If you have been paying attention to Michigan State Football’s recruiting efforts, you have probably notice that business has picked up considerably in the past few weeks. The Spartans now have ten recruits committed for their 2021 recruiting class, the first of Mel Tucker’s time with the team, and every player has at least been a 3-star. It looks like MSU might land the services of another 3-star recruit soon, as outside linebacker Tyler McLaurin has placed the Spartans in his final five for recruiting.

McLaurin’s final five are:

  • Michigan State
  • Michigan
  • Iowa State
  • Texas Tech
  • Nebraska

McLaurin is the No. 9 ranked player in Illinois per the 247sports composite rankings and their No. 26 ranked outside linebacker. And, in case you were wondering, he is 6-foot-2, which would make yet another player over 6-feet-tall in the class, something many fans have started to chuckle about as Tucker seems to be focused on bringing length and size into the fold.

Notre Dame Offers, Immediately Makes Cut for Michigan/Penn State/Texas Target

‘Twas a productive morning for Notre Dame football as they offered an offensive line prospect Friday morning & made his cut just hours later

Notre Dame made a scholarship offer Friday morning and were immediately included as that player announced his final eight schools a few short hours later.

Notre Dame made the cut down to 2021 offensive tackle Tristan Bounds’ final eight potential schools.  The newly offering Fighting Irish join traditional power houses Michigan, Penn State, Texas and Virginia Tech while Boston College, Vanderbilt and Virginia also made the cut.

Bounds is a 6-7, 285 pound prospect from Wallingford (Choate Rosemary Hall), Connecticut.  He ranks as the 39th best offensive tackle in the class per 247Sports, who grades Bounds as a three-star prospect.

Bounds spoke to 247 after cutting his potential schools down to eight and says two things especially stick out when considering Notre Dame.

“Notre Dame is (on the list) because of the academic tradition and also they have a program that puts offensive linemen into the NFL,” Bounds said. “I think those two things alone make Notre Dame very enticing.” Tristan Bounds to 247Sports

Bounds also says he’d like to announce his decision before the start of the season as long as he’s able to make his official visits this summer.

Of Notre Dame’s eight current commitments in the 2021 class, only Pat Coogan finds a home on the offensive line.

Tennessee offers 2022 4-star Ohio State commit

Tennessee offers 2022 4-star Ohio State commit.

Tennessee has ventured into Dayton, Ohio to offer 2022 4-star athlete C.J. Hicks, who recently committed to Ohio State.

Hicks committed to Ohio State shortly after announcing his offer from Tennessee.

A 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete, Hicks rates as the No. 15 athlete in the country according to 247Sports, and the No. 3 player in Ohio for the 2022 class.

Hicks has experience at safety, cornerback, linebacker and wide receiver at Archbishop Alter High School.

He has a diverse offer list that includes schools such as Notre Dame, Miami, West Virginia, Florida State and several others. Tennessee is just the third SEC program to offer Hicks, joining Arkansas and Texas A&M.

The Vols will have work to do in prying Hicks away from the Buckeyes, but there is still plenty of time left in his young recruiting process.

UT does not yet have a commit in the 2022 recruiting class.

Terrence Lewis commits to Tennessee

Terrence Lewis commits to Tennessee.

Tennessee’s red-hot momentum on the recruiting trail continued Thursday, as 5-star outside linebacker Terrence Lewis pledged to the Vols on his Twitter account.

Lewis is a massive addition to the 2021 recruiting class that vaunts Tennessee to the No. 3 spot in the 247Sports national rankings. Rated the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country, the No. 10 player in the country and the No. 2 player in Florida per the 247Sports Composite, he is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound linebacker at Chaminade-Madonna Prep.

Lewis checks all the boxes for an elite linebacking prospect at the high school level.

The future Vol was incredibly productive on his Florida 5A state championship team in 2019, gathering 105 tackles, 15 TFLs, nine sacks and three interceptions.

Lewis has a closing speed and burst off the edge that makes him a nightmare for quarterbacks, and has shown efficiency in stopping the run and dropping back in coverage. Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt puts heavy value in versatility in his linebackers, and Lewis certainly fits the mold.

A former Florida commit, Lewis was heavily pursued by Auburn, Alabama and Clemson. Former 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year Brian Niedermeyer is Lewis’ primary recruiter.

Lewis is the highest-rated prospect in Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class.

The Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks have made the top schools for DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, the top recruit in South Carolina.

The Georgia Bulldogs have made the top schools for defensive tackle Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. Ingram-Dawkins is a four-star recruit. 247sports rates him as the top player in the state of South Carolina.

Ingram-Dawkins is a member of the class of 2021 and plays football at Gaffney High School. Gaffney High School is one of the most dominant programs in the state of South Carolina and is home to Super Bowl champion wide receiver Sidney Rice.

Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins named his top thirteen schools ahead of the 2020 season:

Ingram-Dawkins puts UGA, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Oregon, Texas A&M, UNC, NC State, FSU, Penn State, Michigan, Auburn, and Oklahoma among his top schools.

Ingram-Dawkins has good size at 6-5, 290 pounds. He’ll help beef up one lucky college football program’s defensive front. He’s currently projected to commit to either South Carolina or Georgia. Notably, the four-star defensive tackle does not have the Clemson Tigers among his top schools.

Kirby Smart and UGA are building a strong class of 2021. The Dawgs have a defensive line commitment in Marlin Dean.

Tiyon Evans ‘is versatile, able to make defenders miss and has power to lower shoulder’

Tiyon Evans commits to Tennessee.

KNOXVILLE – Tennessee received another commitment on the recruiting trail Thursday for its 2021 class.

Tiyon Evans, a 5-foot-9 and 210-pound running back, committed to the Vols.

He is the No. 1 ranked JUCO running back from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.

Hutchinson running backs coach Greg Cross discussed what type of player Tennessee is getting with Evans.

“Tiyon is special,” Cross told Vols Wire. “If I had to describe the type of back he is, he is versatile and is able to make defenders miss and has power to lower his shoulder.”

Evans’ experience as a kick returner and his ability to showcase the use of his hands in Hutchinson’s spread passing game are areas Cross mentioned that Tennessee’s latest commit can put on display in Knoxville.

Evans totaled 538 rushing yards on 61 attempts and scored nine touchdowns in 12 contests during the 2019 season. The future Vol also recorded four receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown.

In the kick return game, Evans produced 608 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts. His longest kick return in 2019 went for 95 yards.

[jwplayer cwRwWfAA]

On Tuesday, we posted an article covering a report from Corey Evans of Rivals where he surmised that Michigan State Basketball and Tom Izzo were currently “in the lead” to land the commitment of 2021 5-star center Charles Bediako. Well, according to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, the Spartans had actually hosted Bediako for a virtual visit that very same day.

This is a huge recruiting story for Michigan State and it would be a major development if they are able to land the services of Bediako. He is currently the No. 3 center in the 2021 recruiting class according to 247sports. They also have him currently favored to commit to Alabama so this would be a pleasant surprise for the team.
