The Philadelphia Eagles are less than two weeks away from a season-opening showdown in D.C. against Chase Young and the Washington Football Team.

With training camp now in full swing and several notable changes to the roster, here’s an updated 53 man roster projection with two extra players added because the Birds technically can elevate two practice squad players per week, basically carrying 55 if they so choose.

QB – 3 — Carson Wentz, Jalen Hurts, Nate Sudfeld

Sudfeld was the unquestioned backup but Hurts looked sharp at times during training camp.   Training camp scrimmages aren’t real games and for that reason alone, Hurts starts the season as the third guy on the depth chart.

Report: Eagles’ RG Jason Peters looking to be paid accordingly if returns to the left tackle position

The Philadelphia Eagles could have a conundrum at the left tackle position and the end result could revolve around a few million dollars.

Andre Dillard is the Eagles future at left tackle but the second-year offensive tackle will miss the 2020 NFL season after tearing a biceps in practice this week.

It was expected that Jason Peters would automatically revert back to the left tackle position, but Matt Pryor has been getting reps with the first team while Peters remains at guard. Jeff McLane of The Inquirer is reporting that the holdup could involve money and Peters being paid accordingly to the position he plays.

But there’s an explanation other than the one Pederson gave about looking at some of the younger, more inexperienced options: Peters wants to be paid like a starting left tackle if he’s to assume the role for the 2020 season, NFL sources told The Inquirer.

Peters, 38, signed a one-year, $3 million contract to play right guard last month after starter Brandon Brooks suffered an Achilles tendon injury in June. Guards make significantly less than tackles, especially on the left flank.

During a Saturday morning zoom call with the media, Pederson told McLane that several players were in the mix to replace Dillard at left tackle.

“Jason Peters is obviously in the conversation,” Pederson said earlier Saturday during a video conference call with reporters. “We do have some young players, Jordan Mailata, Matt Pryor. Jack Driscoll, who’s a [fourth-round] rookie, obviously, but has been playing some tackle for us.”

Peters spent 11 years as the Eagles left tackle and returned to the team in free agency after signing a one-year, $3 million deal with $1.8 million guaranteed.

It now looks like the Eagles will have to up the asking price if they want Peters to return to his natural position.

Eagles RG Brandon Brooks looks to be ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn Achilles

When Brandon Brooks tore his Achilles in Junes, the Eagles star right guard increased his strength and conditioning, taking his training to new heights.

Brooks is a quick healer and the Eagles must be aware because rather than put the All-Pro on injured reserve, the Birds placed him on the PUP list, likely securing a roster spot for this season.

Now Brooks has his boot off and in a video from his Instagram page, the Eagles star looks to be in phenomenal shape and ahead of schedule from his rehab.

Brooks’ placement on the PUP list was a surprise to some and although an Achilles tear is usually a nine-month rehab process, but it leaves room for the possibility that Brooks could make a late-season return in the event that Philadelphia makes a deep playoff run.

Eagles’ Miles Sanders hoping to link-up with former Texans star RB Arian Foster

Miles Sanders has been compared to some really good running backs early on in his career and after shattering the records of one former Eagles great, the former Penn State star is hoping to get a tutorial from another comparable star.

Last season, Jason Peters compared Sanders to another former Eagles great, now signed in Tampa Bay.

“He is on that Shady level. He’s smooth,” Peters said. “He can catch, split him out, same as we did with Shady. He’s going to be a good one.”

Brandon Brooks took it a step further, comparing him to his former teammate in Houston, Arian Foster.

“Arian at his peak, there was nothing he couldn’t do: receive out of the backfield, making guys miss, taking the ball [the distance]. We ran a zone back then — one cut downhill. He reminds me of him a lot,” Brooks said.

Now Brooks is trying to help Sanders and Foster link up according to the Eagles star running back who stated that he’s hopeful the meeting will happen.

“He’s really smooth and great at that stretch game,” Sanders said of Foster.

