If Jalen Hurts is the quarterback for at least the next calendar year, then Philadelphia could choose to build around the quarterback, they could push a first-round pick back to 2023 where the quarterback will be much more talented, or they could all-in on a player like Russell Wilson or DeShaun Watson.
It’ll be an interesting lead-up to April’s NFL draft and we’re adding to the fun with our first full seven-round mock draft 1.0.
In our first seven-round mock draft using Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator, we avoided making any trades in this first version, choosing to fully restock a roster that has holes on both sides of the ball, utilizing seven of the 10 picks on high-profile, and highly versatile defensive players.
Georgia offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer announced on Friday that he will be entering the 2022 NFL draft and will not come back for another year at Georgia.
“Looking back on my time here at the University of Georgia, there was no way that I couldn’t accounted for the incredible number of friends, memories, and life lessons that are now a part of my life journey,” Salyer said on Twitter. “These four years have indeed been a fantastic ride with my teammates, coaches, and the incredible fans that make up Dawg Nation. There will never be a feeling as electric as running out of the smoke at Sanford Stadium or standing on the podium celebrating a National Championship in Indianapolis. Nothing gives me greater pride than to help deliver a National Championship to the great state of Georgia. Growing up a Georgia boy, I know how much it means to cross that bridge. I want to thank coach Smart and coach Pittman for the opportunity to come to UGA, and I would also like to thank coach Luke for being a fantastic coach and mentor. With that being said, I’m ready to start preparing for the 2022 NFL Draft. It’s time to get my momma that house.”
One of the top offensive linemen in college football is making the early jump to the next level.
Georgia guard Jamaree Salyer is leaving school early to enter the 2022 NFL draft, making his announcement Friday via social media.
A massive, dominant blocker who helped the Bulldogs capture their first national title since 1980, Salyer projects as a mid-round pick in this year’s draft, with the potential to come off the board late on Day 2.
3 Georgia Bulldogs have been selected to Walter Camp, FWAA All-America teams…
Three Georgia Bulldogs have been named Walter Camp and FWAA All-Americans.
Linebacker Nakobe Dean and defensive tackle Jordan Davis were both named to the first team, while offensive tackle Jamaree Salyer earned second team honors.
Dean had a breakout year in a dominant Georgia defense that held opponents under seven points per game (6.9).
The junior racked up 61 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, a forced fumble, five pass breakups and two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).
The Mississippi native was given the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker. Dean also won the high school version of the award in 2018.
Davis was an immovable force inside a talented UGA defensive line.
The senior took home both the Outland Trophy, given to the nation’s top interior lineman and the Bednarik Award, given to the best defensive player in college football.
It’s the first time ever an SEC player has swept both awards.
Salyer might have been a candidate for a first team selection if it weren’t for injury problems in the latter part of the season.
The senior missed four games but still played 71% of Georgia’s offensive snaps this season.
The preseason All-American was one of the highest graded tackles in all of college football in 2021, per Pro Football Focus.
The Bulldogs will need all three stars at their best when they face Michigan in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
Here’s an updated look at No. 1 Georgia’s injury situation headed to Tennessee…
No. 1 Georgia (9-0) will face Tennessee (5-4) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Knoxville.
The Bulldogs are coming off a dominant 43-6 win over Missouri in Athens, and the Volunteers are coming off a 45-42 win at No. 18 Kentucky.
There is some good news on the Georgia injury front.
Quarterback J.T. Daniels is healthy after missing four weeks with a lat injury, and two wideouts have added depth to a receiver room decimated with injuries.
Receivers Jermaine Burton and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint have seen the field the last two weeks. Burton caught three passes for 76 yards and a touchdown versus the Tigers.
We learned on Thursday that the receiver position took another hit. Redshirt freshman receiver and the fastest player on the Georgia team, Arian Smith, suffered a broken leg during practice and will require surgery.
Smith is a track star for the Bulldogs and just saw his first action against Missouri after missing four games. Smith caught a 35-yard touchdown versus the Tigers.
Georgia is still missing starting left tackle and preseason All-American Jamaree Salyer due to a foot injury. UGA coach Kirby Smart said Salyer may be able to go this week in Knoxville.
Here’s an updated UGA injury report for the matchup with Tennessee:
Georgia Bulldogs starting left tackle Jamaree Salyer did not play on Saturday against Missouri due to a foot injury.
Instead he was on the sidelines in a walking boot and using crutches as UGA rolled to a 43-6 win over Mizzou in Athens.
Kirby Smart, in talking with the media discussed Salyer’s injury and provided a positive update on the senior offensive lineman from Atlanta.
“Jamaree’s (injury) is not extremely serious,” Smart said. “It does not require surgery. He may be able to go this week. We will see how he is today. We’re hoping to get him back. He’s conditioning, running, doing everything. We’re just hoping we can get him back.”
Redshirt freshman Broderick Jones made his first career start in Salyer’s absence against Missouri and would be expected to fill in for Salyer again this weekend if needed.
Georgia Bulldogs left tackle Jamaree Salyer has been ruled out for the Missouri game with a foot injury. Salyer is additionally expected to miss the Tennessee game on Nov. 13.
Salyer is considered to be UGA’s top 2022 NFL draft prospect along the offensive front. He brings experience, talent, and physicality to the Georgia offensive front.
In Salyer’s absence, offensive line coach Matt Luke is anticipated to turn to redshirt freshman Broderick Jones. Jones, a former five-star recruit, has played in all eight of UGA’s games this season. He filled in for Salyer late during the Auburn game.
It will be interesting to see how Georgia shuffles the offensive line. The Bulldogs have started the same group of Warren Ericson, Justin Shaffer, Sedrick Van Pran, and Warren McClendon along with Salyer since the Dawgs played UAB.
Kirby Smart and company frequently switch up the offensive line rotation when games get out of hand.
Ugasports.com and Dawgs247 reported the news on the Salyer’s foot injury first.
11 days until Georgia football kickoff: Aaron Murray
There are Aaron Murray (11) more days until Georgia takes on Clemson during the season opener from Charlotte on September 4.
A top-five battle that is already being considered the game of the year is getting close, and with there being 11 days remaining we are taking this time to honor one of the greatest to don the red and black – the legendary Aaron Murray.
Murray holds nearly all of the Georgia and SEC passing records.
Throughout his four season as the Georgia starter, he led the team to a 36-18 record. But for Murray, it was all about his outstanding numbers. In his career, he had 921 completions on 1,478 attempts (62.3%) for 13,166 yards, and 121 touchdowns, all of which are Georgia records. His 13,166 passing yards was even an all-time SEC record, which still holds today. Had he been able to knock off Alabama in the 2012 SEC Championship, and likely lead Georgia to a win over Notre Dame in the National Championship Game, he would easily hold the top spot.
The Georgia Bulldogs need a good performance out of their offensive line in 2021.
The Georgia Bulldogs need a good performance out of their offensive line in 2021. Quarterback JT Daniels isn’t the most mobile athlete, so the offensive line’s protection of him will be critical, especially in week one against Clemson’s talented defensive line.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and offensive line coach Matt Luke has built up some quality talent along the offensive front. The Dawgs should have a strong running game again in 2021.
Can Georgia’s offensive line avoid poor performances this season? Last year, the offensive line and running backs surprisingly could not establish the run against Mississippi State. Georgia still beat Mississippi State, but the Dawgs needs to be able to run the ball effectively against each of their opponents this year.
How does Georgia’s depth chart stack up at offensive tackle?
