Ja’Wuan James suffers season-ending injury

Former Vol Ja’Wuan James suffers Achilles injury.

Former University of Tennessee football player Ja’Wuan James is expected to be out the entire 2021 season.

James, an offensive tackle for the Denver Broncos, suffered a torn Achilles on Tuesday.

He sustained the injury while working out on his own, away from Denver’s facility.

James, a first round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2014, opted out last season due to COVID-19 and since he was injured away from the Broncos’ facility, he may have to forfeit his $10 million salary, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter tweeted that Denver will not be obligated to pay James because he suffered the injury working out on his own and away from the team’s facility at the team’s voluntary workouts, which he has chosen to skip.

James, who played for the Volunteers between 2010-13, was a member of the PFWA All-Rookie Team while playing for Miami in 2014.

He has appeared in 65 NFL games and made 65 starts.

Las Vegas Raiders (7-8) vs Denver Broncos (5-10) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Denver Broncos Will Win

The offense is actually working … sort of.

The team isn’t winning, and there’s still a bit problem cranking up the passing yards, but the offense is doing enough to be balanced against a Raider team that hit a wall.

The Las Vegas defense is getting pounded on and it’s not taking the ball away even a little bit.

How bad has the run defense been? The Raiders have given up 130 yards or more in three of the last four games and there hasn’t been any luck coming up with a big play at the right time.

However …

Why Las Vegas Raiders Will Win

The Denver defense isn’t doing a thing to come up with a big stop.

The Broncos are last in the NFL in takeaways and has generated just one in the last four games.

What went wrong back in mid-November in the 37-12 loss? The Raiders ran for over 200 yards and had control throughout.

The Vegas passing game has been strong lately, but this one will be easy – run, and run some more.

CFN Experts Picks: Week 17 NFL

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

It’s been a disastrous season for a Bronco team that’s not doing a whole lot right lately. The gameplan isn’t going to be a tough one for a Raider team that will find something important about finishing with a .500 record.

Denver doesn’t take the ball away, Vegas will get up fast with a few strong early drives, and then it’ll be about both of them waiting for their respective draft positions.

PODCAST: Bills win AFC East vs. Broncos, how far can they go?

Buffalo Bills podcast following Week 15 win vs. Denver Broncos.

Following a decisive second-half performance and victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14, the Bills were a win away from their first AFC East crown in 25 years.

That is, until Saturday.

In an impressive 48-19 victory against the Denver Broncos, the Bills (11-3) clinched both their first division crown since 1995 as well as a trip to the playoffs.

The with the big day on the scoreboard, the team reached 400 points on the season for the first time since 1998. Buffalo scored early and often, including a touchdown throw from Josh Allen to Jake Kumerow, which tied an NFL record as he was the 13th Bill this season to catch a TD pass. The team added points on both sides of the ball too, when a second-half a sack by Tre’Davious White caused a fumble that was recovered by Jerry Hughes, who then juked defenders for a 21-yard touchdown only 17 seconds after the offense had scored one as well.

The Bills then pulled away in the third quarter, adding 13 more points that included a pair of Tyler Bass field goals and a 51-yard single-play touchdown drive from Devin Singletary to boot.

With the AFC East locked up and a playoff ticket punched, check out this week’s Wagon Wheel podcast with hosts Matt & David below:

WATCH: Jerry Jeudy shows off quickness in wide receiver drill

And as you can see in this drill, Jeudy is going to do whatever it takes to catch any ball thrown his way.

Jerry Jeudy is showing the world that all of his hard work and off season training has paid off. Over the summer, Jeudy posted several videos on social media showcasing his footwork drills, conditioning, and wide receiver drills.

Jeudy, who will be wearing the No. 10 jersey this season, is expected to be a HUGE offensive playmaker for the Broncos this fall, and for many reasons.

First off, he’s incredibly fast down the field, and is able to make big plays.

One of the best things about his playmaking ability is to come up with the ball. And as you can see in this drill, Jeudy is going to do whatever it takes to catch any ball thrown his way.

According to Adam Schefter, Jeudy and the Broncos agreed to a 4 year, $15.2 million dollar contract. Jeudy’s contract also included an $8.61 million signing bonus, which included more than $6 million upfront.

Jeudy was the 15th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, he has been working out with fellow NFL players, and doing whatever he can to get better each and every day.

And if you read the comments on this tweet, Broncos fans are so excited to see what Jeudy can do this season.

