POLL: Grade Cardinals’ signing of WR Zach Pascal

The former Colts and Eagles receiver joins the Cardinals on a two-year contract worth $4.5 million. Grade the signing in our poll.

The Arizona Cardinals have not done a whole lot in free agency this offseason but they did sign former Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Zach Pascal to a two-yar contract.

The deal is worth a total of $4.5 million and has $1.5 million guaranteed.

Pascal played mostly special teams last season but had 15 receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown. However, he did have five touchdowns and over 600 yards for the Colts in 2019 and 2020.

Ad 6-foot-2, he adds length to the receive room that others don’t have, and he is a solid run blocker as well.

He is a fierce competitor.

What do you think of the signing?

Contract details for new Cardinals WR Zach Pascal

His contract is two years, $4.5 million and has $1.5 million guaranteed.

The Arizona Cardinals inked former Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Zach Pascal to a two-year contract. We have those details from Over the Cap.

It is a two-year contract worth $4.5 million.

He gets a $1.5 million signing bonus, which accounts for all the guaranteed money in the deal.

His 2023 salary will be the league minimum of $1.08 million, giving him a cap hit of $1.83 million this year.

His salary goes up to $1.92 million in 2024. His cap hit will be $2.67 million.

Pascal is expected to be receiver depth and play special teams. However, he does have a pair of seasons with more than 600 receiving yards, so there is some upside.

WR Zach Pascal is insane competitor

He would compete with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni at anything, even drinking water.

The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly added former Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts receiver Zach Pascal on a two-year contract as a free agent.

Pascal knows head coach Jonathan Gannon, who was in Philly and Indy while Pascal played there.

Gannon wanted fierce competitors on his team. He is getting one in Pascal.

After Pascal signed with the Eagles last season, he described the relationship he had with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. The two would compete at everything.

“It was quick,” Pascal said last year via NBC Sports. “I’m a competitor and Nick is a competitor. We could sit right here, both look at that water bottle, and it’s like, ‘I’m going to drink this first, no you’re not, let’s do it.'”

He and Sirianni would compete on the basketball court at the Eagles’ team facility.

“You see this hoop right here? See this hoop right here? Me and Nick love to shoot,” he said. “We’re always shooting it out. He’s a good shooter, I’m a good shooter, so we battle it out.”

Gannon wants this sort of mentality in the locker room with the players. He wants competitors.

Pascal played mostly on special teams last season. But he had over 600 receiving yards and five touchdowns in both 2019 and 2020 for the Colts.

At minimum, the Cardinals get a Trent Sherfield-type of special teams player. At best, he can be a regular part of the offense.

They will always be able to count on him trying to compete with someone else.

Cardinals agree to a 2-year deal with Eagles free agent WR Zach Pascal

Looking to keep some sense of familiarity, Zach Pascal is following Jonathan Gannon to Arizona and will sign a 2-year deal with the Cardinals

The Eagles need to find another tone-setter at wide receiver after Zach Pascal followed Jonathan Gannon to Arizona.

The veteran wide receiver is signing a two-year deal with the Cardinals.

The former Colts wide receiver signed a one-year deal to reunite with Nick Sirianni, and he was solid as a run blocker while logging 15 catches for 150 yards and one touchdown in 17 games.

Philadelphia will now look to upgrade that fourth wide receiver spot with only Britain Covey, Greg Ward, Devon Allen, and Tyrie Cleveland behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Former Eagles WR Zach Pascal to sign 2-year deal with Cardinals

The Cardinals add former Colts and Eagles receiver Zach Pascal in free agency. He had 15 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown in 2022.

The Arizona Cardinals are adding help to the wide receiver room. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with receiver Zach Pascal.

Pascal played four seasons for the Indianapolis Colts after entering the league as an undrafted rookie in 2018 out of Old Dominion. He played last season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon was the defensive coordinator last season for the Eagles and was a defensive backs coach for the first three years of Pascal’s career.

He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. For the Eagles last season, he played in all 17 games. He had 15 receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown. He also played 246 special teams snaps.

His most productive season as a pass catcher was in 2020. He had 44 receptions for 629 yards and five touchdowns.

He would give the Cardinals some length and size at receiver. If DeAndre Hopkins is traded, their two top options would be Marquise Brown and Rondale Moore, both of whom are 5-foot-10 and under.

Pascal would figure to be WR4 right now and could be in the regular playing rotation if Hopkins is traded.

4 under-the-radar WRs the Panthers could still sign

The Panthers can’t stop at Adam Thielen. Here are four under-the-radar wide receivers Carolina can still grab in free agency.

Even before they shipped off DJ Moore in their trade for 2023’s No. 1 overall pick, the Carolina Panthers had to have been in the market for some wide receivers.

And that seems to be the case, as they—in some degree or another—have been linked to a few of the market’s top names. Heck, they just signed one in Adam Thielen.

Nonetheless, there’s still more work to be done at the position and, obviously, the possibility that they’ll miss out on the likes of Mecole Hardman, DJ Chark and Odell Beckham Jr. So, if they do, here are four under-the-radar free agents they could still turn to.

6 free-agent WRs the Colts could consider in 2023

Here’s a look at six free-agent WRs the Colts should look at in 2023.

The Indianapolis Colts are less than a week away from the start of free agency where they may be in the market to add some depth to the wide receiver position.

We shouldn’t expect the Colts to go on a crazy spending spree for a few reasons.

One, that’s simply not the style of general manager Chris Ballard. Two, they should have some decent salary-cap space after making some moves, but the position still isn’t going to be at the top of the priority list. Three, the free agency class at wide receiver is relatively weak overall, and it’s likely the biggest names will be overpaid.

The Colts have two wide receivers currently set to hit the market in Parris Campbell and Ashton Dulin. They won’t be included in this piece because we are going to focus solely on outside options.

With Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce set to reprise their roles on the boundary in 2023, the Colts are likely looking for some depth behind them and candidates to play in the slot. So that’s where our focus will be.

We already took a look at four free-agent quarterbacks the Colts should consider.

Now, it’s time to take a look at the wide receivers:

6 free agents who could follow Shane Steichen to Colts

Taking a look at six free agents who could follow Shane Steichen to the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts are roughly three weeks away from the start of NFL free agency, which officially kicks off as the new league year begins March 15.

There are several free agents the Colts will be keeping an eye on even if they aren’t the most active team when it comes to making additions through that market.

As Shane Steichen takes over as the new head coach, there may be some pending free agents from the Philadelphia Eagles who may want to join their former offensive coordinator.

Here’s a look at six free agents who could follow Steichen to the Colts this offseason:

4 Eagles free agents the Saints should be watching in Super Bowl LVII

Running back Boston Scott is one of several Philadelphia Eagles free agents the New Orleans Saints should be watching in Super Bowl LVII:

It must be nice to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Their team is competing in Super Bowl LVII while holding onto a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL draft thanks to last year’s trade with the New Orleans Saints, which will help keep the Eagles right in the mix next season. But the free agency signing period rolls through the league first, and Philadelphia could have a hard time holding onto all of their players on expiring contracts.

Could some of them end up in New Orleans? The Saints aren’t likely to be big players in free agency given their precarious salary cap situation, but they can get creative and make some moves if a couple of things break their way. Here are four pending Eagles free agents they should be scouting in the Super Bowl:

National reaction to Eagles earning Super Bowl berth after a 31-7 win over 49ers
