Colts vs. Cowboys: Keys to victory in Week 13

Keys to victory for the Colts against the Cowboys in prime time.

With playoff aspirations now hanging on by a thread, the Indianapolis Colts (4-7-1) will return to prime time to take on the Dallas Cowboys (8-3).

This game will feature a Dallas offense that is clicking at the right time and a Colts team that can’t seem to find any consistency. Last week’s loss to Pittsburgh showed Jeff Saturday’s squad is filled with talent, but figuring out how to use that talent is still a question mark.

However, it is clear that this team is not looking to “tank” or just lie down for the remainder of the season. They will look to stay competitive and see what they have moving forward. A statement win against Dallas would be a sign of potentially good things to come.

Here are the keys to victory against the Cowboys in Week 13:

Colts downgrade 3 injured players in Week 12

Three Colts players had their injury statuses downgraded Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts downgraded the injury statuses of three players ahead of the Monday night matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team announced Sunday.

The players included are linebacker Zaire Franklin (illness), tight end Kylen Granson (illness) and defensive end Kwity Paye (ankle).

Franklin didn’t carry an injury designation going into the weekend but was downgraded to questionable for the game.

Granson entered the weekend with a questionable tag but now has been downgraded to doubtful. The Colts will get rookie Jelani Woods back from a shoulder injury that has kept him out for two games.

Finally, Paye was downgraded from questionable to out. It was a long shot that Paye would be able to play after not practicing all week, but they held a workout for him Sunday, and it seems he still isn’t ready.

Studs and duds from Eagles 17-16 win over the Colts

Studs and duds from the Philadelphia Eagles Week 11 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday

The Philadelphia Eagles are 9-1 for the 6th time in franchise history after overcoming a ten-point fourth-quarter deficit to down the Colts 17-16.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 18-of-25 (72.0%) attempts for 190 yards, 1 TD, and a 107.1 passer rating while rushing for a team-high 86 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries.

On defense, Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh made their presence known in the middle, holding Jonathan Taylor to under 100 yards.

National reactions: Eagles move to 9-1 after comeback win over Colts

Questions about the Philadelphia Eagles trusting quarterback Jalen Hurts as a passer are some of the national reactions to the 17-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11

The Eagles matched their win total from last season with Sunday’s win over the Colts, and they’ll now work to lock down home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs.

Jalen Hurts placed himself firmly into the MVP race, going 18-25 passing for 190 yards and one touchdown through the air. Hurts led Philadelphia in rushing on the night as well, totaling 86 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

The Eagles’ defense rebounded from a disastrous performance on Monday night football, holding Indianapolis to three field goals after they jumped out to an early 7-0 lead behind the strong running of Jonathan Taylor.

The Philadelphia Eagles are 9-1 for the 6th time in franchise history ( 1949, 1960, 1980, 2004, and 2017) after overcoming a ten-point fourth-quarter deficit to down the Colts 17-16.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 18-of-25 (72.0%) attempts for 190 yards, 1 TD, and a 107.1 passer rating while rushing for a team-high 86 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries.

Here’s everything we know from the Week 11 matchup.

What the Colts said after Week 11 loss to Eagles

‘We beat ourselves at the end of the day’ – Colts DE Yannick Ngakoue on the loss Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts (4-6-1) pushed themselves further out of a potential playoff run after a late fourth-quarter collapse resulted in a 17-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The defense was stout for the majority of the game, allowing just 314 total yards and 17 points to one of the best offenses in football. Unfortunately, the Colts offense went back to its deplorable ways, scoring 16 points in total despite getting a touchdown on the opening drive of the game.

Here’s what the Colts had to say after the Week 11 loss:

Colts’ player of the game vs. Eagles: DE Yannick Ngakoue

Colts DE Yannick Ngakoue is the player of the game from the Week 11 loss against the Eagles.

They almost had it.

Jeff Saturday almost did the impossible in beating the one-loss Philadelphia Eagles at home in a tough, hard-fought battle. The 17-16 final shows that this team’s ability to stay in games can help them going forward, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Gus Bradley’s unit was led by defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.

The defensive end finished with 1.5 sacks on the day, combining with Zaire Franklin on the second. One of his sacks was a strip sack against Jalen Hurts.

He also added three total tackles to his performance which helped stop Philadelphia’s elite rushing attack.

Ngakoue continues to be a force on the edge and a leader for the relatively young defensive unit. Hopefully, he can keep going on that path as the Colts try to finish the season on a high note.

Championship teams define themselves when adversity hits, and the Eagles took another step towards sharpening their iron, overcoming a ten-point deficit to pull out a win in Indianapolis.

Jalen Hurts was an efficient 18-25 passing for 190 yards and one touchdown. As a rusher, Hurts led Philadelphia with 16 carries for 86 yards and a seven-yard touchdown late in regulation that tied things up with 1:20 remaining.

DeVonta Smith (6-78) and A.J. Brown (5-60) paced the Eagles’ pass catchers with Dallas Goedert out with an injured shoulder.

On defense, Philadelphia allowed Jonathan Taylor to accumulate 84 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown.

Still, Taylor only had 20 yards on 11 carries in the second half as the Eagles’ defense adjusted and buckled down.

Philadelphia will head home before starting preparation for a huge Week 12 matchup against the Packers in primetime.