Jeudy, who is known for his quick feet, and ability to break free and make big plays did just that for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and will no doubt have do the same for Denver.

Not only is he quick, he’s also fast. Those quick cuts are going to be hard for teams to defend. And as you can see, Jeudy is going to be a threat this season!

Last season, he recorded 77 receptions for 1,163 yards and 10 TDs.

In his career at Alabama, he finished with 159 receptions for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Former Georgia and Broncos RB Terrell Davis donates $400k to help fight coronavirus

Former Georgia football RB Terrell Davis donates to help fight the coronavirus in Colorado.

According to a story published by Fox News, former Georgia running back Terrell Davis has donated $400,000 worth of supplies from his company to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

From Fox News:

The former MVP and Hall of Famer told Fox News on Thursday that he would be providing 50,000 bottles of his beverages to Feeding America food banks across the country, including in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Detroit.

“It’s about leading by example,” he said. “We’re trying to step up at a time when people are really in need.”

That’s why Davis, a co-founder of DEFY, has stepped up to help after seeing empty shelves throughout U.S. grocery stores.

For some background, DEFY is the world’s first mainstream CBD performance beverage built specifically for athletes. Formulated to aid in rapid muscle fiber recovery and clear-headed, hyper-focused training, DEFY delivers naturally derived performance, recovery and rejuvenation for every kind of athlete.

Additionally, Davis told Fox that he plans on donating cases of free beverages to first-responders throughout Colorado.

Davis is not the first former Bulldog to help out during this pandemic. Lions quarterback Matt Stafford has been buying meals for first responders in Michigan as well.

After transferring from Long Beach State, Davis played three seasons in Athens (1992-94) and scored 14 TDs while running for 1,657 yards at a 5.2 ypc clip. His performance wound up getting him selected by the Denver Broncos in the sixth round. He rushed for 7,607 yards in an NFL career cut short by injuries. Davis rushed for 2,008 yards in 1998. Overall, that adds up to more than 9,200 rushing yards.

In 1996 and 1998, Davis was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year in addition to winning league MVP in ’98 after rushing for 2,008 yards and 21 touchdowns.

He was MVP of Super Bowl XXXII after rushing for 157 yards and scoring three touchdowns in the Broncos win over Green Bay. The next season, Davis won his Super Bowl, beating the Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII.

Andrew Wiggins and rookies drive Warriors to comeback win in Denver, 116-100

Andrew Wiggins records a double-double in a 15-point comeback win against the Denver Nuggets.

[jwplayer tMasFmUy-z6KDnl0B]

The Warriors road trip to Denver started as a typical game for Golden State in the 2019-20 season. Golden State battled the Nuggets early to keep it close, but eventually, Denver’s talent overwhelmed the young Warriors squad.

Golden State fell down by 15-points against the playoff-bound Denver Nuggets, but a strong ending to the third quarter sprung the Warriors back into the game. The Warriors have struggled throughout the season to close games, yet in Denver, things were different. The Warriors outscored the Nuggets 34-19 in the fourth quarter to seal their comeback win, 116-100.

Golden State has registered wins in two of their last three games. With the defending champion Toronto Raptors coming to town next, the Warriors could get some help in the return of Stephen Curry from injury.

Andrew Wiggins

In Denver, Andrew Wiggins played one of his best games as a member of the Golden State Warriors. The former member of the Minnesota Timberwolves recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 assists — the second time in his career, he’s tallied 20 points and 10 assists in the same game. Wiggins added five rebounds, a steal and a block.

Rookie Run

Two picks from Golden State’s 2019 draft class made a significant impact in the Warriors comeback effort in Denver. Second-round pick Eric Paschall filled the stat sheet with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting, with five rebounds, five assists and a steal against the Nuggets.

Golden State’s first-round pick Jordan Poole continues his impressive play at point guard recording 15 points, six assists and three rebounds. Poole added four 3-pointers on six attempts from long distance.

Beyond the arc

Since the All-Star break, the Warriors have struggled from 3-point range, shooting only 26.3 % from deep. However, against the Nuggets, Golden State performed their best “Splash Brothers” impression. The Warriors shot 18-of-41 from beyond the arc, with the Nuggets only hitting three 3-pointers on 20 attempts.

10-day contract turned starter, Mychal Mulder led the Warriors from long distance, adding five 3-pointers on 10 shots. Five other members of the Warriors added two or more makes from deep.

