than two minutes to go in the game, quarterback Mac Jones led the offense on an eight-play, 75-yard game-winning drive to put Josh Allen and the Bills away.

There was plenty to like from the performance, including the emergence of rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas, who routinely made plays as a runner, receiver and return man.

Kendrick Bourne continued to serve as a reliable receiving target for Jones, and running back Rhamondre Stevenson finally got going. But most importantly, the offensive line finally showed some fight after collapsing like a paper house in a thunderstorm in their previous three games.

Here are the top-10 highest-graded offensive players for the Patriots in Week 7, per Pro Football Focus.
