Top-fifty 2022 prospect Jalon Walker includes Ohio State in top six

One of the class of 2022’s top high school football linebackers, Jalon Walker, has included Ohio State in his top six.

The class of 2022’s No. 2 rated outside linebacker has included Ohio State in his top six. Jalon Walker, out of Salisbury High School in North Carolina, is the No. 41 overall prospect in the recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He’s a high four-star recruit, and at 6-foot, 2-inches, and 220 pounds, he’s an athletic framed linebacker that will continue to add muscle and has the potential to be a field-roaming playmaker for whatever program he chooses. Also in his top six are North Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, and Clemson.

There is no timetable yet for Walker’s commitment, and he’ll surely want to get on Ohio State’s campus if and when the dead recruiting period eases because of coronavirus pandemic, but we’ll keep an eye on any further news that comes out. In the meantime, being a part of these college football superpowers results in a lot of competition for his services.

But we’ve seen Ohio State pull these types of prospects in time after time, so it’s clearly not just a token name drop. There will be more on his recruitment in the near future.

UGA football among top schools for 4-star OLB Jalon Walker

Four-star Salisbury High School linebacker Jalon Walker puts the University of Georgia and more among his latest edition of top schools

The Georgia Bulldogs offered a football scholarship to linebacker Jalon Walker back in August. On Nov. 6, Walker has put the University of Georgia among his latest edition of top schools.

Walker is a four-star outside linebacker recruit, who plays football for Salisbury High School. Salisbury is a smaller town north of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Walker is currently a junior in high school and is a member of the class of 2022. He measures at six-foot-two and weighs 220 pounds, which is good size for a linebacker. He’s got ample time to decide where he wants to play college football.

Kirby Smart and Georgia are one of the top destinations for elite linebacker recruits in college football. The University of Georgia is loaded at the position currently, but the Dawgs are likely losing several linebackers to the NFL following this season.

College football players, who have played in over four games, are allowed to return next season due to COVID-19, even if they are seniors. This will be something to watch in programs across the country following this season.

Walker has already received scholarship offers from FSU, LSU, Tennessee, Oregon, Clemson, Texas and more. The attention of these major programs further justifies Walker’s elite four-star rating.

Jalon Walker puts UNC, Auburn, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State in his list of top schools. He’s got lots of elite programs to choose from. He removed LSU, Arizona State, Texas, and more from his top ten. The four-star linebacker announced his top schools via his Twitter account:

Go Dawgs! Best of luck to Walker throughout his recruitment process and with his college football career. He should be a priority target for the Bulldogs in the class of 2022.

Notre Dame Recruiting: Irish in Top 10 for North Carolina linebacker Walker

The Irish have advanced to the next stage of North Carolina linebacker Jalon Walker’s recruitment.

The Notre Dame coaching staff knows that in order to take the next step and join the nations elite elite programs they must do it on the recruiting trail. The 2021 class is 13th in the nation according to the 247Sports composite, but the 2022 class is off to a fast start. Three early commits have the Irish 4th nationally and go some good news over the weekend from North Carolina linebacker Jalon Walker.

As you can see Walker is a wanted prospect, some of the best schools in the country are after his signature. He is the kind of player that would help the Irish ascend to where schools like Clemson and Alabama are. Currently Walker is rated as the 41st best player overall and 2nd outside linebacker by the composite player rankings of 247Sports.

Brian Kelly and defensive coordinator Clark Lea will need to put the full-court recruiting press on Walker. He is the rightest rated outside linebacker they are pursuing, so going hard after him makes plenty of sense. We will have a better sense if Walker is a viable option when he inevitably trims his list down. Hopefully the Irish will make it on to the next stage of his recruitment, if not they will have to focus their efforts on other players, albeit not quite as talented according to the recruiting experts.

Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Texas A&M have also made Walker’s top 10.

Walker is the No. 2 overall outside linebacker in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports composite. Nationally, he ranks No. 41 and is also the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.

Receiving 24 offers overall, big-time schools such as South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech were cut.

Texas offered Walker back in May, giving him his one and only offer from a Big 12 school. Although Tom Herman prefers to recruit in-state prospects, he has begun to go after elite out-of-state players in the 2022 class.

As things stand, five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers and four-star wide receiver Phaizon Wilson make up Texas’ 2022 class. The Longhorns will be looking to coupe the best recruiting year Herman has had since being hired in 2017.

It seems as if Ohio State is making the strongest push for Walker right now. The Buckeyes already have commitments from three linebackers in their 2022 class, including five-star Gabe Powers, four-star Dasan McCullough, and four-star C.J. Hicks.

Busy Weekend for Notre Dame Football in the 2022 Recruiting Cycle

The Irish gain their first class of ’22 football commit along with offering two elite players in the same class.

The biggest news out of the 2022 Irish recruiting class was the commit of Joey Tonana yesterday, but he wasn’t the only player the Notre Dame staff was after this weekend. Two more offers in the ’22 class were given out, both of them ranking inside the Top 100 prospects for the cycle.

The first player to report an offer was Texas’ athlete Brenen Thompson, the 5-foot-10-inch and 165-pounds player is ranked as the 77th overall prospect according to the 247Sports composite. The Irish join Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and others vying for his commitment.

Thompson plays quarterback for his Spearman High team, but due to his size he doesn’t project to play there in college. What Thompson does possess is great vision and burst. The offensive side of the ball is where Thompson projects, but it remains to be seen if it’s at wide receiver or running back.

North Carolina’s Jalon Walker was the other reported offer, the linebacker is an imposing figure at 6-foot-2-inches and 220-pounds for the rising junior. Already holding offers from LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Clemson and others, Walker is a nationally recruited prospect. It makes sense as he is rated as the 36th overall player by the 247Sports composite.

Walker plays a lot of coverage for his Salisbury High team but when he arrives for the tackle, he brings it. A ferocious hitter may need to refine his pass rushing skills but as a run stopper and in coverage, Walker is already ahead of the game. He has the size already for the collegiate game and shows enough speed to potentially move back into the secondary and be a hard-hitting safety.

It has been quite in regards to the 2022 class for Brian Kelly and his staff but this weekend was a step in the right direction. Getting their first commit in offensive tackle Joey Tanona and offering Walker and Thompson is positive movement of the Irish.
