Steelers, Bills have 8 former Dolphins wild-card matchup

Former Dolphins who will play in Steelers-Bills wild-card game.

The Miami Dolphins have been eliminated from the postseason following their 27-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday night.

So, while Dolphins fans prepare for the offseason, there are a number of former Dolphins who are still playing for a Super Bowl championship that they can support.

On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills are set to battle in a wild-card matchup of their own, and there are eight former Dolphins on their rosters and practice squads.

Here’s a look at which players who once donned the aqua and orange will play in this one:

Dolphins release UDFA OT Kellen Diesch

Miami continues to trim offensive line depth.

As the Miami Dolphins continue to make their way through roster cuts before the deadline, it’s been reported that they’ve moved on from another offensive lineman.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins are releasing offensive tackle Kellen Diesch. Diesch was signed as an undrafted free agent following this year’s draft out of Arizona State.

With Austin Jackson and Terron Armstead cemented in their roles at the tackle spots, there was a chance that the rookie could make the third spot. Unfortunately, it appears that he’s been beaten out by some of the other options.

There would be a chance that he returns for a practice squad job.

Be sure to keep up with all of Miami’s roster moves via the cutdown tracker.

2022 Dolphins positional preview: The offensive line is improved, but there are still questions

There are still two questionable spots.

The 2021 edition of the Miami Dolphins got one of the worst offensive line performances among all of the teams in the NFL.

Between inexperienced coaches and poor effort, the line wasn’t able to protect quarterback Tua Tagovailoa or get any push for the team’s running game. As a result, the offense struggled to string drives together, keeping them from a postseason birth for the fifth straight season.

With the Dolphins ready to hit the field for training camp near the end of the month, it’s as good of a time as any to assess the roster. We’ve touched on quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends, so, today, we’re focusing on the big men up front.

2022 Carolina Panthers mock draft 6.0: Scott Fitterer edition

In our latest mock draft for the Panthers, we activate Scott Fitterer Mode and see how much a trade-down from the No. 6 pick can get us.

Suppose the draft’s top targets for the Carolina Panthers are picked clean before they even hit the clock. No Evan Neal, no Ikem Ekwonu, no Charles Cross and no Malik Willis.

What then? Well, it might be time to get crazy and activate Scott Fitterer Mode.

Here, while using the Pro Football Focus Mock Draft Simulator, is what a trade-down from the sixth overall pick could bring the Panthers in a week’s time.

Ravens trade down for value in latest 7-round mock draft

The Ravens traded down for value in our latest seven-round mock draft

The Baltimore Ravens will have plenty of opportunities to add talent to their roster over 2022 NFL draft weekend. They have a plethora of picks across all three days of the festivities, and can use each of them in multiple different ways.

One possible outcome for Baltimore on the first night of the draft is to trade out of the No. 14 overall selection to get more picks and more value. There are multiple teams with two first-round selections this year, so there’s potential that the team could look to trade their one mid-first rounder for two late-first rounders, or a similar package.

Below we look at a full Ravens seven-round mock draft where Baltimore trades down in the first round to pick up more selections.

Rams 2022 Draft Prospect Profile: Kellen Diesch (T, Arizona State)

Kellen Diesch would make a quality swing tackle in the NFL and could be a target of the Rams on Day 3.

The starting offensive tackles are already set in stone for the Los Angeles Rams for the 2022 season. Joseph Noteboom will replace newly-retired Andrew Whitworth at left tackle while Rob Havenstein will continue to hold down the fort at right tackle.

With Noteboom joining the starting offense, Los Angeles could use someone to operate as a swing tackle for them next season. Seeing that the Rams don’t have anyone that’s shown the capability of handling that role, they could address offensive tackle in the 2022 NFL draft.

We’ve already taken a look at a few offensive tackles that Los Angeles could target in the draft (check them out below).

The next offensive tackle that we’ll be taking a look at is Kellen Diesch out of Arizona State.

2022 NFL draft: The top 11 offensive tackles

Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar breaks down the 11 best offensive tackle in the 2022 NFL draft class.

If you want to know the hit rate for the top offensive tackles in any draft class, consider this. Since 2010, there have been 44 players taken in the first round who were designated as offensive tackles in their draft classes. Just eight have at least one First-Team All-Pro selection. Only 14 have been selected to at least one Pro Bowl. Three (Isaiah Wilson, Tennessee Titans, 2020/Andre Dillard, Philadelphia Eagles, 2019/Derek Sherrod, Green Bay Packers, 2011) have not been primary starters in the NFL.

For every Trent Williams, Tyron Smith, and Ronnie Stanley — the guys who immediately and consistently define their offenses with their excellence — there’s a Jake Matthews, Nate Solder, or Luke Joeckel (players who have great moments, but tread water more than anything else), and there’s certainly at least one Ereck Flowers, Ja’Wuan James, or Andrew Thomas (the players who wind up making you wonder what everybody in the room was thinking).

This is not to specifically malign the players who do not succeed at the NFL level, despite having what some shot-caller in some front office determined to be first-round talent. It’s more to say that being a great left or right tackle in the pros is really, really hard to do. Different offensive systems require different things from their tackles, but for the most part, you’d better have aggressive hands, excellent, light feet, the mentality to dominate, the agility to take on the NFL’s best speed-rushers, and the intelligence and reaction ability to deal with blitzes and stunts.

Those are the basics. From there, the hope is that you’ll continue to excel despite any physical limitations. Maybe your wingspan isn’t what the NFL wants it to be. Maybe your upper-body strength isn’t exactly an advertisement for your college weightroom. Perhaps your college coaches didn’t teach you this or that technique that would help you in the NFL, and you have to hope that your NFL coaches will see these things and make them better.

Sometimes, you’re able to transcend these things. More often, you’re not.

This year’s offensive tackles appear to be part of a class that is top-heavy and deep. But there’s no guarantee that any of them will become true dominators at the NFL level, no matter how much they may have owned the defenders they faced in college.

Here are the top 11 offensive tackles in the 2022 NFL draft, the attributes that best indicate their transitions to the NFL, and the things that might get in the way.

Colts’ pre-free agency 7-round mock draft

Before free agency starts, here’s a 7-round mock draft for the Colts.

Monday marks the start of the legal tampering period, which means the Indianapolis Colts will unofficially begin negotiating with players set to become free agents when the new league year begins on Wednesday.

What better time to do a mock draft than just before everything will change in a few days?

The Colts lead the NFL in salary-cap space but that won’t change their plans of building through the draft. It’s a core concept that general manager Chris Ballard believes is the key to sustained success even if the Colts have struggled to stay consistent in recent seasons.

How free agency goes will undoubtedly determine how the draft goes. We still have no idea who the quarterback will be and that may change the entire landscape of the draft for the Colts. Fortunately, the Colts added a few more picks after trading away Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders.

But we’ll still do our best with what we know entering Monday’s offseason mile marker.

As the Colts enter free agency, here’s a seven-round mock draft using Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator:
