Everything Nate Oats said following NCAA Tournament win over Texas A&M-CC

Everything Alabama’s Nate Oats said following the Tide’s 96-75 win over Texas A&M-CC in the first round of the NCAA Tournament!

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament on Thursday with a 96-75 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Crimson Tide dominated the game from start to finish over the Islanders and played the majority of the second half with its bench players. In fact, Alabama was able to easily handle the Islanders without star freshman Brandon Miller scoring a single point in the matchup.

Next up for the Tide is the round of 32 matchup against the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday night.

Following Thursday’s win, Alabama head coach Nate Oats would speak to the media about his team’s performance in the first round. Here is everything coach Oats had to say.

Everything Nate Oats said following win over Jackson State

Everything Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats said following the Tide’s 84-64 win over Jackson State.

Alabama’s 84-64 win over Jackson State on Tuesday night was not always the best-looking performance from the Crimson Tide, but it was enough to get the job done.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Tide are now 10-2 on the season as we dive into the Christmas break before kick-starting SEC play next week against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Alabama had five players score in double figures with a pair of those being a little bit surprising in Noah Gurley and Nick Pringle.

A strong second-half performance was the difference in the matchup as the Crimson Tide outscored the Tigers 51-32 in the final 20 minutes.

Here is everything coach Oats had to say following win No. 10.

Alabama takes down Vanderbilt on the road 74-72

The Crimson Tide fights off the Commodores in 74-72 road win.

Nate Oats took his Alabama Crimson Tide basketball squad to Nashville for a road game against the Commodores of Vanderbilt on Tuesday evening and came out with his eighth win in SEC play on the year.

Alabama moves to 18-10 on the season including an 8-7 record in conference competition after the close 74-72 victory.

The Crimson Tide had to stave off a late push by the Commodores to come away with the close road win against a good team that came into this game with two consecutive solid wins against then-No. 1 Auburn and Texas A&M.

Alabama was led in scoring by Jahvon Quinerly, who finished the game with 19 points. Noah Gurley, JD Davison and Keon Ellis followed Quinerly in total points with 11, 10 and 10 respectively.

Davison also came down with nine rebounds to lead the Tide on the boards for the night.

Scotty Pippen jr led the Commodores with 26 points. He also tallied six assists in Vanderbilt’s eleventh loss on the year.

Next up for Alabama is a home game against South Carolina on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. CST.

Ranking the Alabama Men’s Basketball Roster

Ranking Alabama’s basketball roster

With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Alabama Crimson Tide currently sits fifth in the SEC with a 6-6 conference record and a 16-9 record overall.

Although Alabama is solidly in the NCAA tournament, the Crimson Tide could drastically improve its seeding with a strong finish in conference play.

As the regular season continues to wind down we now have a pretty clear picture of who the Tide’s best players are. So I thought we could take a look at who I believe are the top-10 players for Nate Oats right now.

Obviously, this is very subjective so I am sure everyone will agree with my list completely!

Let’s get started, shall we?

Crimson Tide men’s hoops now 2-0 in conference play after 83-70 win at Florida

Alabama is now 2-0 in SEC play after a big win over Florida!

Alabama (11-3) is now 2-0 in conference play after Wednesday night’s win on the road against Florida (9-4, 0-1).

The Crimson Tide was playing in its second true road game of the year in what you can consider a conference tone-setting game for Alabama hoops.

Florida came out determined to beat the fifteenth-ranked Tide at its home court in its first conference game of the year after their opener against Ole Miss was postponed due to Covid concerns. The Gators were up at the half by a score of 39-36.

Florida came out in the second half and missed on their first nine shots and Alabama led by as many as 15 points tonight.

Alabama shot 40.3% from the floor and 28% from 3PT-range. The Crimson Tide was led in scoring by both Jahvon Quinerly and Juwan Gary, who score 19 points a piece. Gary also led the Tide in rebounding with eight. Charles Bediako tallied seven.

The Tide defense won this game with intense physicality, they allowed 42% shooting on the night, including 34.8% from three. The Gators offense was smothered in the second half.

Free throws ended up favoring the Gators by a wide margin with 28 attempts. They converted on 18 of those. The Crimson Tide shot 19 free throws and hit 16 of them.

Alabama will take on Missouri on the road on Saturday.

Alabama MBB trails Florida 39-36 at the half

The Crimson Tide are seeking their second win in as many contests in SEC conference play.