Augusta-bound freshman ties NCAA scoring record

Denvers Anna Zanusso became the latest member of the 61 club after her record tying round at the Westbrook Invitational.

[jwplayer 5f1beg9r-9JtFt04J]

Anna Zanusso hit 18 greens and took only 25 putts in an NCAA record-tying 61 at the Westbrook Invitational. It was the Denver freshman’s second round of the day. She would’ve kept on rolling into the night in Peoria, Arizona, if they’d let her.

“I feel really good right now,” said Zanusso. “After 36 holes I’m not tired. I would like to play other holes.”

Zanusso became the fifth player in NCAA Division I history to card a 61. Julia Johnson of Ole Miss was the most recent player to join the club last November at the Battle of the Beach. Maria Stackhouse, who currently competes on the LPGA, became the first at her home course at Stanford in 2013.

Zanusso’s 14-under 130 total gives her a one-stroke lead over Nebraska’s Kate Smith, who shot 65-66. Oklahoma leads the team event at 25-under 551.

Zanusso teed off at 8:30 a.m. local time and finished play just before 6 p.m. She started Round 2 with a par on the sixth hole at Westbrook Village Golf Club. She made four birdies in a row on Nos. 8-11. Then put together another string of birdies on Nos. 13-15. The Italian native knew that 64 was the program record at Denver, but she didn’t realize that her putt for 61 tied a national record. She carded 11 birdies on the day.

“All of the birdies were within 15 feet,” said Denver head coach Lindsay Kuhle. “There were no bombs. She was just incredible with her ball-striking today.”

Kuhle said that after Zanusso found out that she was in the field for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, she might have pressed too much in all of the excitement. She’s just now getting back to herself, and after a talk with her mental coach, slowed things down a bit to get back into her routine.

“I was really confident with my game,” said Zanusso. “In particular my putter. I was sure that I could have made every single putt, and actually I did.”

NCAA low 18-hole record

61 – Anna Zanusso, Denver (Westbrook Invitational, Round 2, Par 72, Feb. 23, 2020)

61 – Julia Johnson, Ole Miss (Battle at the Beach, Round 3, Par 72, Nov. 3, 2019)

61 – Bianca Pagdanganan, Gonzaga (Pizza Hut Thunderbird Invitational, Round 2, Par 72, March 17, 2017)

61 – Esther Lee, Colorado (Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, Round 1, Par 72, Sept. 12, 2016)

61 – Mariah Stackhouse, Stanford (Peg Barnard Invitational, Round 2, Par 71, Feb. 17, 2013)

PODCAST: Can Bills carry consistency vs. Broncos into Cowboys meeting?

Buffalo Bills podcast following Week 12 in over Denver Broncos, ahead of Thanksgiving meetings vs. Cowboys.

The Buffalo Bills won their second straight game to improve to 8-3 on the season for the first time since 1996. It was a remarkable game, with the team displaying proficiency in all three phases of football that put up points and yardage on a top defense, halting a strong run offense, and did it’s job on special teams.

Denver had played much better than it’s record until this point, and they hit an absolute brick wall at New Era Field. The Bills defense only allowed 167 yards of total offense in Week 12. Buffalo downed talented running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. In fact, it seemed that Broncos play calling didn’t aim to target Buffalo’s sketchy run defense in the second half, as they became very pass happy and one-dimensional.

In the Broncos closest venture towards the end zone, they could not get the job done as Tre’Davious White was essentially handed an interception and a broken route intended for Courtland Sutton, who was held for one catch in the outing.

The offense did well, aside from a bad Josh Allen interception that gave Denver some of the best field positioning that they had all day. 244 yards on the ground, again dominated by Devin Singletary.

However, the big news was that, Frank Gore, the journeyman running back, passed Barry Sanders to become third all-time in rushing yards. A tremendous accomplishment, and extra satisfying that it happened with him wearing a Bills jersey.

Buffalo prepares for Dallas on a short week for this Thursday, as the Bills play their first Thanksgiving game in several years. The quick turnaround has affected many teams this year, not being allowed to play to their full potential. Everyone is already hard at work at One Bills Drive to ensure the Bills are prepared for their latest National Spotlight opportunity.

Bills opponent outlook: Broncos history, statistics and more

The 7-3 Buffalo Bills meet the 3-7 Denver Broncos this Sunday at New Era Field. Buffalo is riding high after it’s best offensive endeavor of the season against the Dolphins in Week 11. Denver is one of the better teams in the NFL with a sub .500 record, and will be a handful to compete against.

