RUMOR: Georgia vs. Iowa game coming into fruition?

RUMOR: Following two cancellations, could we see a possible Georgia football vs. Iowa football Saturday matchup?

Twitter is currently buzzing with rumors of a Georgia vs. Iowa matchup happening this Saturday, Dec. 19.

Georgia’s game against Vanderbilt, which was postponed from the original date of Dec. 5, was officially cancelled on Monday due to COVID-19.  The 6-2 Iowa Hawkeyes were set to play Michigan this Saturday but that game was also cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.

The reason there is so much buzz for this game to happen is because positive test results came back from Vanderbilt and Michigan, while Georgia and Iowa currently have no positive COVID-19 tests.

This game is a far stretch from happening.  Conferences agreed to keep regular season play to in-conference only this year and there are only so many days to hammer out all the logistics between the two teams as well as the Big Ten and SEC.  No official reports of this game have been released, they are all rumors and speculation.

Although it’s not likely, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart told Sandra Golden of 680 The Fan that the Dawgs are still looking for an opponent for Saturday to get their 10th and final game of the regular season played.

Georgia was set to have its Senior Day this Saturday against Vanderbilt.

Here’s how the Twitter world is reacting to the news of the Iowa vs. Michigan game being cancelled:

Halftime: UGA Twitter reacts to a huge first half from Georgia run game

Georgia is leading South Carolina 28-10 at halftime thanks to a big performance by the Bulldogs running game. Here’s what UGA Twitter says.

No. 9 Georgia is leading South Carolina 28-10 at halftime.

The story so far is a dominant Georgia offense, led not by the arm of quarterback JT Daniels like last week vs. Mississippi State, but by the Bulldogs run game.

Georgia has ran 23 times for 208 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Halftime: UGA Twitter reacts to slow start vs Mississippi State

No. 13 Georgia hasn’t gotten off to a good start vs. a struggling Mississippi State team. Here is what UGA Twitter has to say.

No. 13 Georgia hasn’t gotten off to a good start vs. a struggling Mississippi State team.

The game is tied 17-17 at halftime

Mississippi State’s offense led by freshman Will Rodgers was able to chew the clock and keep new Georgia quarterback JT Daniels and company off of the field for most of the half.

The Bulldogs have 193 yards of offense and have held the ball only 11 minutes, while MSU has 229 total yards, have had the ball for 19 minutes and have connected on a couple of big plays, including a long touchdown pass late in the second quarter.

Here’s what UGA Twitter is saying after a lackluster opening half.

Quick props to freshman receiver Jermaine Burton, who has had a monster half.

I love what I’ve seen from JT Daniels so far, but Georgia coach Kirby Smart will have to change things defensively to get pressure on MSU’s Will Rodgers, or this game will go into the fourth quarter.

We cannot keep backing off and letting Mike Leach tear up a soft zone all night.

Twitter reacts to Georgia football’s lackluster win over Kentucky

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in a closer game than expected this Saturday.

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in what was quite a boring game. Both teams chewed the clock with run-dominant schemes. Kentucky seemed satisfied to take a 14-3 loss into the final minutes of the game. The Wildcats seldom ran any hurry-up offense despite trailing.

Kirby Smart and Georgia won behind a 100-yard game from Zamir White and a dominant defensive performance. Georgia’s defensive effort came at the price of several key injuries.

Quarterback Stetson Bennett and the Georgia passing game failed to pack a punch against a decent Kentucky secondary. Bennett was missing No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens, who has an upper body injury. Bennett turned the ball over twice in only 13 passing attempts. He additionally fumbled the ball on a run, but Georgia recovered it.

A performance like this will not be enough to beat the Florida Gators next week. Florida will not have much good film from the Georgia offense in the win over Kentucky as UGA ran a pretty vanilla scheme on offense.

How Georgia Twitter reacted to the win over Kentucky:

Halftime: UGA Twitter reacts to struggling Georgia offense

Georgia leads Kentucky 7-3 at the half. Here’s what UGA Twitter is saying about Georgia at halftime.

The Bulldogs lead Kentucky 7-3 at the half. Georgia opened the game great, rushing for 71 yards on the way to a rushing touchdown by quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Since then it’s been ugly. Kentucky has rushed for 82 yards on 39 carries and has held the ball for over 19 minutes on offense, highlighted by a 19-play scoring drive that took 10 minutes.

This Georgia offense has to get going for the Bulldogs to stay in the SEC East lead headed into the big matchup with Florida next week.

Check in on UGA twitter here, Bulldogs lead Alabama 24-20 at the half

No. 3 Georgia leads No. 2 Alabama 24-17 at halftime, the defense is looking aggressive early, even when having to deal with bad field position because of the Stestson Bennet turnover.

Let’s hope for some continued dominance in the third, DawgNation!
