Post-spring depth chart projections for Alabama’s defensive line

Projecting Alabama’s defensive line depth chart post-spring!

Now that spring football has officially wrapped up and the 2023 NFL draft is complete, it is time to shift our focus to the offseason.

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide have a ton of questions marks exiting spring and fans are chomping at the bit for answers.

So as we dive into the dog days of summer, I thought we could take a look, position by position, and project the possible depth chart for the 2023 Alabama football team post-spring.

We have already taken a look at the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, and the offensive line. Now that we have completed the offensive side, let’s shift our focus to the defensive side of the ball and look at the defensive line.

Everything Alabama DL Jaheim Oatis said during week two of spring practice

“I’m good around 320-330-ish”, says Alabama super sophomore Jaheim Oatis.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team have entered week two of spring football practice and now the annual A-Day Game is closing in fast.

Each week, the coaching staff selects a pair of players to speak to members of the media. This week it is two defensive stars in sophomore defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis and senior outside linebacker Chris Braswell.

Each player would field a handful of questions from the press on Tuesday as the Crimson Tide prepared to take to the practice field for the fourth time this spring.

Here is everything Jaheim Oatis had to say on Tuesday afternoon!

Jaheim Oatis posts wildly impressive body transformation update

You won’t believe how much weight Alabama DT Jaheim Oatis lost in the past year

Jaheim Oatis was a key piece of the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2022 recruiting class and the investment is now beginning to pay its dividends. The former four-star defensive lineman prospect enrolled early with the Tide last spring, and while Oatis was an outstanding prospect, the knock on him was that he was going to have to shed some weight to see meaningful playing time in the SEC.

Oatis shared an update to his Twitter page this week that shows just how committed he has been to Nick Saban’s process so far. In just over a year in Tuscaloosa, Oatis has gone from 417 pounds to 316. A remarkable 101-pound transformation.

Don’t be surprised to see Oatis become a significant contributor this fall after a freshman All-SEC campaign. He is a player that all Tide fans should be incredibly excited about.

Position Breakdown: Alabama’s DL ahead of spring practice

A deep dive into the Alabama defensive line room as spring football approaches.

We are now just a few weeks out from [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team taking the practice field to begin spring ball.

As is the case each offseason, there are many questions that need to be answered before the Tide hit the field to start the 2023 season.

As spring practice creeps closer, we are going to break down each position group on both sides of the ball. We have already looked at the quarterback room and today we will turn our attention to the defensive side of the ball and look at the interior of the Alabama defensive line.

The defensive line is losing some key pieces from the 2022 season and the competition for playing time will be fierce.

Let’s dive right in!

Coach Saban would mention how excited he and the team are to be back at home for a night game in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Saban would also discuss the mindset of the team following the loss and much more.

True freshmen who participated in Alabama’s Week 1 win over Utah State

A list of true freshmen who participated in Alabama’s Week 1 win over Utah State.

Alabama head football coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] has to be pleased with his team’s effort on Saturday night as the Crimson Tide completely obliterated Utah State 55-0.

One of the most important attributes of a blowout victory is the opportunity that some of the younger players receive to see the field.

Aside from playing several second-year players, Alabama also placed a handful of true freshmen on the field. A few even received some snaps with the first team and receiver [autotag]Kobe Prentice[/autotag] earned the start in the slot.

Below is the complete list of true freshmen who participated in the Week 1 victory over Utah State.

Alabama Morning Drive: Tide players continue to rave about Jaheim Oatis

Alabama football freshman defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis has made quite the impression on his teammates in Tuscaloosa.

Good morning, Tide fans! Welcome to our Wednesday edition of Alabama Morning Dive. Week 1 of the college football season is nearly upon us and will discuss some of that here shortly.

First of all, I want to let everyone know that Alabama Morning Drive will be a little different during the football season. Instead of publishing it each weekday morning, we will only be publishing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Also, we will start to focus on other teams around the SEC and not just the Crimson Tide!

Now that we have that out of the way let’s get right to it!

Projecting Alabama’s depth along the defensive line entering the 2022 season

Despite not having a proven star, Alabama has plenty of depth along the defensive line entering the 2022 season.

Football is back, Tide fans! Alabama will kick the 2022 football season off in one week and the anticipation continues to mount.

As is the case in most seasons, questions regarding the starting lineup for week one are dominating message boards and Twitter threads. Well, with the season just around the corner, I thought I would start dropping my educated projections of who you might see take the first snaps at each position group.

Some groups are obvious such as quarterback and linebacker, but nevertheless, we will take a look at each group and give a little insight into who you might see take the field against Utah State on Sept. 3.

Today we are going to take a look at a group that has plenty of depth but maybe lacks a bit of star power at the moment: the defensive line.

This list will be a touch different because I believe you are going to see several different packages on the defensive line for Alabama, so I will simply list all of the players who I project to have significant playing time.

Let’s roll!

5 defensive players Alabama fans need to watch during A-Day

5 defensive players Alabama fans need to watch during A-Day

Alabama’s annual A-Day game is set to kick off on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CT inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

There is plenty of talent both young and old to be excited about if you are a ‘Bama fan, and it will also be our first opportunity of the spring to see this year’s version of the Tide.

In his Thursday press conference leading up to A-Day, head coach Nick Saban said the format for the scrimmage would be the first-team offense against the first-team defense and the second-team offense against the second-team defense. With this format, fans will get to experience a more game-like scenario with good on good.

Leading up to the start of A-Day, I wanted to sit down and give fans a handful of players from each side of the ball that I believe could make an impact during the scrimmage. I want fans to keep in mind that these are players that fans have not seen make a tremendous impact yet for the Crimson Tide, but could on Saturday and during the 2022 season.

Yesterday we looked at the offensive players, today we will look at the defensive side of the ball.
