Everyone Tom Brady has thrown an NFL touchdown pass to

One of Notre Dame’s finest just became No. 98. See the other 97 here!

During the last weekend of the 2022 NFL regular season, [autotag]Tom Brady[/autotag] connected with tight end [autotag]Kyle Rudolph[/autotag] for a touchdown to give the Buccaneers an early lead over the Falcons.  For Rudolph, it was his first touchdown of the year, first ever from Brady to him, and 50th career scoring haul.

For Brady, it was the 98th different player he’s ever thrown a touchdown pass to in an NFL game.  Rudolph is one of four former Notre Dame players to catch a touchdown pass from Brady in the NFL, something that had happened for a former Irish player just once since 2005.

So who all has Brady connected with for touchdowns in the NFL?  Of his 649 career regular season touchdown passes, here are the 96 (plus two in the post-season only) different recipients, starting with Rudolph who just became the latest member.

The number in parentheses is how many touchdown passes Brady has thrown to each player in their respective careers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to finish their regular-season finale without one of their veteran tight ends.

Kyle Rudolph is dealing with a knee injury, and will miss the rest of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Rudolph hauled in his 50th career touchdown pass earlier in the game, but he’ll finish his day on the bench.

WATCH: Tom Brady gives Kyle Rudolph his 50th career TD reception

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an early lead over the Atlanta Falcons, and Kyle Rudolph has a career milestone

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense is picking up where they left off last week, finding the end zone on their opening drive Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Tom Brady finished off the impressive first possession with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph.

That’s the 50th touchdown catch of Rudolph’s career, and the Bucs have a 7-0 lead early over their NFC South rivals.

Notre Dame’s all-time tight end touchdown reception leaders

Mayer is the king of this list.

If there was any doubt before, you can vanquish it away. [autotag]Michael Mayer[/autotag] is the greatest Notre Dame tight end who ever lived. Heading into Notre Dame’s 35-14 upset win over Clemson, he already had the program records for receptions and receiving yards by a tight end. The only thing left for him to grab sole possession of was receiving touchdowns for a tight end, and he did that on this 17-yard reception from [autotag]Drew Pyne[/autotag]:

We can celebrate Mayer all we want, but let’s not forget all the Irish tight ends before him who gave him something to shoot for. It’s important to know that Mayer breaking all of these records does not diminish their places in program history. Notre Dame is built upon tradition as much as any other prominent program, and the Irish always will have a special place for them.

In the spirit of that sentiment, here are the all-time program leaders in touchdown receptions by a tight end:

Notre Dame football: All-time tight end receiving yard leaders

It’s not a matter of if but when for Baby Gronk at this point. See how close he is to setting another Notre Dame record…

Few college football programs can lay claim to producing top-level tight end talent quite like Notre Dame.  Dave Casper, Ken MacAfee, Tyler Eifert, and Kyle Rudolph are just a few of the best to have played the position for the Irish before moving on to NFL careers.

As we sit in the middle of the 2022 season it’s not crazy to think we’re all watching the best of the bunch right now in junior Michael Mayer.  Mayer set the program record for career receptions by a tight end in Notre Dame’s win over BYU in October and will only expand on that.

He’s not at the top of the all-time receiving yardage list by a tight end but that should be coming in a matter of weeks.  Here are the top-ten receiving yardage leaders in Notre Dame football history (through Oct. 10, 2022).

Look for the players, not the plays.

It’s an incredibly easy concept but one that gets away from even the best of football coaches in the heat of the moment.  Your team is trailing late and you need a score desperately.  How many coaches go to the back of the playbook to find something crazy to go with in hopes of getting that score?

“Look for the players, not plays” is a saying that’s been around football for a long time and how many times did we hear Drew Brees say that during Notre Dame games last fall – specifically the early season ones?

That was the case Friday night in Ohio as Lakota West was trailing traditional powerhouse St. Xavier 13-9 with under 30 seconds to play.  Lakota had the ball deep in St. Xavier territory on first down and instead of doing something crazily creative, they decided to get the ball in the hands of [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag], who recently committed to Notre Dame.

