Los Angeles Clippers rookie Kobe Brown registered his first triple-double on Sunday in the G League to lead the Ontario Clippers to a win over the Memphis Hustle.

Brown produced a career-high 19 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in the 126-119 victory on the road in the first of a two-game set against the Hustle. He went 7-of-20 from the field in 30 minutes of work as the Clippers improved to 3-4 in the regular season.

Clippers’ Tyronn Lue: Kobe Brown is going to be in the rotation

Clippers rookie Kobe Brown will see a larger role moving forward after playing sparingly to start the season.

Los Angeles Clippers rookie Kobe Brown will see a larger role moving forward after playing sparingly to start the season, head coach Tyronn Lue said.

Brown made just his eighth appearance of the season on Wednesday in a 131-117 win over the Sacramento Kings. He recorded three points and two rebounds in nearly 11 minutes of work, his third game playing at least 10 minutes.

The Clippers want to get him some more playing time and believe he will be able to fill some needs playing at power forward. They like what he can bring defensively at that position and want him to give him a shot to prove himself on the court.

“Kobe is going to be in the rotation,” Lue said on Wednesday. “(We want to) give him an opportunity to see what he can bring to the table. He is a good shooter. He is good defensively and plays hard. … He is only going to get better. Once he understands how we’re playing and what we need from him on a daily basis, he is only going to get better.”

With playing time at a minimum, Brown has spent time in the G League with the Ontario Clippers. He is averaging 13.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and one steal on 33.3% shooting from 3-point range in four appearances with Ontario.

The 30th pick earned praise from teammate Paul George over the summer as the eight-time All-Star believes Brown has a lot of upside and brings good size at 6 feet, 7 inches and 250 pounds. Brown also impressed him with his work ethic and the energy he brings to the court.

After playing sparingly this season, Brown will see more minutes in the rotation moving forward. It will serve as a great opportunity to showcase himself at the next level.

Clippers rookies Kobe Brown and Jordan Miller were among the players that recently took part in a run at UCLA.

Los Angeles Clippers rookies Kobe Brown and Jordan Miller were among the players who recently took part in a run at UCLA, according to Law Murray of The Athletic.

The university often serves as a venue for workouts and scrimmages with so many players staying in the area throughout the summer months. LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, John Wall and several others have pulled up in the past to get some work in.

The Clippers were the latest team to arrange some runs at UCLA with Robert Covington, Bones Hyland, Terance Mann and KJ Martin among those that participated with Brown and Miller.

Brown, the 30th pick, debuted with the Clippers in the NBA Summer League, averaging 15.2 points, seven rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals in five games. He had his best outing on July 14 with 35 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.

The Clippers signed Miller to a two-way contract last week after drafting him 48th overall. He averaged 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals in five appearances in summer league and had his best game on July 8: 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The open run at UCLA gave the two first-year players an opportunity to hit the court with their new teammates. Their roles next season are unclear but they’re already getting the chance to build some chemistry with the team as they transition to the NBA.

Editor’s note: This story was originally published prior to the NBA Draft and has been updated.

Missouri senior forward Kobe Brown is a fascinating sleeper available in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Brown averaged 15.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 45.5 percent on 3-pointers last season. He also added 1.5 steals per game and was named First-Team All-SEC in 2023.

After the season ended, Brown immediately became focused on turning pro.

“I really didn’t take but a day or so off,” Brown told For The Win during a recent interview. “I tried to keep things going because I knew this process was going to be a very crucial part of everything. It’s been really great. A lot of discipline.”

Brown says that the offseason has included “a lot of self-improvement” and training in the months leading up to the draft on June 22. Soon, he will learn where he will begin his professional career.

Although he wasn’t included as a projected first-round pick in our latest consensus mock draft, Brown could outperform his draft position and soon provide tremendous value for whatever team selects him. His highest ranking in any mock draft is No. 35 overall, per HoopsHype.

Until then, here are four of the most important things you need to know about Brown.

Can the Boston Celtics find a Grant Williams replacement in the 2023 NBA draft?

This prospect could be a rotation player for a team like Boston who played a similar player in Grant Williams and may lose him in free agency.

Can the Boston Celtics find a Grant Williams replacement in the 2023 NBA draft? The cohost of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast, Bobby Manning, broke down 2023 prospect Kobe Brown, a senior out of Missouri who entered the draft after shooting 45% from 3-point range last season.

His feel for the game is strong with tremendous outlet passes and dimes in the halfcourt while mixing in power and finesse. The former Missouri player needs to lose some weight and may struggle to close on shooters in the NBA, but if that shot falls he will be a rotation player for a team like Boston who succeeded with a similar player, Grant Williams, and may lose him in free agency.

To hear Manning’s case for why the Celtics ought to consider picking up Brown as a potential solution to losing Williams in free agency, check out the clip embedded below.

2023 NBA Mock Draft 5.0: 58 projections after the early entry withdrawal deadline

Rookie Wire took a look at where the next draft class stands following the early entry withdrawal deadline.

The NBA pre-draft process crossed another important checkpoint on the schedule with the early entry withdrawal deadline coming and going this week.

Prospects had the opportunity to test the waters and meet with teams to gain feedback on their potential draft stock. To maintain their remaining college eligibility, they had to withdraw from consideration by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.

The deadline saw several potential second-round picks withdraw from the draft and return to school. With name, image and likeness playing a prevalent role in college basketball, players were likely swayed to stay one more year to work on their games and capitalize financially.

The 2024 draft is also projected to be weaker than in past years, which also may have played a role in some players opting against turning pro. They likely believe they will have a greater chance of being a first-round pick next year.

With several players off the board, teams can prioritize workouts and interviews with those individuals remaining in the draft. As a result, players’ stock will continue to fluctuate with less than three weeks to go until the draft.
