After being waived by the Warriors before the start of the season, Mychal Mulder has agreed to a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic.

After waiving Mychal Mulder before the start of the 2021-22 season, the former Golden State Warriors guard has found a new home in Orlando. On Tuesday, Mulder agreed to a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic.

Last season in Golden State, the former Kentucky Wildcat guard played in 60 games, averaging 5.6 points on 44.9% shooting from the field with a rebound and 0.4 assists in 12.8 minutes per game.

Mulder is a proven shooter from long distance, shooting 38% from deep on four attempts per contest in his career. Mulder drilled five or more 3-pointers in five different contests during his career in Golden State.

Against the New Orleans Pelicans last season, the 27-year-old recorded a career-high 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field with seven 3-pointers.

Following 67 games alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Mulder will join Cole Anthony, Mo Bamba, Wendell Carter Jr. and 2021 No. 5 overall pick Jalen Suggs with the Magic.

Mulder will return to the Bay Area to face his former team for the first time on Dec. 6 at Chase Center.

Warriors waive Avery Bradley, Gary Payton II, Mychal Mulder and Jordan Bell, keep final roster spot open

After the preseason finale, the Warriors waived four players, keeping their final roster spot open.

After wrapping up the preseason with another win over the Portland Trail Blazers, the Golden State Warriors had to make some adjustments to their roster before the start of the regular season.

Following their 119-97 win over Portland, the Warriors waived four players. Golden State waived all four players in competition for their 15th roster spot, including veteran Avery Bradley and former Warriors Gary Payton II, Mychal Mulder and Jordan Bell.

Via @WarriorsPR on Twitter:

Bradley was looked at as a favorite to land the final roster spot. However, the Warriors will now enter the regular season with some flexibility at the end of their roster.

In four preseason games, Bradley averaged 4.2 points on 38.9% shooting from the floor in 12.7 minutes per game. The 11-year-veteran will now become a free agent.

Payton II’s time in the preseason was limited to only one game due to a hernia injury. On Friday, the Oregon State product played 11 minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. Payton II was ruled out against the Blazers on Tuesday with the same hernia injury.

After spending the 2020-21 season with the Warriors, Mulder could be a candidate to return to the Bay Area on a two-way deal. Chris Chiozza is currently the only player on Golden State’s roster on a two-way contract with the Santa Cruz Warriors. The Warriors currently have one open two-way slot for the 2020-21 season.

Jordan Bell played in four preseason games with the Warriors, averaging three points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.2 minutes.

Predicting every Warrior player’s rating in NBA 2K22

With “NBA 2K22” set to release in early September, Warriors Wire drops a rating prediction for every member of the Golden State Warriors.

The latest installment of the “NBA 2K” franchise is set to arrive Sept. 10, and Warriors fans can look forward to playing with a squad that looks remarkably similar to the glory years.

We already know that Stephen Curry, coming off a top-3 finish in MVP voting, is tied for the highest player rating in the game at 96. Draymond Green is still around, Klay Thompson will soon be back in action after two years of injury, and Andre Iguodala is a Warrior again.

But 2K’s all-important player ratings are bound to change for “NBA 2K22.” How will they judge Thompson after two years away? How can they quantify the value of a player like Green? Where do younger Dubs like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and Jordan Poole stand?

Here are rating predictions for every player on the roster (besides Curry) heading into the season.

Warriors’ Mychal Mulder accepts 2021 training camp invite for Team Canada

Mychal Mulder will join fellow Golden State Warriors teammate Andrew Wiggins at training camp for Team Canada’s 2021 squad.

After an early entrance to the offseason, some members of the Golden State Warriors are shifting their focus towards the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

While it’s still unclear if Steph Curry and Draymond Green will suit up for Team USA in the summer games, a pair of players will represent the Warriors at Team Canada’s 2021 training camp.

On Thursday, Team Canada announced their 21-player training camp roster for the lead into the Olympics that included Golden State’s Mychal Mulder and Andrew Wiggins.

While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray and Chris Boucher were left off due to injury, the training camp roster includes other NBA players like RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Khem Birch, Lu Dort, Brandon Clarke and Kelly Olynyk.

Before punching a ticket to the Olympics in Tokyo, Team Canada will need to seal a victory in a qualifying tournament in Victoria, BC in June.

Coming off his first full season with the Golden State Warriors, Mulder played in 60 games, averaging 5.6 points on 44.9% shooting from the floor with one rebound in 12.8 minutes per contest.

Shooting 39.7% from beyond the arc on 3.6 attempts from deep per game, Mulder will bring his sharpshooting skillset to Team Canada.

