Nebraska’s Juwan Gary discusses decision to return for another season

A Nebraska basketball player recently discussed his decision to return to Lincoln for another season.

A Nebraska basketball player recently discussed his decision to return to Lincoln for another season. Senior Juwan Gary made the announcement to return for the senior season.

Gary played in 28 games, including 20 starts, during the 2023-24 season. He averaged 11.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

The forward said that he returned to Nebraska for another season because of the people connected to the program.

I feel like we’ve got the best coach in the Big Ten and one of the top coaches in the country. We’ve got the best coaching staff, fan base, and all-around community. I wanted to finish my college career here. The reason I chose Nebraska is because people actually care about my career. More than my career, people want to see me become a successful person.

Before coming to Nebraska, Gary played for Nate Oats for three seasons at the University of Alabama. Coming out of high school, he was ranked as the No. 64 overall recruit in the class of 2019.

The Cornhuskers are coming off of a 23-11 record for the 2023-24 season and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. They will start the 2024-25 season on October 27 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in an exhibition game against Grand Valley State.

Rutgers men’s basketball unable to recover from slow start in loss to Nebraska

Rutgers men’s basketball lost on Sunday at Nebraska.

A slow start doomed Rutgers in a 67-56 loss at Nebraska on Sunday evening.

With the loss, Rutgers basketball is now  15-14 (7-11 Big Ten). Their path to return to the NCAA Tournament is now increasingly narrow.

In the first half, Nebraska outscored Rutgers 37-25. They were led by Keisei Tominaga, who scored 18 points and added two offensive rebounds to his resume. He got some help from Juwan Gary, who scored 15 points. As Rutgers had no answer for the talented duo, Nebraska scored 22 points in the paint.

While Rutgers made things close in the second half, their early deficit proved too much to overcome. However, there were a few bright spots in Jeremiah Williams and Gavin Griffiths. Williams led the team in scoring with 14 points. Griffiths had his best game in weeks, adding 10 points to his resume.

Although Nebraska had success in the paint, that was not the only way they built a lead. The Cornhuskers also made the most of their opportunities from three-point range, shooting 33.3 percent.

With only two games left in the season, Rutgers will shift its focus to Wisconsin. They are set to take on the Badgers on March 7. That matchup will be a good test for a Rutgers team that has struggled on the road. They are 3-8 away from Jersey Mike’s Arena.

How have Alabama basketball transfers performed at their new schools during 2023-2024 season?

The Alabama men’s basketball team has seen several of its players transfer from the program. Roll Tide Wire takes a closer look at how each of the transfers are performing at their respective schools.

The Alabama men’s basketball program has seen its share of players enter and exit via the transfer portal. Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats has had to fill some holes on the roster in recent years. More specifically, he was tasked with finding replacements for some of the top players on the roster the past two seasons.

Last offseason, the Crimson Tide lost all but two scholarship players. Meaning that the players on the roster either declared for the NBA draft or transferred elsewhere.

Today, Roll Tide Wire takes a look at how some of the Alabama transfers have performed at their new schools during the 2023-2024 season.

Alabama MBB forward Juwan Gary tweets goodbye message to Tuscaloosa

Juwan Gary took to Twitter to post a farewell message to his Alabama coaches, fans and supporters

Alabama men’s basketball is due for some big shakeups with the roster. There have already been a couple of big announcements, and recently rising redshirt junior forward Juwan Gary entered his name into the transfer portal and became the Crimson Tide’s fourth name with transfer intentions. The others are Jusaun Holt, Keon Ambrose-Hylton and Alex Tchikou.

The transfer was first reported on Wednesday by On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Gary started 16 games over 29 appearances for Alabama last season. The 6-6, 218-pound forward averaged 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds over 15.5 minutes per game and shot 51.4% from the floor and 22.0% from behind the three-point line.

Gary just completed his third season with Alabama, but sat out the entire 2019-20 season with a torn ACL as a freshman before averaging 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds over 9.4 minutes per game in 2020-21.

The Columbia, S.C., native came to Alabama rated as the No. 93 overall player and No. 23 small forward in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Gary took to Twitter to post a farewell message to his Alabama coaches, fans and supporters.

While the roster turnover appears bleak, do remember that the Tide will bring in a solid recruiting class for 2022 and could still bring in three or four more transfers, depending on JD Davison’s decision.

Alabama forward Juwan Gary has entered the NCAA transfer portal

Another Alabama men’s basketball player has hit the NCAA transfer portal.

Alabama redshirt sophomore forward Juwan Gary has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to Matt Zenitz of On3. Gary is the fourth member of the Crimson Tide to enter the portal this offseason. Gary will be joining former teammates Jusaun Holt, Jaden Quinerly, Keon Ambrose-Hylton, and Alex Tchikou in the portal.

Gary came to Tuscaloosa as a four-star prospect and a top 100 player hailing from the state of South Carolina. Gary missed his entire freshman season with an ACL injury and would go on to mostly come off the bench for the Tide over his next two seasons in Tuscaloosa. Gary averaged 6.5 points per game this past season with the Tide.

Head coach Nate Oats has had quite the roster turnover this offseason as he looks to build his own brand of basketball at the Capstone.

Ranking the Alabama Men’s Basketball Roster

Ranking Alabama’s basketball roster

With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Alabama Crimson Tide currently sits fifth in the SEC with a 6-6 conference record and a 16-9 record overall.

Although Alabama is solidly in the NCAA tournament, the Crimson Tide could drastically improve its seeding with a strong finish in conference play.

As the regular season continues to wind down we now have a pretty clear picture of who the Tide’s best players are. So I thought we could take a look at who I believe are the top-10 players for Nate Oats right now.

Obviously, this is very subjective so I am sure everyone will agree with my list completely!

Let’s get started, shall we?
