Texas A&M offensive lineman PJ Williams charged with marijuana possession

Texas A&M offensive lineman PJ Williams charged with marijuana possession

Texas A&M freshman Offensive lineman PJ Williams was reportedly arrested on Saturday, November 19th for possession of marijuana, for the amount of four to five ounces.

Williams was booked into the Brazos County Jail on Sunday, November 20, and has since remained there as the bond was set to $5,000 according to the Brazos County records. As of right now, this is all the information we have, while more details are sure to come out later this week.

PJ Williams has not had the warmest welcome so far in his first season with the Aggies, as he has been suspended along with three other players (Chris Marshall, Anthony Lucas, and Denver Harris) since the game South Carolina game on October 22nd.

As one of the top recruits out of Dickinson High School in Dickinson, Texas, Williams was ranked as the 8th offensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class and was 2022 Under Armour All-American.

Jimbo Fisher clears the air during weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference

Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher clears up some lingering rumors regarding the program during Tuesday’s weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference

The Aggies have dealt with more adversity within their program than any FBS team during the 2022 college football season, and no, I’m not overexaggerating.

Just as a healthy reminder, news broke on Monday night from TexAgs owner Billy Liucci that three freshman members of the roster including wide receiver Chris Marshall, cornerback Denver Harris, and offensive lineman PJ Williams were suspended indefinitely after an incident in the locker room after the team’s Week 8 road loss to South Carolina combined with redshirt freshman running back LJ Johnson’s surprising no show during Monday’s practice.

Let me remind you that these are 18 to 19-year-old young men that made a minor mistake, while Fisher just wants the best for their futures. Rule of thumb, it’s safe to say that when Liucci confirms internal issues concerning Texas A&M, we’re all ears.

On Tuesday during the weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference, head coach Jimbo Fisher quickly cleared a couple of things up as soon as he had the chance, first stating that LJ Johnson is in fact still with the team despite the unfounded rumors making their way through social media, but declined to comment when asked about the three player suspensions, coming as no surprise due to the internal nature of the situation.

Lastly, when asked about quarterback Haynes King’s status going into the Aggie’s Week 9 home matchup with Ole Miss, Fisher states that “he’s doing very well”, and will be available against the Rebels this Saturday night.

Report: Multiple Aggie football players suspended indefinitely

Three players and a possible fourth have been suspended according to recent reports that surfaced on Monday night

On Monday night, news broke that three Texas A&M players have been suspended by head coach Jimbo Fisher for reasons unknown as of now, as TexAgs owner Billy Liucci shared the news via Twitter after breaking the news through the TexAgs message boards.

As of right now, the suspended players are listed as freshman offensive tackle PJ Williams, freshman cornerback Denver Harris, and freshman wide receiver Chris Marshall, as the latter players listed have either started or contributed at a high level for the team in almost every game this season. a fourth player, redshirt freshman running back LJ Johnson did not show up to practice on Monday afternoon, yet his possible suspension is simply based on speculation.

This will be the second suspension for Chris Marshall and Denver Harris this season, as both sat out of the Miami game in Week 3 due to a “violation of team rules”, on the night before the game. Heading into Texas A&M’s Week 9 home matchup against 15th-ranked Ole Miss, the struggling Aggies will yet again be shorted-handed on both sides of the ball.

Texas A&M Player Profile: Offensive lineman, PJ Williams

Texas A&M Player Profile: Offensive lineman, PJ Williams

Going into the 2022 football season, Aggies Wire will be looking at each scholarship player listed on the Texas A&M roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Jimbo Fisher this season.

PJ Williams is entering his freshman season as a swing reserve option at both tackle positions on the offensive line, coming in as a member of the elite 2022 recruiting class for the Aggies. At Dickinson High School in Dickinson, Texas, Williams was a multi-sport athlete, excelling in both football and basketball.

On the gridiron, Williams played the left tackle position primarily, and was named a Texas District 24-6A first-team selection during his 2019 sophomore season which was his first season as a starter, and earned the same selection during his 2020 junior season, and 2021 senior season.

As a basketball player, Williams averaged 9.1 rebounds per game, 7.1 rebounds per game, 1.9 blocks per game, and 1.5 steals per game during his 2020 junior season, and 12.8 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, 1.3 blocks per game, and 1.9 steals per game during his 2021 senior season.