Here is everything that you need to know about the history between Denver and Buffalo:

  • Buffalo and Denver first met on September 18, 1960 in the inaugural season of the AFL. Denver won that game 27-21.
  • Buffalo won nine straight against Denver between 1962 and 1967.
  • Buffalo and Denver met in the 1991 AFC Championship Game. The Bills narrowly defeated the Broncos 10-7.
  • Their last meeting was on September 24, 2017. The Bills won 26-16.
  • The Bills have the all-time record lead, at 20-16-1 against Denver in the regular season.
  • The Bills also lead in scoring all-time versus Denver, outscoring them 891-818

2018 Season

Denver, much like this year, was a relatively competitive team in 2018, despite their record. Case Keenum was signed in the offseason, in hopes to solidify their quarterback woes since Peyton Manning retired. It wasn’t enough, as the Broncos offense didn’t have a lot of star power, and the defense, although very talented, gave up some losses for them.

Denver finished the season 6-10, missing the playoffs for the third-straight year. They earned wins over Seattle, Arizona, Oakland, Cincinnati, Los Angeles (Chargers), and Pittsburgh.

Another disappointing season for General Manager John Elway, who would look to bring about more change following the 2018 year.

Last season, Denver finished 19th in Total Offense, with 5,602 yards. 24th in scoring, with 329 points. 19th in passing yards with 3,695 and 12th in rushing with 1,907 yards.

Case Keenum, coming off of his miracle season with the Minnesota Vikings, actually threw for a few more yards with Denver. His touchdown to interception ratio is what hurt him and his tenure, as he was traded to Washington after his year with the Broncos was over.

Keenum was ranked 14th in passing yards in 2018, with 3,890 yards to his credit, along with 18 touchdowns to 15 interceptions.

Rushing was a strong point for Denver in 2018,. After losing C.J. Anderson, who had regressed, quarterback wasn’t the only hole that the Broncos faced. Led by drafted rookie Royce Freeman, and undrafted rookie Philip Lindsay. One of the more underrated one-two punches in the NFL, the pair finished very well, and helped carry struggling offense.

Lindsay finished the highest as far as yardage, ranking ninth in the NFL amongst rushers, with 1,037 yards. He also accrued nine rushing touchdowns. His backfield partner, Freeman, finished 38th in rushing yards, with 521 and five touchdowns.

Receiving hasn’t been one of Denver’s strong aspects either, as they have lost a few weapons over the years since Manning left. Emmanuel Sanders was their leading receiver in 2018, finishing 27th with 868 yards and four touchdowns.

Emerging receiver Courtland Sutton, was next in yardage totals at the receiver position, with 704. He came in at 51st in the NFL. No other Broncos receiver or tight end finished in the Top 100.

Defensively, the Broncos were 13th in total defense, allowing 5,842 yards, as well as in points allowed with 349 points scored on them. Their passing defense came in 20th, giving up 3,929 yards by air. The rush defense, 12th with 1,913 yards given up on the ground.

2019 So Far

PODCAST: Has the Bills offense made a turnaround?

Bills Wire Buffalo Bills podcast recap of the team’s Week 11 win over the Miami Dolphins.

The Buffalo Bills went down to Miami and took care of the business, squishing the “fish”(mammals) in their second encounter of the season with a score of 37-20. It was the most points accrued by this Bills offense all season, and they shined in all aspects. Mustached Buffalo offense coordinator Brian Daboll got it done.

Despite what their record may say, Mimai was a valiant team, and had been riding high on a two-game win streak, but the Bills slowed them down. There were a few moments where the Dolphins had opportunities to take over the game, but they could not capitalize.

Miami only attempted to rush a mere 13 attempts for 23 yards, a questionable decision since rushing up the middle worked to their advantage in the first encounter.

The offense for Buffalo was essentially fan service against Miami, and the Bills social media crowd got their way. Devin Singletary was the primary running back, getting key downs and leading the rushing yardage. Quarterback Josh Allen heaved the ball around, hitting wideout John Brown for two touchdown passes, further cementing Brown’s roster spot for years to come. Brown, who many have only viewed as “just a deep ball guy” has shown that he can be the No. 1 receiver that the team has desperately needed for a long time.

Billswire Podcast Hosts Matt Johnson and Jeremy Juhasz explore the big win in Miami, and look ahead ahead toward Denver next week:
