Giants defeat Panthers: Winners, losers and those in between

Here are the winners, losers and those in between from the New York Giants’ Week 7 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

For just the second time this season, the New York Giants picked up a victory — this time, a 25-3 upset victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Things didn’t look good early, but the Giants weathered the storm and came out strong in the second half. In what felt like the blink of the eye, they were rolling on both sides of the ball and up big on the scoreboard.

Joe Judge & Co. didn’t take their foot off the gas and sailed to their first home win of the year.

Here’s a look at the winners and losers (and those in between) from Week 7.

Giants fall to Rams: Winners, losers and those in between

Here are the winners, losers and those in between from the New York Giants’ Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The New York Giants were absolutely manhandled by the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. They were beaten in every imaginable facet and it appears time for heads to roll.

With the loss, the Giants fall to 1-5 on the season and have the NFL’s worst overall record since 2017. With the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all on tap, things are not going to get easier.

But before we look ahead, let’s examine the winners and losers (and those in between) from Week 6.

Be prepared, however… There weren’t many winners.

Giants defeat Saints: Winners, losers and those in between

Here are the winners, losers and those in between from the New York Giants’ Week 4 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

The New York Giants rallied from two scores down with under 7:00 remaining in the fourth quarter to push the game into overtime.

After winning the coin toss, the ball was put into the hands of quarterback Daniel Jones and he didn’t look back. He and running back Saquon Barkley put the finishing touches on one of DJ’s best games as a pro.

Here are the winners and losers (and those in between) from Week 4.

Azeez Ojulari, Collin Johnson were highest-graded Giants in Week 3

Rookie edge rusher Azeez Ojulari and wide receiver Collin Johnson were the highest-graded New York Giants in a Week 3 loss to Atlanta.

The New York Giants fell to the Atlanta Falcons, 17-14, in Week 3. That dropped their record to 0-3 on the season and may have started a chain reaction that results in significant change.

Much of what came out of Sunday’s game was negative, but not everything. There were a few small bright spots.

Among them was rookie edge rusher Azeez Ojulari, who picked up his third sack of the season. He also led the team with a 92.2 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Behind Ojulari on the defensive side of the ball were defensive lineman Leonard Williams (83.1), linebacker Tae Crowder (72.2) and defensive back Julian Love (72.0). That’s with a 20-snap minimum.

Other notable defensive grades include cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (71.9), safety Jabrill Peppers (62.1) and linebacker Reggie Ragland (55.6).

The lowest-graded Giants defender was cornerback Rodarius Williams (31.9), but he had just 17 snaps. Safety Logan Ryan, who had 62 snaps, scored the next lowest grade (40.9).

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Collin Johnson shined in place of Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. He graded out with an 83.2.

Behind Johnson were left tackle Andrew Thomas (82.3), center Billy Price (76.2) and wide receiver Kenny Golladay (75.7).

Other notable grades on offense include quarterback Daniel Jones (71.9), running back Saquon Barkley (63.4) and wide receiver Kadarius Toney (54.5).

The lowest-grade Giant on offense will come as little surprise. Guard Ben Bredeson graded out at 31.7 (including pass protection grade of 25.7).

The New York Giants fell in heartbreaking fashion to the Washington Football Team on Thursday night, dropping their record to 0-2 on the season.

As the losing continues, frustration across the organization is beginning to grow. Players are griping with each other and the coaches, fans are calling for heads and somewhere, John Mara is probably throwing chairs.

But there were a few bright spots in Week 2. Namely quarterback Daniel Jones, who earned a team-high grade of 91.3 on Thursday night courtesy of Pro Football Focus.

Just behind Jones on the offensive side of the ball were tight end Kaden Smith (87.9), fullback Eli Penny (70.9) and wide receiver Sterling Shepard (68.6).

Other notable grades on offense include running back Saquon Barkley (63.3), wide receiver Darius Slayton (61.0) and right tackle Nate Solder (49.7).

The lowest-graded player on offense was center Billy Price, who checked out at 28.1, including a pass protection grade of 8.7 (no, that’s not a typo).

On the defensive side of the ball, cornerback Adoree’ Jackson led the way with an 84.3. He was followed by safety Xavier McKinney (75.5), cornerback James Bradberry (74.3) and safety Jabrill Peppers (69.8).

Other noteworthy defensive grades include linebacker Azeez Ojulari (51.6), safety Logan Ryan (51.0) and defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence (45.0).

The lowest-graded Giants defender was defensive end Raymond Johnson (29.7).