As we have seen in the past while evaluating offensive line prospects who are multi-sport athletes, especially offensive tackles, the speed, athleticism, length, and general quickness usually translate very well on the field, and vice versa. As flashy as the 2022 recruiting class is from a skill position standpoint, PJ Williams is up there as one of the more exciting players due to his potential, and will be hard to miss during summer and fall camp.

Preseason Player Profile

Hometown: Dickinson, Texas

Height: 6-4

Weight: 265lbs

247Sports Composite Ranking

Class of 2022: 4-Star player ranking, 11th ranked player in Texas, 8th ranked offensive tackle prospect in the country

Depth Chart Overview

PJ Williams is currently projected as a backup offensive tackle in Texas A&M’s pro-style offense, led by head coach, Jimbo Fisher, and offensive coordinator, Darrell Dickey. Heading into summer camp, Williams is listed as the third-string right tackle, backing up Luke Williams (Redshirt Freshman), and starting right tackle, Reuben Fatheree (Sophomore).

From a scouting perspective, Williams’s overall frame and wingspan, standing at 6-4, 265lbs, is what sets him apart from other offensive line prospects. With plenty of room to add solid weight during his first couple of seasons with Texas A&M’s highly regarded nutrition program, he should carry enough mass paired with his athleticism to compete at a high level in the SEC for years to come.

Williams’s strength is in pass protection, who on film is very quick off the snap, showing excellent bend in his knees and hips, and a great first punch, while his lateral quickness, balance, and impressive footwork are highly evident, giving his quarterback plenty of time to go through his reads. As a run blocker, Williams may not be the heaviest lineman, but shows great power and finesse while reaching the second level and finishing his blocks. And don’t just take my word for it, here’s what Jimbo Fisher had to say about the Williams in late January, “One of the most athletically gifted athletes I’ve ever had. He has an incredible work ethic and is a very respectful young man. Elite lineman in the making.”

With an extremely high ceiling as a pass protector at left tackle, his most realistic projected position, Williams has time to work out some technical kinks and hone his athletic prowess while being coached by offensive line coach, Steve Addazio.

The New Orleans Saints executed a master class in chaos in Sunday’s 36-27 divisional win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The nostalgic atmosphere invigorated by Mark Ingram’s return in full roar by the time he finished leading the Who Dat chant. The press box was quite literally shaking by the game-sealing interception, and the energy electric. Hear it yourselves in the video embedded above.

That uproar is well-deserved for a team that’s done nothing but defy expectations in their ascent to a 5-2 record. The Saints continue to balk in the face of adversity and, arguably, thrive in it.

New Orleans has already faced both teams in last year’s NFC title game, who combine for a 13-3 record, whose quarterbacks hold 8 MVP awards — and they defeated both the Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers. This upset was led by a third-string quarterback with no backup behind him on the active roster. And by a defense that’s unquestionably Super Bowl-caliber.

The adversity that shaped the rebirth of the team in 2006 has remained an invaluable constant (and arguably their best competitive edge). Several season trends finally paint a clearer picture through Week 8. Here’s what stuck out on both sides of the ball:

4 key matchups to watch as Saints play Falcons on Thanksgiving

Matchups like Marshon Lattimore versus Julio Jones will define Thanksgiving’s game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

The New Orleans Saints are travelling to play the Atlanta Falcons on Thanksgiving night, headlining the NFL’s slate of prime time games. After a  devastating 26-9 loss to the Falcons back in Week 10, the Saints are looking for revenge against their NFC South rival on Thanksgiving. A Saints victory would clinch the team’s third consecutive NFC South division title and mathematically eliminate the Falcons from playoff contention.

There will be several key matchups to watch this Thanksgiving; we’ve highlighted four of them. If New Orleans can exploit and win these one-on-one battles, the Saints should be the team eating turkey legs at the end.

Falcons WR Julio Jones vs. Saints CB Marshon Lattimore

Let’s start this with a caveat, by noting that this matchup only occurs if both players are healthy enough to go on Thanksgiving. Lattimore has missed his last two games with a hamstring injury, and Jones will be a game-time decision with a shoulder issue.

Fortunately for the Saints, Lattimore has been lockdown in coverage this season — when healthy. The star cornerback held Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans to zero receptions and as many yards back in Week 5., and matched up well against Jones in Week 9 when Atlanta visited the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. During that matchup, Jones was held to three receptions and 79 yards. If Lattimore’s hamstring holds up, then Jones should have a tough time being a producing for the Falcons receiving corps on Thursday.
