Ohio State gets crystal ball prediction to land four-star running back

This would be another huge addition to the 2025 class! #GoBucks

Ohio State football got some good news to kick off April. Four-star running back, Jordon Davison has been crystal balled to the Buckeyes by recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong. This coming fresh from a visit to Columbus this past weekend.

Davison is ranked as the No. 7 overall running back in the 2025 class according to 247Sports composite rankings. The timing of the news coincides with the hiring of new running backs coach, Carlos Locklyn.

Even though Texas recruiting insider, Hank South has logged a prediction for Davison to land with the Longhorns, Wiltfong believes this past weekend’s visit was enough to sway the California native to head east to OSU.

The Buckeyes still face an uphill battle for the talented running back. Davison has recently made visits to Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M and is yet to narrow his choices.

Many Michigan fans felt like the addition of Tony Alford would lead Davison to the Maize and Blue, but it doesn’t look like that is currently the situation at hand. However, we all know things can change at a moment’s notice in the recruiting world. We’ll keep you posted as things develop.

2025 4-Star RB out of Mater Dei (CA) will visit Texas A&M this month

It has been confirmed that 2025 4-Star running back Jordon Davison will visit Texas A&M later this month.

Outside of 2024, five-star athlete and Texas A&M commit Terry Bussey’s official announcement is on Feb. 7; Aggies head coach Mike Elko has shifted his focus to the 2025 recruiting class, knowing that earlier he can his staff can develop relationships within the cycle, the better they have of securing commitments as soon as spring hits.

Looking to upgrade at nearly every position group for the future, it has been confirmed that 2025 four-star RB Jordon Davison out of Mater Dei (CA) will, according to Rivals’ Adam Gorney, take a visit to College Station on Saturday, Jan. 27, just a week after he is slated to visit rival Texas the previous weekend.

According to 247Sports Composite, Davison is currently positioned as the 44th-ranked player in the class, the 2nd-ranked running back, and the 4th-ranked player in California as he heads into his final season at the prestigious Mater Dei.

In 11 games last season, Davison ran for 662 yards and 10 touchdowns, just a year removed from accumulating 1,514 yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground during his 2022 sophomore campaign, averaging 116 rushing yards per contest.

Still yet to sign a prospect in the cycle, Davison joins a long list of potential “head to head” recruiting battles with the Texas Longhorns, who will officially join the SEC next season.

Mater Dei redeems regular-season loss to St. John Bosco with championship win

Mater Dei won the CIF-SS championship by taking down St. John Bosco by 28 points — the same differential as the regular-season shutout.

It hasn’t been since 2017 that the winner of the regular-season game between Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) also won the championship game between those two teams. Over the last five years, the teams have rematched in the title game three times; the result was flipped all three times.

This year, the sixth season since 2017, it looked like there could be a flip in the script. No. 5 Mater Dei was shut out in the regular-season contest, and if No. 3 Bosco had truly figured out the Monarchs, the regular-season winner would wrap up the title game.

It was not to be. Mater Dei rolled over St. John Bosco 35-7 on Friday night, defeating them by the exact same margin in which the Monarchs lost to the Braves a month and a half ago. The Monarchs are back at the top of the California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section (CIF-SS) as champions for the second time in the last three years.

Mater Dei’s defense set the tone early with a first-quarter pick-six when three-star linebacker Abduall Sanders returned an interception 52 yards for the first points of the game.

St. John Bosco was unable to move the ball efficiently in that first half, recording negative-one rushing yards, according to the Los Angeles Times. Mater Dei held the Braves to just one touchdown, a reception by four-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa while tacking on a pair of scores from four-star RB Jordon Davison and WR Kayden Dixon-Wyatt to take a 21-7 lead into the break.

Defense and special teams carried the Monarchs through the second half, as a muffed punt in the fourth quarter gave Mater Dei the opportunity for four-star defensive lineman Tomu Topui, lined up at tight end, to score a 14-yard touchdown. On the first play of the next drive, four-star cornerback Zabien Brown had a pick-six of his own to put the game away.

The LA Times reported that first-year Mater Dei head coach Frank McManus took a more active role in managing the defense during games after the defeat against Bosco in October. He succeeded in helping the unit prepare for this game, and the players put away the Braves. McManus has gotten through the beast that is Bosco, and Mater Dei is set to place its claim as the top team in California once again.