A well-defended play and the star just makes a play.  This game really isn’t as complicated as we like to make it out to be sometimes.

Also, shoutout to the folks at Lakota West for that light display and a big sorry to [autotag]Kyle Rudolph[/autotag] for his high school’s tough loss.

WATCH: Kyle Rudolph stretches out for TD catch during Bucs practice

Watch Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Kyle Rudolph reel in a touchdown catch during Wednesday’s training camp practice

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers know there’s no way to truly replace a legend like Rob Gronkowski, but they’re hoping veteran Kyle Rudolph can at least come somewhere close.

Rudolph showed off his red-zone skills during Wednesday’s training camp practice, stretching out to snag a touchdown pass from Blaine Gabbert.

Rudolph will team up with fellow veteran Cameron Brate, as well as rookie fourth-round pick Cade Otton, to try and help fill the massive void left behind by Gronk’s retirement.

Fantasy football training camp roundup: July 24-28

A spin around all of the fantasy football buzz as training camps get underway.

Now that all teams have reported to training camps across the NFL, here’s a spin around the league for a look at the most notable fantasy football news as of Thursday, July 28.

Julio Jones, Kyle Rudolph chasing elusive championship with Bucs

11 years after they were high draft picks in the same class, two Pro Bowlers are teaming up with Tom Brady to chase their first ring

Wherever Tom Brady goes, championships follow.

Such was the case in 2020, when Brady helped lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory in his first season with the team, after winning six Lombardi Trophies in 20 seasons with the New England Patriots.

Back with the Bucs for a third season, Brady is still attracting some of the top veterans on the free agent market who are still chasing the first ring of their pro careers.

Julio Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who signed a one-year deal with the Bucs on Wednesday, joins Brady after spending 10 of his 11 NFL seasons with the division-rival Atlanta Falcons. One of Brady’s most iconic Super Bowl wins came at the expense of Jones’ Falcons, erasing a 28-3 deficit in the second half on the way to an overtime win.

Now, Jones makes it clear that the opportunity to play for a championship was a driving factor in his decision to join forces with Brady in Tampa Bay.

“Absolutely. It’s not a money play – it’s none of that,” Jones told the media Wednesday. “It’s just for me to come out here knowing my value and knowing what I have to offer. The Buccaneers organization is just giving me the opportunity to come here and showcase my skills and just to be a part of something new, to be a part of this team. They have everything that they need already, right? But they’ve got to put the work in each and every day. Nothing is given to you. You’ve just got to come to work every day. That’s what I bring. I’m going to work every day – that’s just who I am.”

Kyle Rudolph has yet to make it to a Super Bowl, coming closest in 2017 with a loss in the NFC title game to the Philadelphia Eagles team that would beat Brady and the Pats in the Super Bowl that year.

The chance to chase that first ring while catching passes from the GOAT was just as important to Rudolph, who also signed a one-year deal in Tampa Bay this week, and will help fill the void left behind by Rob Gronkowski’s retirement.

“At this point in my career, what I was looking for in terms of a team and an organization everything is about winning,” Rudolph told the media Wednesday. “The only thing I haven’t done to this point is win a championship, and that’s all I want to do. It has been very evident the first two days here, that is the ultimate goal. Everything that we do individually, or collectively as a team or, collectively as an offense, is about reaching that ultimate goal. It has been stressed numerous times. Obviously, they came up just short last year but, you’re retooling the team each year and now we have to start from ground zero and build back up to that. You don’t just get the opportunity to be– back in the divisional round, you have to earn it. So for me coming into a culture like that, to be around that type of vibe– that was what I was looking for. Certainly, the obvious other reason was the quarterback and his play.”

The Bucs are once again among the favorites to take home the Lombardi Trophy this year, and the addition of these two Pro Bowl pass-catchers should make their odds even stronger.
