Injury, absence updates from Chiefs OTAs on Thursday

10 players were absent from the #Chiefs’ sixth OTA practice on Thursday, with three others sidelined for one reason or another.

The Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up their sixth organized team activity practice on Thursday. They’ll take another long weekend with members of last year’s Super Bowl team heading to the White House on Monday before returning to Kansas City for the final four days of OTAs from June 6-9.

Andy Reid didn’t speak to the media on Thursday, so no official updates regarding any injuries or absences in practice. Media members were present for practice on Thursday and Arrowhead Pride’s Pete Sweeney noted that the following 10 players were not seen at practice:

  • DT Chris Jones
  • CB L’Jarius Sneed
  • DT Tershawn Wharton
  • TE Blake Bell
  • TE Travis Kelce
  • RB Jerick McKinnon
  • RB Isiah Pacheco
  • LT Donovan Smith
  • WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette
  • WR Kadarius Toney

Keep in mind, this portion of the offseason program is still entirely voluntary. It’s not uncommon to see 10 players out of practice this time of the year for various reasons. Jones has been keeping away with his contract situation up in the air. Wharton is working his way back from an ACL injury suffered in Week 5 of last year. Pacheco is still limited with his offseason surgeries, but RB coach Todd Pinkston confirmed that he’s been helping out in the team meetings while he has been sidelined.

It might be uncomfortable to see names like Toney, Kelce and McKinnon here, but it’s much more likely that they’re out of practice for personal reasons than an injury issue this time of the year. For veterans like Kelce and McKinnon, it’s not to uncommon to see them pick and choose with these types of practices.

It is notable that Sneed was fully absent from practice after being spotted on the sideline last week. Trent McDuffie remained sidelined along with international OT Jason Godrick and free agent S Mike Edwards, according to Sweeney.

Texans release Thursday injury report ahead of Week 11 matchup vs. Commanders

The #Texans only had one player listed as a non-participant on Thursday

The Houston Texans released their second injury report of the week on Thursday ahead of their matchup against the Washington Commanders this weekend. After listing a whopping six players as non-participants on Wednesday, the team trimmed that number to just one today, with the lone holdout being rookie cornerback Derek Stingley, who is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Stingley had been limited on Wednesday but seems to have taken a step back given his designation on Thursday. Linebacker Neville Hewitt is also having trouble with a hamstring and was the only player listed as a limited participant in today’s practice.

Among the notable players whose status changed for the better were defensive lineman Maliek Collins, receivers Nico Collins and Brandin Cooks, and linebackers Christian Kirksey and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who were all listed as full participants. Offensive lineman Kenyon Green and running back Dare Ogunbowale joined their teammates with the same designation after being listed as limited and non-participants on Wednesday respectively.

The Texans’ health will be a primary concern for the team heading into their challenging Week 11 matchup against the Commanders that managed to knock off the NFL’s last undefeated team, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Monday. Houston is likely to be outmatched against Washington, but given their mostly clean injury report, they may have at least one advantage given that the Commanders had seven players listed as limited or non-participants.

Clearly, the Texans’ most impactful loss on Thursday was Derek Stingley, who could be at risk of missing Sunday’s game if his status does not improve in the coming days. His absence against the surging Commanders would leave the defense at a huge loss given Washington’s depth at the wide receiver position. Fortunately, Houston’s burgeoning pass rush should be able to find success if the defensive line unit continues to stay healthy through the team’s final practices this week.

Thursday injury report for Chiefs vs. Jaguars, Week 10

Our second injury report of the week ahead of the #Chiefs vs. #Jaguars Week 10 game.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars released their second injury reports of the week on Thursday. Both teams saw players upgraded, while Kansas City saw one player’s participation downgraded.

Adrian Amos returns to practice, Jaire Alexander full participant on Thursday

Thursday’s injury report brought two upgrades for the Packers: Adrian Amos returned, and Jaire Alexander was a full participant.

Two starting members of the Green Bay Packers secondary took meaningful steps towards playing in London against the New York Giants during Thursday’s practice, the last before the team flies overseas for Sunday’s Week 5 showdown.

Safety Adrian Amos returned to practice in a limited capacity, meaning he took a step forward in the concussion protocol and could still play Sunday. He suffered the head injury in the first half of last week’s win over the Patriots.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander was upgraded from a limited participant on Wednesday to a full participant on Thursday, suggesting he’s on track to return after missing last week with a groin injury.

The only bad sign on Thursday’s injury report was for rookie Devonte Wyatt, who didn’t practice while dealing with a quadriceps injury. He’s been nothing more than a rotational player during the first four games of his NFL career and now could be inactive for Week 5.

Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis got a rest day. Left tackle David Bakhtiari, right tackle Elgton Jenkins, center Josh Myers, receiver Allen Lazard and safety Tariq Carpenter were all limited again.

The Giants upgraded two players on the injury report but still had six non-participants on Thursday. Quarterback Daniel Jones was limited again but looks capable of playing Sunday.

Pollard’s plantar, Parsons hip pocket headline Cowboys-WFT injury report

Micah Parsons and Tony Pollard are dealing with injuries for Dallas while Washington has a slew of nagging issues on both sides of the ball. | From @CDBurnett7

Coming into Week 14, the Dallas Cowboys finally appeared to have a healthy lineup after dealing with a long list of injuries throughout the season. Defensive ends Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory are back from injury and will play together for the first time since Week 1 barring any setbacks for Gregory. On top of that, defensive tackle Neville Gallimore is expected to make his 2021 debut against Washington.

Even tight end Blake Jarwin’s return hasn’t been ruled out after being placed on IR with a hip injury earlier in the season. With three straight divisional games coming up, it’s gut-check time for a Cowboys team that lost their momentum in November and sits just two games ahead of the Washington Football Team, their road opponent this week. The returning players give Dallas hope for a reawakening late in the season, but more injuries have entered the conversation as Micah Parsons appear on the injury report for the first time and information about Tony Pollard’s foot injury became available.
