Dolphins sign 8 players to reserve/future contracts after 2023 season

Here’s who’s sticking around from the practice squad.

With the Miami Dolphins 2023 officially coming to a close on Saturday, the restrictions that force teams to keep their active rosters at 53 players are lifted, allowing teams to sign up to 90 players.

Once a team is eliminated from the playoffs, they can sign a number of players to reserve/futures contracts which adds them to the active roster through the spring and summer.

On Monday, the Dolphins signed these eight players from their practice squad to such deals:

Dolphins elevate LB and OT for matchup with the Titans

Miami’s elevates two from their practice squad for MNF.

On Monday, the Miami Dolphins had the opportunity to elevate up to two players from their practice squad to the active roster for their Week 14 battle with the Tennessee Titans.

Miami opted to use both of them, as they elevated linebacker Quinton Bell and offensive tackle Ryan Hayes for the contest.

Bell, 27, was originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2019. He spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and two more with the Atlanta Falcons. He joined the Dolphins practice squad back in October.

Hayes, 23, was a seventh-round pick of the Dolphins this past year following a collegiate career at Michigan. He was claimed by the Indianapolis Colts after roster cuts, but he returned to Miami’s practice squad after just a few weeks.

This is the first elevation for both players, who will have two more after this matchup.

Dolphins swap LBs on their practice squad on Tuesday

Miami moves on from a LB and brings in another.

The Miami Dolphins have had some injury issues early in the season, and it’s not just impacting the 53-man roster, the practice squad has had some as well.

On Tuesday, the Dolphins released linebacker Chase Winovich from the practice squad with an injury settlement.

Winovich was elevated for three games this season. He recorded two tackles while playing 47 snaps on special teams and five on defense.

To fill the spot left by Winovich, the Dolphins have signed linebacker Quinton Bell to their practice squad.

Bell, 27, was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 after a collegiate career at Prairie View A&M. He’s also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles.

In nine career games, he’s recorded three tackles.

Bell was part of the group that worked out for Miami last week when they signed running back Jake Funk to the practice squad.

Dolphins work out 7 players on Tuesday

Miami worked out 7 before signing 1.

After the Miami Dolphins officially lost running back Darrynton Evans from their practice squad on Monday, they had an open spot that they needed to fill.

With that knowledge, the Dolphins held workouts on Tuesday that included seven players before they signed running back Jake Funk to their practice squad.

While they’ve already made the signing, it may be worth it to get familiar with those who Miami opted not to sign on Tuesday.

Eagles announce 10 roster moves

The Philadelphia #Eagles have made 10 roster moves ahead of the final week of the preseason

The Eagles made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday, as the team signed Robert Cooper,  Marvin Wilson,  Caleb Sanders, Tyreek Maddox-Williams, and Quinton Bell, Waived/Injured Tyrie Cleveland, Noah Elliss, Zech McPhearson, and released Greedy Williams and Ty Zentner.

McPhearson will miss the 2023 season after tearing his Achilles.

Falcons elevate Quinton Bell, Jonotthan Harrison from practice squad

The #Falcons have elevated OLB Quinton Bell and OL Jonotthan Harrison from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the #Steelers

The Atlanta Falcons announced two moves on Saturday, elevating outside linebacker Quinton Bell and offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bell has appeared in three games this season, recording two tackles while mostly playing on special teams. Harrison has yet to take a snap for the Falcons in 2022, but the veteran lineman has started 42 career games going back to 2014.

On the Falcons’ final injury report, rookie linebacker Arnold Ebiketie (forearm) and offensive lineman Chuma Edoga (knee) were listed as questionable. These two injuries likely played a role in the team’s decision to elevate Bell and Harrison for Week 13.
