Browns move on from OL Drew Forbes after failed physical

Cleveland has moved on from Forbes after drafting him in 2019

The players are back in Berea. The Cleveland Browns kicked off the first day of offseason conditioning on Monday. On the same day, the Browns waived versatile offensive lineman Drew Forbes after he failed his physical. Forbes has been with the Browns after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft.

Forbes spent some time in 2022 with the Detroit Lions following John Dorsey who was the Browns general manager that drafted him. He opted out of the 2020 season during the COVID year when the Browns won 11 games.

During his time in the NFL, he played in 13 games, but the team kept him around despite injuries and struggled to find the field. But his ability to play both inside and outside could lead to him finding a home for training camp.

Next up for the Cleveland Browns is the 2024 NFL draft, which kicks off next week in Detroit as the offseason rages on.

Browns make more moves at offensive guard after cutting Michael Dunn

The Browns have made plenty of moves at guard today

After cutting guard Michael Dunn, the Cleveland Browns have made roster moves with two other guards as well. They have placed Drew Forbes on the non-football injury list and have terminated the contract of Wes Martin. They now have no backups on the roster at guard.

The most likely outcome to this situation is that the Browns have promised Michael Dunn a newer deal, allow themselves to clear a roster spot to place an injured player on Injured Reserve, then will inevitably re-sign him.

They could, however, look for another reserve guard as Dunn would still be the only one on the roster.

Browns release 6 inactive, 2 doubtful players against the Chiefs

The Browns have released their inactives list heading into their preseason finale matchup against the Chiefs.

The Cleveland Browns are now just hours away from their preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs. This is the last opportunity for a handful of players to make their mark to show they deserve a spot on the final 53-man roster. While running back Jerome Ford is not among those fighting for a roster spot, he is among those not playing in this one.

All-in-all, the Browns announced six would not play and two others are doubtful in this matchup. Here is the full injury report released by the Browns.

Another injury strikes; OG Drew Forbes carted off with back injury

Another player exits with an injury.

First, it was the young defensive ends, Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas, then it was running back Jerome Ford, and now reserve offensive lineman Drew Forbes has left practice on the cart after suffering a back injury. The Cleveland Browns have suffered a great deal of bad injury luck over the last week.

Forbes was drafted by the Browns in 2019, was cut last year but returned after he was waived by the Detroit Lions as well. We will continue to update you as more information comes in.

Browns Injury Report: Ethan Pocic misses practice, joins Jack Conklin, Denzel Ward

Ethan Pocic joins the list of starters out of practice on Thursday

The Cleveland Browns have been without cornerback Denzel Ward and offensive tackle Jack Conklin all week after getting hurt in the 24-10 win against the Washington Commanders. Now as they look to close their season out on a high note against the Pittsburgh Steelers, another starting offensive lineman has joined the newly-extended Conklin on the sideline as center Ethan Pocic has missed Thursday’s practice with an illness.

All-in-all, six players missed practice while two were limited for the Browns on Thursday. Here is the full list of players who appeared on the injury report for the Browns as they prepare to take on the Steelers in this Week 18 showdown.

Browns announce 7 inactives including rookie DE Isaiah Thomas

The Browns and Bills have announced their inactives for today’s game. One surprise, however, is rookie defensive end Isaiah Thomas.

As the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills near closer to game time, they have each announced their inactives list for the day. The Bills will be without multiple starters and first round cornerback Kaiir Elam, while the Browns look as healthy as they have been all season.

None of the Browns’ inactives are a surprise except for seventh round rookie defensive end Isaiah Thomas, who has been solid in his rotational role this season. With the return of Chase Winovich from Injured Reserve, however, it looks as though the Browns are opting to give his snaps to the veteran.

The other names who will not suit up for the Browns include quarterback Kellen Mond, hybrid player Demetric Felton, cornerback Greg Newsome, safety D’Anthony Bell, guard Drew Forbes, and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey.

Browns announce Demetric Felton, 7 other inactives vs. Chargers

The Browns have announced eight inactives, including Demetric Felton, against the Los Angeles Chargers

As the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Chargers get set for battle, the list of inactives has dropped. As the Browns announce eight inactives, running back/wide receiver Demetric Felton is among them. After elevating Chester Rogers from the practice squad again this week to return kicks, Felton’s role has been reduced to ashes.

Rogers can be elevated one more time from the practice squad before the Browns have to sign him to the active roster to have him dress on Sundays. One has to wonder if Felton’s roster spot could be on shaky ground in a week or two.

The other inactives listed for today’s game are quarterback Kellen Mond, wide receiver Michael Woods II, safety Richard LeCounte, offensive linemen Joe Haeg and Chris Hubbard, and tight end Miller Forristall.

Browns claim OL Drew Forbes back off waivers from the Lions

Forbes was a Lions waiver claim from the Browns a month ago

What’s old is new again for Drew Forbes. The offensive lineman is back in Cleveland after being claimed off waivers from the Detroit Lions.

Detroit dumped Forbes on Saturday to clear roster space for new starting left guard Dan Skipper, who was signed off the practice squad. Forbes had been a healthy scratch even while the Lions were dealing with myriad offensive line injuries.

The Lions claimed Forbes off waivers from the Browns in September. Forbes was originally a sixth-round pick by Cleveland in the 2019 NFL draft. Injuries and an opt-out season in 2020 have kept Forbes very limited in his NFL experience.

Browns bring back OL Drew Forbes, waive S Richard LeCounte III

Andrew Berry has finally cut one of his own draft picks as the Browns have waived Richard LeCounte III to bring back Drew Forbes.

He finally did it. For the first time general manager Andrew Berry has cut one of his own draft picks. The Cleveland Browns are bringing back offensive lineman Drew Forbes via a waiver claim, waiving second-year safety Richard LeCounte III to make room.

LeCounte III was in the doghouse last season with the Browns, and has not seen the field much at all in a little over a year with the team. With the emergence of undrafted free agent rookie D’Anthony Bell, LeCounte III remained the odd man out in the secondary. Bell out-snapped LeCounte III on special teams against the Atlanta Falcons, and that was likely the difference.

The bottom of the roster continues to churn for the Browns.

Lions inactive players vs. Vikings in Week 3

The Detroit Lions inactive player list vs the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 doesn’t include any of the players who were questionable

The Detroit Lions have set their active gameday roster for the Week 3 matchup in Minnesota against the Vikings. Detroit head coach Dan Campbell declared several players inactive for the game.

With two players already ruled out with injuries, it made some of the selections easier. DL John Cominsky (wrist) and LG Jonah Jackson (finger) were declared out with their injuries on Friday.

Of the four players who were listed as questionable, all wound up being active. Getting Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow back in the lineup is a nice boon for the battered interior offensive line. Dan Skipper, elevated from the practice squad on Saturday, will make his second straight start at left guard.

The inactives:

DL John Cominsky

OL Drew Forbes

OL Jonah Jackson

CB Chase Lucas

S Ifeatu Melifonwu

TE James Mitchell

DT Demetrius Taylor
