Former Browns tight end Miller Forristall signs futures deal with Saints

The former Browns tight end is moving on.

There won’t likely be a third season in Cleveland for tight end Miller Forristall after he signed a futures deal with the Saints. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Titans in 2021 Forristall spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns appearing in six games with one target and no receptions.

Forristall was a solid blocker that got elevated from the practice squad for a few games this season but in the end, spent most of his playing time on special teams. It seems likely that the team will be looking to add a couple of depth pieces at the position this offseason.

Browns make flurry of roster moves on heels of matchup vs. Dolphins

The Browns have made a flurry of roster moves on the eve of their matchup with the Miami Dolphins

The Cleveland Browns are set to take on the Miami Dolphins tomorrow, looking to continue to climb back from a 2-5 start. After a Halloween win over the Cincinnati Bengals, they now look to make it two in a row against the Dolphins in South Beach.

On the eve of this matchup, however, the Browns have made a slew of roster moves. One player has been waived, one activated from Injured Reserve, another signed to the active roster from the practice squad, and two elevated from the practice squad for the matchup.

We take a look at each of these moves and address their significance.

Browns sign Thomas Graham Jr., Herb Miller to active roster, elevate 2 more vs. Bengals

The Browns have signed Thomas Graham Jr. and Herb Miller to their active roster, elevating two more for their game vs. the Bengals.

The Cleveland Browns opened up two roster spots this week when they placed both linebacker Jacob Phillips and offensive lineman Joe Haeg on Injured Reserve. With just four hours until game time, the Browns have filled those spots by signing cornerbacks Thomas Graham Jr. and Herb Miller to the active roster.

Additionally, the Browns have elevated linebacker Dakota Allen and tight end, Miller Forristall, to their gameday roster against the Cincinnati Bengals tonight. With the injury to David Njoku, and with Pharaoh Brown just emerging from the concussion protocol, the elevation of Forristall makes a great deal of sense. With Phillips likely out for the season, adding another gameday linebacker to the mix in Allen also adds up.

The Browns will look to end their four-game skid with a home win over the Bengals tonight.

Browns waive TE Miller Forristall, release QB Josh Rosen from practice squad

The Browns have cleared up a roster spot by waiving tight end Miller Forristall. Quarterback Josh Rosen has also been released from the PS.

After trading for linebacker Deion Jones, the Cleveland Browns had to clear a roster spot on their 53-man roster. They have done so by waiving tight end Miller Forristall.

This writing was on the wall after the Browns signed Pharaoh Brown last week, and after Forristall did not play a single offensive snap in the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Additionally, the Browns have released former first round quarterback Josh Rosen from their practice squad. With Deshaun Watson returning to the building, perhaps the Browns felt they only needed four quarterbacks in meeting rooms. They also tried out former Dallas Cowboy Ben DiNucci las week as well.

Browns announce Demetric Felton, 7 other inactives vs. Chargers

The Browns have announced eight inactives, including Demetric Felton, against the Los Angeles Chargers

As the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers get set for battle, the list of inactives has dropped. As the Browns announce eight inactives, running back/wide receiver Demetric Felton is among them. After elevating Chester Rogers from the practice squad again this week to return kicks, Felton’s role has been reduced to ashes.

Rogers can be elevated one more time from the practice squad before the Browns have to sign him to the active roster to have him dress on Sundays. One has to wonder if Felton’s roster spot could be on shaky ground in a week or two.

The other inactives listed for today’s game are quarterback Kellen Mond, wide receiver Michael Woods II, safety Richard LeCounte, offensive linemen Joe Haeg and Chris Hubbard, and tight end Miller Forristall.

Browns sign TE Miller Forristall from practice squad to active roster

The #Browns have signed tight end Miller Forristall to the active roster.

After Jesse James landed on Injured Reserve after the loss to the New York Jets, a move at tight end felt imminent. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns elevated tight end Miller Forristall from the practice squad on a short week. Now, as they prepare for the Atlanta Falcons, the Browns have signed Forristall to the active roster rather than just elevating him for the week.

A move on the 53-man roster felt like it was coming down the pipes as the Browns tried out six players yesterday. Now that a spot on the practice squad has been cleared up, one of those six players may just find its way onto that roster.

They have also elevated both Roderick Perry and Curtis Weaver from the practice squad for this matchup.

Browns elevating TE Miller Forristall, WR Chester Rogers from Practice Squad vs. Steelers

The Browns are elevating Miller Forristall and Chester Rogers to the active roster for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns are activating tight end Miller Forristall and wide receiver Chester Rogers from the Practice Squad for their Thursday night showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After placing tight end Jesse James on Injured Reserve this week, the elevation of Forristall felt inevitable on a short week.

Rogers, however, signed after the Week 1 mistakes of Demetric Felton as a punt returner, makes his first appearance with the team. There is a reasonable chance Rogers could find himself back deep in the return game tonight as special teams continue to be a weak spot of the team.

The countdown to kickoff begins.

5 Alabama players who could see a bigger role after the open week

With the open week, Alabama will now look ahead to the LSU matchup. It might be time for Saban to do some rearranging or promoting.

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are 6-0 and remain the only undefeated teamin the SEC. With an open week, they now have time to reflect on the first half of the season and tweaksome aspects of their game.

Losing wide receiver Jaylen Waddle on the opening kickoff of the Week 5 contest against Tennessee sent a shock wave across all of college football, as the junior receiver was one of the most electric players in the game.

Along with other injuries sustained thus far, comes the possibility of younger guys seeing bigger roles on the team. Saban knows the Crimson Tide has a target on their back, and must change things up every now and then in order to remain unpredictable.

Here are five Alabama players who could see a bigger role after the open week.

WATCH: Mac Jones connects with TE Miller Forristall for 3 yard TD pass

A 3-yard TD pass from Mac Jones to Miller Forristall to put the Crimson Tide back on top, 35-28 with 10 minutes to go in the third quarter.

After a shaky first half, the Alabama Crimson Tide has emerged from halftime a more determined team, on offense at least.

Within the first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter, Alabama has found its way into the endzone twice.

The first touchdown of the second half was an impressive 41-yard touchdown run by Najee Harris.

This time, it was a 3-yard touchdown pass from Mac Jones to Miller Forristall to put the Crimson Tide back on top, 35-28 with 10 minutes to go in the third quarter.

Forristall, who is a 5th-year senior, has continued to make his presence known this season.

In this game alone, he has recorded 2 receptions for 16 yards and 1 touchdown.