Watch: Warriors’ Mychal Mulder spikes emphatic poster dunk vs. Thunder

During an explosive second quarter for the Warriors against the Thunder, Mychal Mulder spiked an emphatic one-handed dunk.

Mychal Mulder has secured his spot on the Golden State Warriors roster because of his lethal jumper from beyond the arc. The sharpshooting guard is averaging 35.6% from deep on 3.3 attempts in a limited role off the bench through 50 career games with the Warriors.

On Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Kentucky product added a moment to his highlight reel. However, his must-watch flash has nothing to do with his silky jumper.

During the second quarter, Mulder exploded to the bucket for a thunderous one-handed slam dunk. Following his spike over Oklahoma City’s Isaiah Roby, the Golden State bench erupted in celebration.

Mulder finished the contest with five points on 2-of-5 shooting from the floor with an assist and rebound in in 19 minutes off the bench in Golden State’s 147-109 blowout win over Oklahoma City to start a five-game road swing.

Warriors’ James Wiseman, Mychal Mulder named to NBA’s 2021 Rising Stars team

Rookie James Wiseman and sharpshooter Mychal Mulder will represent the Golden State Warriors on the 2021 NBA’s Rising Stars team.

With the 2021 NBA All-Star weekend compressed into one night, the league elected not to feature the Rising Stars Challenge. However, rookies and second-year players will still earn the honor despite no game being played.

Following the announcement of Team USA and Team World for the Rising Stars Challenge, Steph Curry won’t be the only player to represent the Golden State Warriors with NBA All-Star honors.

On Thursday, the NBA selected rookie James Wiseman and sharpshooter Mychal Mulder to the league’s 2021 Rising Stars team.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

As a rookie, the 2020 second overall pick is averaging 12 points on 51.5% shooting from the field with 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest. Wiseman has notched one double-double and 16 games with at least double figures in scoring.

Prior to signing with Golden State in March of 2020, Mulder spent three seasons in the G League. Since joining the Warriors, the Kentucky product is averaging 5.4 points on 42.3% shooting from the field with 1.4 boards in 39 games.

The 2021 edition of the Rising Star Challenge will be the second season in a row the Warriors will have a player featured on the roster. In 2020, Eric Paschall scored a game-high 23 points in 20 minutes for Team USA.

Along with Wiseman, fellow top prospects like Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards will represent Team USA and the Canadian-born Mulder will join Deni Avdija, RJ Barrett and Luguentz Dort on Team World.

Reaction and Stats: Warriors hold on late for first win of preseason vs. Nuggets, 107-105

In their first game in months, the Golden State Warriors opened the 2020-21 preseason with a narrow win over the Denver Nuggets, 107-105.

For the first time in nine months, the Golden State Warriors made their highly-anticipated return to Chase Center in San Francisco for the opening game of the preseason against the Denver Nuggets.

With Golden State’s return to the court, Stephen Curry reclaimed his starting spot at the point guard position. Although James Wiseman and Draymond Green missed the game, new additions Kelly Oubre Jr., Kent Bazemore and Nico Mannion made their debuts in the Bay Area.

The Golden State Warriors started the game strong, outscoring the Nuggets by eight points in the first quarter. In his return to the Warriors, Bazemore tallied 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field with three boards in the first half.

Despite a steady first-half performance, the Nuggets clawed back into the game late. A trio of triples in the fourth quarter from Mychal Mulder helped seal the Warriors’ tight victory, 107-105.

Steve Kerr says Mychal Mulder has ‘a good chance’ at making the Warriors 15-man roster

After a short stint of games in the Bay Area last season, Mychal Mulder has an opportunity to make the Warriors’ final 15-man roster in 2020-21.

After bouncing around the G League to start his professional career, Mychal Mulder landed with the Golden State Warriors on a 10-day contract in late February.

During his 10-day deal, Mulder impressed, averaging 11 points on 38.8% shooting from the field with 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 29.1 minutes. During that span, Mulder tallied double-figures in scoring in four games, including 18 and 17 point scoring performances.

Instead of inking the Kentucky product to another 10-day, the Warriors opted to sign him to a multi-year non-guaranteed contract. However, his solid debut in the Bay Area was cut to only seven games due to the coronavirus pandemic.

With training camp underway for the 2020-21 season, Mulder will be one of the players competing for a place on the Warriors roster. Luckily for Mulder, he has a fan in Steve Kerr. Following the third day of practice at Chase Center, Kerr said he thinks Mulder has “a good chance” at making Golden State’s 15-man roster.

