Nick Sirianni and Andy Reid share the history of both being named Eagles head coaches at the ripe age of 40.

Sunday’s meeting won’t be the first time the two head coaches have met face to face, with Sirianni sharing the story of Reid firing the baby-faced assistant who was then the Kansas City wide receivers coach.

Reid at that time had new Texans head coach David Culley in mind for the position and took time to personally part ways with Sirianni. That move left a lasting impression on the Eagles’ current head coach.

“As far as – yeah, I just know what type of coach he is, a really good coach. And I always say guys that I think are really good coaches are, you know that his team plays with fundamentals and puts them in good positions to win. He’s a good scheme coach.”

Sirianni is definitely a work in progress, but his ability to learn from each individual experience should pay off during his time in Philadelphia.

Eagles DT Javon Hargrave on a historic pace through the first 3 games of the 2021 season

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave on a historic pace to start the 2021 season

Javon Hargrave has found his groove through three weeks of his second season with the Eagles, and as the Birds start preparation to face the Chiefs, the game-wrecking defensive tackle is on a historic pace.

According to Eagles public relations guru, John Gonoude, Hargrave is the first NFL defensive tackle since Warren Sapp in 1999, to log 15+ tackles and 4.0+ sacks in the first 3 games of the season.

That season, Sapp logged 4 passes defended, 4 forced fumbles, 12.5 sacks, 41 total tackles, and 13 tackles for loss on the way to being named All-Pro and Defensive Player of the Year.

We’ve previously predicted that Hargrave would smash the 23 tackles for loss that T.J. Watt recorded in 2020 to lead the league, and through three games, Hargrave is on pace for 27.5 tackles for loss, and almost 21 sacks.

Deshaun Watson trade rumors: NFL Insider Jay Glazer on whether the Eagles are in the mix to acquire Texans star QB

NFL Insider Jay Glazer on whether the Philadelphia Eagles are in the mix to acquire Texans star QB DeShaun Watson

The Eagles and Deshaun Watson were in the news again on Thursday, when Chris Simms appeared on Pro Football Talk and said this about potential trade interest.

From everything I know, the owner has given them the green light as far as Howie Roseman and company to make that deal if it’s right. So, yes, you have to worry a little — and here’s just one other inkling. Another inkling told me they’re not sold on Jalen Hurts.

Simms isn’t your typical league insider and could be working on the narrative that the Eagles do their due diligence on every big-time passer that’s available. It’s no secret that owner Jeffrey Lurie would prefer to push the ball downfield and the Eagles have been linked to Watson and other quarterbacks for months now.

On Thursday night, Fox Sports NFL Insider, Jay Glazer tweeted out that Philadelphia is not currently in the mix to acquire Watson, but we all know things could change.

Watson would have to waive his no-trade clause for any agreement to take place and it’s been previously reported that Miami is a preferred destination.

Andre Dillard will start at LT for the Eagles in place of Jordan Mailata vs. Dallas

Andre Dillard will start at left tackle for the Eagles in place of Jordan Mailata vs. Dallas Cowboys

The demise of Andre Dillard has been greatly exaggerated and with Jordan Mailata dealing with a knee injury, the former first-round pick will start at left tackle in his place.

Mailata was injured in Thursday’s practice at the NovaCare Complex when a player rolled up on his leg.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni said he didn’t anticipate that Mailata would be out for an extended period of time, and added that he has confidence that Dillard, who took the first-team reps in practice on Friday and Saturday.

“I’ve seen him have confidence. I’ve seen him be able to shut the pass rush down in our practices. We gave him a couple of different looks of different scout-team players to go against and I feel really confident in Andre and he should feel confident in himself,” Sirianni said. “Since I’ve gotten here – I can’t say what happened in the past here – since I’ve gotten here I’ve had complete confidence in him. I know he had that injury (knee) that set him back a little bit in Training Camp, but I’ve had complete confidence in him ever since I got here. Then he got that that Jets game (preseason finale) and the Jets practices and the New England practices and I just think he’s looked really good.

The head coach also added that the changes upfront won’t impact the game plan.

Jordan Mailata dealing with knee sprain as Monday night matchup vs. Cowboys looms

The Eagles and Cowboys won’t kick off until Monday evening and that’s good news for a Philadelphia training staff that’ll need to get Jordan Mailata healthy.

The Eagles star left tackle suffered a knee sprain during Thursday’s practice and Andre Dillard will take first-team reps in his absence.

Mailata signed a new deal recently and is one of the NFL’s highest-graded left tackles through three weeks of action.
