How have Alabama basketball transfers performed at their new schools during 2023-2024 season?

The Alabama men’s basketball team has seen several of its players transfer from the program. Roll Tide Wire takes a closer look at how each of the transfers are performing at their respective schools.

The Alabama men’s basketball program has seen its share of players enter and exit via the transfer portal. Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats has had to fill some holes on the roster in recent years. More specifically, he was tasked with finding replacements for some of the top players on the roster the past two seasons.

Last offseason, the Crimson Tide lost all but two scholarship players. Meaning that the players on the roster either declared for the NBA draft or transferred elsewhere.

Today, Roll Tide Wire takes a look at how some of the Alabama transfers have performed at their new schools during the 2023-2024 season.

Former Alabama forward Jusaun Holt transferring to Kennesaw State

Former Alabama forward Jusaun Holt will transfer to Kennesaw State to play for former Tide assistant, Antoine Pettway

Former Alabama forward Jusaun Holt announced that he was transferring to Kennesaw State on Monday afternoon. Holt spent last season playing for Mike White and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Holt began his college career in Tuscaloosa as a part of Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class. Holt was regarded as a four-star prospect out of St. Francis Day School in Roswell, Georgia.

In one season with the Crimson Tide, Holt averaged 0.7 points per game while averaging 7.0 minutes per game. After the 2021-2022 season ended, Holt entered the transfer portal and chose to transfer to Georgia.

As a sophomore, Holt averaged 3.2 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game. Although his numbers were slightly improved during his time in Athens, he still struggled to be an efficient shooter.

After the 2022-2023 season concluded, Holt re-entered the transfer portal. Now, he will be heading to Kennesaw State where he will play for former Alabama assistant coach Antoine Pettway. Pettway recruited Holt out of high school, so it is fitting that the two reunite at the college level.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what type of role Holt carves out on the Owls’ roster next season. Pettway has already landed some notable transfers through the transfer portal. On Monday, he landed a former four-star in Jusaun Holt.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama basketball program.

Former Alabama forward Jusaun Holt transferring from Georgia

Jusaun Holt has spent two seasons at the college level and has played for two teams — Alabama and Georgia. Holt is on the move again after entering the transfer portal on Wednesday morning.

Former Alabama forward Jusaun Holt announced on Wednesday morning that he was transferring from Georgia.

Holt began his college career at Alabama before transferring to Georgia last off-season.

At Alabama, Holt averaged 0.7 points per game and 1.6 rebounds per game. He played in 22 games for the Crimson Tide.

Upon transferring to Georgia, Holt played in 31 games and made 11 starts. He averaged 3.2 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.

One of the things that Holt has struggled with at the college level is his shooting percenatge. Holt has shot 27.5% from the field and 21.6% from three.

If he can improve his shot, he will be a very valuable player at his next stop. Several schools to keep a close eye on are Georgia Southern and Kennesaw State. Holt is a Georgia native and two former Alabama assistant coaches are the head coaches for those programs. Antoine Pettway is the head coach at Kennesaw State while Charlie Henry is the head coach at Georgia Southern.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama basketball program.

Georgia basketball’s Jusaun Holt enters transfer portal

Georgia basketball guard Jusaun Holt enters the transfer portal after one season with the Bulldogs

The Georgia basketball roster turnover is not over yet. The Bulldogs are likely losing a contributor from the 2022-2023 basketball team in Jusaun Holt.

Holt played in 31 games during his lone season with the Bulldogs in Athens, Georgia. He transferred to Georgia from Alabama. Now, he is looking for another home for his third season of college basketball.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Rising junior guard Jusaun Holt started 11 games for the Bulldogs last season. He averaged 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game last year.

The 6-foot-7, 190-pound guard played high school basketball at St. Francis High School in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Georgia basketball head coach Mike White and the Bulldogs have transferred in former Niagra guard Noah Thomasson, former VCU forward Jalen Deloach, former USF center Russel Tchewa, and former Illinois forward RJ Melendez this offseason. The Dawgs have another scholarship spot to fill.

Alabama forward Juwan Gary has entered the NCAA transfer portal

Another Alabama men’s basketball player has hit the NCAA transfer portal.

Alabama redshirt sophomore forward Juwan Gary has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to Matt Zenitz of On3. Gary is the fourth member of the Crimson Tide to enter the portal this offseason. Gary will be joining former teammates Jusaun Holt, Jaden Quinerly, Keon Ambrose-Hylton, and Alex Tchikou in the portal.

Gary came to Tuscaloosa as a four-star prospect and a top 100 player hailing from the state of South Carolina. Gary missed his entire freshman season with an ACL injury and would go on to mostly come off the bench for the Tide over his next two seasons in Tuscaloosa. Gary averaged 6.5 points per game this past season with the Tide.

Head coach Nate Oats has had quite the roster turnover this offseason as he looks to build his own brand of basketball at the Capstone.

Report: Freshman guard Jusaun Holt has entered the transfer portal

Another member of the men’s basketball team has entered the transfer portal.

The hits just keep on coming for Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team. On Wednesday it was reported that [autotag]Jusaun Holt[/autotag] has entered the transfer portal.

The Tide has already suffered losses of the forward tandem of Alex Tchikou and Keon Ambrose-Hylton to the portal. Now the team can add Holt to the growing list of players looking for opportunities elsewhere. Holt appeared in 22 games for the Tide this past season.

Holt scored a career-high seven points in the SEC Tournament against the Vanderbilt Commodores. He is likely looking for an opportunity for a larger role on the hardwood. While he didn’t provide a lot of point production for coach Oats, he will need to find some depth for the 2022-23 season.

Holt was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 6 player in the state of Georgia and a top 115 player nationally. Prior to choosing the Tide, Holt drew interest from Georgia Tech and Ole Miss.

Ranking the Alabama Men’s Basketball Roster

Ranking Alabama’s basketball roster

With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Alabama Crimson Tide currently sits fifth in the SEC with a 6-6 conference record and a 16-9 record overall.

Although Alabama is solidly in the NCAA tournament, the Crimson Tide could drastically improve its seeding with a strong finish in conference play.

As the regular season continues to wind down we now have a pretty clear picture of who the Tide’s best players are. So I thought we could take a look at who I believe are the top-10 players for Nate Oats right now.

Obviously, this is very subjective so I am sure everyone will agree with my list completely!

Let’s get started, shall we?