Alabama (10-3, 1-0) started off SEC conference play in the 2021-22 college basketball season 1-0 after a 73-68 win against Tennessee at home.

While they have played just one “true” road game (it can be argued that the Gonzaga game in Seattle was a road game) on the year, that game at Memphis ended up in a loss for the Crimson Tide, one of three that they’ve suffered on the campaign.

Alabama is taking on the Florida Gators in Gainesville tonight in what is Florida’s first conference game after their SEC opener against Ole Miss was postponed due to Covid.

Alabama is just 31.4% from the floor and 29.4% from 3PT-range. The Crimson Tide is led in scoring by both Jaden Shackelford and Jahvon Quinerly with eight points each. The rebounding leader through the first half for Nate Oats squad was Charles Bediako with four boards.

The Tide defense is allowing 48% shooting from the floor for the Gators, including 30% from three.

Free throws thus far have favored the Gators with 14 attempts. They’ve converted on 10 of those. The Crimson Tide have shot 11 free throws and have hit nine of them.

The score at the half is 39-36, the Crimson Tide needs to come out of the half with a way to get to the rim. The Gators defense is keeping them in check through 20 minutes.

HALFTIME REPORT: Alabama up on Drake at the half 33-29

20 more minutes of basketball remaining for the Tide! They lead 33-29 at the half.

After dropping one to the Iona Gaels in the ESPN Events Invitational, the Crimson Tide are hoping for a better outcome today against the Drake Bulldogs, another 2020 NCAA Tournament team.

After jumping to a 15-point lead a few minutes before the half, the Crimson Tide committed a few turnovers and allowed the Bulldogs to fight back to within four. The score is now 33-29 with 20 minutes to go.

Alabama is, again, having a bad day shooting free throws midway through this game. The Tide has hit on just 2-6.

Turnovers are still a lingering issue, for sure, with the Tide giving it up 11 times in the first half.

The Crimson Tide are shooting 48.3%, including 30% from three.

Alabama’s leading scorer is Jaden Shackelford with 10 points, he’s also added a pair of rebounds to his stat line.

Defensively, the Crimson Tide is allowing 42% shooting and 43% from three-point range.

Drake is led in scoring by Shanquan Hemphill with eight points and three rebounds.

With a full half of basketball remaining, Alabama is still in a good position to get back in the win column.

Alabama fought another hard battle in Orlando during their second game of the ESPN Events Invitational, beating a good Drake team by a final score of 80-71.

Shots that normally go in for the Crimson Tide weren’t quite falling tonight, but they still managed to pull it off in a close matchup that was tight throughout most of the game.

That’s back-to-back games in which Alabama couldn’t catch a break from behind the line.

The Crimson Tide had a great day shooting the ball from the field and finished with 54%. As mentioned earlier, they did have another bad day from the three-point line, finding the bottom of the net on just 26% of those three-point shots. Alabama turned in another bad shooting night from the free-throw line, finishing up with 13-22 from the stripe.

Turnovers were an issue throughout the game for Alabama, who gave up 17 of them.

Breaking down Alabama Men’s Basketball roster

Let’s take a look at the complete roster for Alabama Men’s Basketball.

Alabama fans have high hopes and aspirations when it comes to Crimson Tide basketball this season. Returning a couple of starters pairs well with the new guys coming in. JD Davison and Charles Bediako are expected to be playmakers right away, while Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett may have to wait until next season to get his turn.

Jaden Shackelford and Jahvon Quinerly are also expected to help anchor the Tide as returning pieces from last season’s SEC championship team. That team advanced to the Sweet 16 during the NCAA Tournament back in April.

Without further ado, let’s get into the roster for your 2021-2022 Alabama Men’s Basketball team, starting with a projected starting lineup.

Alabama lands Furman transfer forward Noah Gurley

Nate Oats continues to hit the recruiting trail hard, and the transfer portal even harder. Today, the Crimson Tide landed Furman forward …

Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide continue to get stronger before the 2021-2022 men’s basketball season. Just a few days after landing 4-star center Charles Bediako and Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett, Alabama has secured a commitment from another high-profile transfer.

Forward Noah Gurley, formerly of Furman, announced via Twitter today that he will be playing next season in a Crimson Tide uniform.

Gurley’s first four years were spent at Furman, but will finish his collegiate career under Oats at Alabama.

Last season, Gurley tallied 15.4 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.

There’s no telling what lies ahead for the Alabama basketball team, but all signs point to the program trending upward.
