Dolphins sign two offensive linemen on Thursday

The Dolphins add two offensive lineman on

The Miami Dolphins have some depth issues along their offensive line, as they were down to just one starter on Monday against the Tennessee Titans.

Left tackle Terron Armstead and right guard Robert Hunt were inactive for the contest due to injuries, left guard Isaiah Wynn has been on injured reserve for a while now and center Connor Williams suffered a torn ACL in the contest.

Now, the Dolphins are adding some players to the mix upfront, as the team announced that they’ve signed Jonotthan Harrison to their 53-man roster and Matt Skura to the practice squad.

Harrison, 32, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2014 following a collegiate career at Florida. He spent three seasons with the Colts, three with the New York Jets and one with the Buffalo Bills. Over the last three seasons, he’s been on the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons practice squads. He’s started 42 career games at center, with the last one coming in 2019.

Skura, 30, was also an undrafted free agent of the Baltimore Ravens in 2016 after playing at Duke. He spent the first five seasons with the Ravens before joining the Dolphins in 2021, but he didn’t make the roster. He spent the last two seasons with the Giants and Los Angeles Rams. Skura has started 73 games in his career mostly at center.

Falcons elevate Quinton Bell, Jonotthan Harrison from practice squad

The #Falcons have elevated OLB Quinton Bell and OL Jonotthan Harrison from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the #Steelers

The Atlanta Falcons announced two moves on Saturday, elevating outside linebacker Quinton Bell and offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bell has appeared in three games this season, recording two tackles while mostly playing on special teams. Harrison has yet to take a snap for the Falcons in 2022, but the veteran lineman has started 42 career games going back to 2014.

On the Falcons’ final injury report, rookie linebacker Arnold Ebiketie (forearm) and offensive lineman Chuma Edoga (knee) were listed as questionable. These two injuries likely played a role in the team’s decision to elevate Bell and Harrison for Week 13.

The Atlanta Falcons on Thursday announced a series of transactions which included the addition of former New York Giants offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison.

The 30-year-old Harrison originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted rookie out of Florida in 2014. He later spent time with the New York Jets (2017-2019) and Buffalo Bills (2020) before signing with the Giants in 2021.

The Giants released Harrison as a part of final cuts last year but re-signed him to their practice squad roughly a month later. In early October, he suffered an Achilles injury and was placed on season-ending inured reserve.

Harrison has appeared in 84 career games with 42 starts. However, he never appeared in a regular season game for the Giants.

Giants place Dexter Lawrence on Reserve/COVID-19 list

The New York Giants have placed defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, plus other transactions.

New York Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, head coach Joe Judge announced on Wednesday morning.

On the positive end of things, the Giants will welcome back cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson and Keion Crossen, as well as wide receiver John Ross.

All three had been added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list last week and missed a Week 16 game.

Still on the Reserve/COVID-19 list awaiting clearance to return are left tackle Nate Solder, safety Julian Love and defensive tackle Danny Shelton. Practice squad players Jonotthan Harrison and Ka’dar Hollman are also on the list.

Other roster moves happening on Wednesday are the Giants designating linebacker Trent Harris for return and the signing of Omari Cobb to the practice squad. Harris was placed on IR with an ankle injury on December 3.

Cobb was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Marshall in 2020. He spent time on the Giants’ practice squad earlier this year.

18 injured or absent Giants account for over $33 million in salary cap space

A look at 18 injured or absent members of the New York Giants and their respective cap hits totaling more than $33 million in space.

The New York Giants have under $3 million in available salary cap space, according to Spotrac. And part of the reason for that slim margin is due to an overwhelming number of injured or absent players.

Sixteen players currently reside on injured reserve and that does not take into account the number of players that have been waived with injury settlements. Additionally, the Giants have one player (running back Gary Brightwell) on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and one player (center Jonotthan Harrison) on the Practice Squad/Injured list.

Let’s not even talk about the players eating up a ton of dead cap space.

Below is a look at the 18 injured or absent Giants and how much cap space they account for.

The New York Giants announced their practice squad protections ahead of a Week 5 game with the Dallas Cowboys and once again, offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison is among them.

In fact, the Giants’ four practice squad protections are identical to last week.

In addition to Harrison, the Giants also protected offensive lineman Korey Cunningham, defensive tackle David Moa and wide receiver Dante Pettis.

Harrison and Pettis were first-time additions to the protection list a week ago, while Cunningham and Moa had all been protection previously. For Cunningham, he has now been protected three weeks in a row. Moa has been protected in all five weeks this season.

Interestingly, only Harrison was elevated a week ago and after back-to-back weeks of being added to the gameday roster, his available status has expired. If the Giants wish to elevate him again on Sunday against the Cowboys, they will have to sign him from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

The New York Giants announced their practice squad protections ahead of a Week 4 game with the New Orleans Saints and for the first time, wide receiver Dante Pettis is among them.

Previously, the Giants had been regularly protecting wide receiver/kick returner C.J. Board, but he was signed to the 53-man roster last week.

With Sterling Shepard (hamstring), Darius Slayton (hamstring) and Kenny Golladay (hip) all hurting, it makes sense that Pettis would not only be protected but be potentially activated come Sunday.

In addition to Pettis, the Giants also protected offensive linemen Korey Cunningham and Jonotthan Harrison, and defensive tackle David Moa.

Harrison, who was activated last Sunday, is a first-time protection. For Cunningham, it’s his second consecutive week being protected, while this is the fourth week in a row the Giants have protected Moa.

The New York Giants have signed wide receiver/kick returner C.J. Board from their practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Board, who was promoted from the practice squad each of the previous two weeks, has returned three kicks for 86 yards this season. He’s also hauled in one reception for six yards, and run the ball once for six yards.

Meanwhile, the team promoted offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison from the practice squad to their gameday roster.

Harrison, who was a surprise cut at the end of training camp, had been signed back to the practice squad earlier this week. He will potentially see some offensive snaps as part of the team’s rotation across the line.

Finally, the Giants have placed linebacker Cam Brown on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Brown will miss at least three weeks before he’s eligible to return.

Following all of the moves, the Giants still have one open spot remaining on their 53-man roster.

Giants sign Jonotthan Harrison, Foster Sarell to practice squad

The New York Giants have signed two offensive linemen — Jonotthan Harrison and Foster Sarell — to their practice squad.

Following a flurry of transactions on Tuesday, the New York Giants were left with one open spot on their practice squad.

Ahead of Wednesday’s practice, they filled it. And then some.

The Giants have signed two offensive linemen to the unit — Jonotthan Harrison and Foster Sarell. In order to create space for both signings, the team also released running back Dexter Williams.

Sarell, once considered the nation’s top offensive tackle prospect, went undrafted out of Stanford back in April. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens and spent the summer there before being released in August. He briefly returned last week, signing to their practice squad before again being released.

The 6-foot-6, 322-pound Sarell has not appeared in an NFL game.

Harrison, of course, is a familiar name to Giants fans. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound interior lineman spent the summer in East Rutherford and was considered a surprising cut in April.

The 30-year-old Harrison not only provides the Giants some veteran experience, but he’s also familiar with their offensive system and has taken snaps with many of their current players. It may not be long before he finds his way onto the active roster.

The Giants still have one open spot on their 53-man roster after offensive lineman Nick Gates (leg) was sent to injured reserve.

It’s always a tough day across the league, but that’s the nature of business at the NFL level. Still, it’s somber and not something coaches or players enjoy.

The day also comes with more than a handful of surprises. So let’s take a look at six from East Rutherford.