Well, I think he has a good chance. I’m a fan of Mike. He’s a shooter. He’s a smart player at both ends. We were really pleased with his play a year ago. We’re a team that’s not heavy on shooting as we know, especially with Klay [Thompson] going out. Mike just has to be himself and play hard and compete. He had a good day today — knocked down some shots and made some plays. He’s got to just keep pushing forward and see how it all goes.

The 26-year-old will vie for a role behind Steph Curry in Golden State’s backcourt. Mulder will likely compete for minutes with Damion Lee and Jordan Poole.

With Klay Thompson out, the Warriors could use a high caliber shooter like Mulder in the rotation. Over his last two seasons in the G League, Mulder shot 40.5% from beyond the arc on 8.4 attempts per game.

During Golden State’s opening preseason game against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, Mulder will be a player to keep an eye on.

Mychal Mulder says it doesn’t look like Klay Thompson has missed a shot at Warriors offseason minicamp

In his first practices since returning from an ACL injury, Klay Thompson is getting praise from new teammate

After missing the entire 2019-20 season while recovering from a torn ACL, Klay Thompson appeared on the court at the Golden State Warriors offseason voluntary minicamp. Thompson has been working through a bevy of different drills and group workouts inside the Bay Area edition of the Bubble.

Along with his long-awaited return to the practice floor, Golden State’s “Dubble” is serving as Thompson’s first opportunity to practice alongside his new Golden State teammates. Since Thompson’s injury, players like Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, DeMarcus Cousins and others have left Golden State’s roster.

Following a stint of practices at minicamp, Thompson is making a strong impression on his new group of teammates. In a post-practice interview with members of the media, Mychal Mulder said it doesn’t look like Thompson has missed a beat at practice. Mulder is “excited” the five-time All-Star is “back to the Klay Thompson everyone knows.”

Mulder via Warriors SoundCloud:

He’s looking great. He’s been looking awesome. I see him in the weight room every day — working hard. I see him on the court in the drills. It doesn’t look like he misses a shot. From my aspect, it doesn’t look like he’s missing a beat — really excited. I’m sure you guys will all see it in the scrimmage. Moving forward, he’s back to the Klay Thompson everyone knows. We’re all excited about that.

Beside not missing a shot, the Washington State product spiked a one-handed slam dunk on a drive past Eric Paschall at a recent practice.

[lawrence-related id=31545]

Although Thompson has looked like his old self at practice, the Warriors have limited the sharpshooting guard to “controlled scrimmages” instead of full 5-on-5 scrimmages.

With an extended offseason ahead of the Warriors, there’s no reason to rush Thompson back to live-action. Golden State will be counting on Thompson’s return to form during their mission back to the Western Conference postseason.

Mychal Mulder is trying to matchup with Klay Thompson as much as he can at Warriors minicamp

During the Golden State Warriors offseason minicamp, Mychal Mulder is trying to take advantage of his opportunity to guard Klay Thompson.

Klay Thompson’s long-awaited return to the practice facility provides an opportunity for the young members of the Golden State Warriors core.

After he missed the entire 2019-20 season while recovering from the knee injury he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals, Golden State’s voluntary offseason minicamp is the first chance for the Warriors’ new arrivals to work with Thompson at practice.

Since the last time Thompson laced up for a Golden State practice, there’s been an influx of young players at the wing position. Since the start of 2019, Jordan Poole, Ky Bowman and Mychal Mulder have all landed in the Bay Area.

In a post-practice interview with members of the media, Mulder called it a “blessing” to work with Thompson at minicamp. During practice, the Kentucky product said he’s trying to match up with Thompson as much as he can.

Mulder via Warriors SoundCloud:

Anytime I get the opportunity, really. Because, as you know, Klay [Thompson] wasn’t playing when I first got here. Now that we got Klay back on the floor, I try to match up with him as much as I can. Obviously, it’s a great opportunity for me and everyone else — just to really sponge off his knowledge of the game and his leadership. So, obviously, anytime I get the chance to be on the floor with him and really get to guard him and he guards me, that’s obviously a blessing in itself — something that makes us all a lot better.

Although he only played seven games with the Warriors, Mulder impressed in his short stint in the Bay Area. The 26-year-old averaged 11.0 points on 38.8% shooting with 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 29.1 minutes per game. The G League veteran marked double-figures in scoring in four of his seven contests with the Warriors.

The voluntary minicamp will serve as an opportunity for Mulder to lay the foundation for his bid to make the Warriors set roster before the start of the 2020-21 season.