Former Eagles great Tra Thomas has some apprehension about Jason Peters making the transition to right guard

Tra Thomas has some concern about Jason Peters playing right guard

[jwplayer II4XvP6D]

The Philadelphia Eagles are moving forward with Jason Peters in place of the injured Brandon Brooks, but that hasn’t stopped fans and some analysts from questioning whether or not it’s a good fit.

Peters has openly discussed playing guard if it would extend his career and with Brooks lost for the season due to a torn Achilles, he’ll get the chance to prove his versatility once again.

Former Eagles great and Pro Bowl left tackle Tra Thomas gave his opinion on the matter again recently and told Bleeding Green Nation that “he’s concerned” about Peters making the adjustment.

“To me, he’s been in a left-handed stance for 14, 15 years now. And you’re going to say, alright, let’s switch over and we’re going to move you over to the right side and, oh yeah, we’re gonna bump you down to guard? I think that’s a big ask. Especially when you don’t have any preseason games, any warmup, you’re not going through OTAs, you’re not going through any of that. Training camp is going to be modified. So you’re pretty much going to go from, hey, let’s move you over to right guard from a couple practices and then now they’re just going to throw you in the live fire in a game. That’s a big ask, when you’re asking someone that’s been in a left-handed stance for so long.”

When asked if he was concerned about Peters having success at guard, Thomas was honest and forthright in his assessment.

“I’m feeling concerned. I’m really feeling concerned about throwing JP in there at right guard. Only because he doesn’t have any preseason games to kind of get ready. Now, are you really going to have guys going at him like that in practice? Because that’s what’s going to have to happen. You know, you can’t go from pitter-patter to now you’re going to get out there and it’s going to be full tilt against some of these defensive tackles that are going to be coming after you. So that means practice is not going to be like how it was before, where you could go out there and chill, you have a young rusher that’s not going to really challenge you. You’re playing a totally different position, so now that means you have to get challenged on the regular in practice.”

Thomas brought up a good point in the article and whatever apprehension the Eagles currently have should go away as he continues to work against the likes of Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Javon Hargrave, Malik Jackson, and others.

It also doesn’t hurt that Peters will be insulated with Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson both flanking his inside, allowing the former left tackle to ease into his position switch.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that starting right guard Brandon Brooks has been placed on the active/PUP list with a torn Achilles.

The Birds claimed tight end, Caleb Wilson, in his place after he was waived by the Washington Football Team on Monday and re-signed star left tackle Jason Peters to take Brooks spot in the lineup at right guard.

Eagles TE Zach Ertz lands at No. 85 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2020 list

Zach Ertz is No. 85 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players list for 2020

The Philadelphia Eagles are down to one player on the NFL Network’s Top 100 players for 2020 list after Zach Ertz landed at No. 85 on the list.

Ertz was No. 40 on the list in 2019 and although he slipped some in the rankings, he’s no doubt a top-100 player after a season in which he amassed 88 catches for almost 1,000 yards and six touchdowns.

Ertz joins Brandon Brooks, Jason Kelce, and Darius Slay on the list.

Eagles will only have 5 players on NFL Network’s ‘Top 100’ list

The disrespect for the Philadelphia Eagles is real and in a move that should leave the bulk of the team extremely motivated, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia is reporting that the Birds only have five players on the NFL Network’s Top 100 players for 2020 list.

Making matters worse, three of those players have already been revealed with Brandon Brooks landing at No. 98, Jason Kelce at No. 94, and Darius Slay at No. 92.

The reveal means that the other two players on the list will likely come down to either Fletcher Cox, Carson Wentz, Lane Johnson, or Zach Ertz.

Ertz, Wentz, and Cox all were voted to the list last summer.

Eagles center Jason Kelce lands at No. 94 on the NFL’ Top 100 players of 2020 list

The Philadelphia Eagles are on the board with their second player being named to the NFL Network’s Top 100 players list for the 2020 NFL season.

He dropped some in the rankings, but Jason Kelce makes his second straight appearance landing at No. 94.

Kelce was No. 72 on the list last season and as the top center in the NFL, beyond worthy of the recognition after being named an All-Pro.