Giants place Shane Lemieux on IR, sign Matt Skura to active roster

The New York Giants have placed OL Shane Lemieux on injured reserve and signed OL Matt Skura to their active roster.

The New York Giants made a series of transactions on Thursday prior to their Week 2 matchup with the Washington Football Team.

The Giants officially announced that offensive lineman Shane Lemieux (knee) has been placed on injured reserve. He will miss a minimum of three weeks but potentially more.

Lemieux suffered what some have reported to be a partially torn patellar tendon. He missed all three of the Giants’ preseason games and took just a 17 snaps in Week 1 before being replaced by Ben Bredeson.

Replacing Lemieux on the 53-man roster is offensive lineman Matt Skura, who was signed from the practice squad. Skura signed with the Giants earlier this month after being released by Miami. He has appeared in 54 career games — 42 of those at center.

With Lemieux now on IR, Nick Gates will slide from center to left guard. Billy Price will start at center.

Bredeson will serve as a backup.

In addition to those moves, the Giants have also elevated wide receiver/kickoff returner C.J. Board and tight end Chris Myarick to their gameday roster. This is the second week in a row Board has been elevated.

Following the conclusion of Thursday’s game, Board and Myarick will be returned to the practice squad.

Billy Price traded to the New York Giants

According to Ian Rapoport, The Cincinnati Bengals traded former Ohio State All-American center Billy Price to the New York Giants on Monday.

We’ve got another former Ohio State player on the move as NFL teams jostle personnel to make tough decisions to cull things down to the necessary 53-man roster to start the year.

The Cincinnati Bengals traded former Buckeye center Billy Price to the New York Giants according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. At Ohio State, Price won the Rimington Award as an All-American and was selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Bengals.

However, Price has never been able to find a consistent role with Cincinnati and it’s likely that the Bengals wanted to get something for the former first-rounder rather than leave him off the active roster and have him claimed off waivers, getting nothing in return.

In this case, the Bengals get defensive lineman B.J. Hill as a part of the deal.

Things are about to get crazy, and we’ll do our best to stay on top of all the roster cuts and moves over the next couple of days. For now, though, here’s to wishing Price luck in getting things together out in the Big Apple.

Report: Bengals had Michael Jordan trade talks before Billy Price-Giants deal

Could the Bengals still trade another notable name?

The Cincinnati Bengals ultimately decided to trade Billy Price to the New York Giants.

But they weren’t the only team interested in Price — and Price wasn’t the only name who came up in trade talks.

According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, New York and the Jacksonville Jaguars were calling teams like the Bengals about help. And besides Price, one of the names who came up was Michael Jordan.

Jordan was first on the depth chart at guard to start training camp but is firmly on the roster bubble now. And he’s now a name to watch in trade chatter before the Bengals have to cut the roster to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon.

Also of note, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the Bengals had Price’s name in talks for weeks, with a deal only coming to fruition right before the 53-man cutdown.

Report: Giants trade DL B.J. Hill to Bengals for OL Billy Price

The New York Giants have traded defensive lineman B.J. Hill to the Cincinnati Bengals for offensive lineman Billy Price.

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge announced on Monday the team is trading defensive lineman B.J. Hill; one reason why Hill was held out of Sunday night’s game versus New England.

The trade is reportedly to the Cincinnati Bengals for center Billy Price, a 2018 first-round pick out of Ohio State.

The trade, pending physicals, does several things for the Giants. First, it opens up a roster spot for defensive lineman Raymond Johnson (as per Judge), who has impressed this summer at camp and in the preseason.

The second leg of why this is a good trade for Big Blue is it gives them a natural center in Price. That will potentially shift Nick Gates Gates back to his role as a guard/swing tackle where he has proved to be effective.

If Gates stays at center, Price also has experience at guard.

Price, 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, won the Rimington Trophy in 2017 as the nation’s top center. He was selected 21st overall by the Bengals in the 2018 NFL draft and has played in 42 games for Cincinnati but has mostly been a rotational player suffering through a spate of injuries.

Pro Football Focus graded Price as their 47th ranked center in the NFL last year. This spring, the Bengals declined to exercise his fifth-year option.

Hill was a former third-round pick of the Giants in 2018. He is in the final year of his rookie contract.

Is Billy Price a trade candidate for the Bengals?

Should the Cincinnati Bengals move Billy Price?

[mm-video type=video id=01f60v7f5de31h3n41fq playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01f60v7f5de31h3n41fq/01f60v7f5de31h3n41fq-165c918732918ecdd2b07545b4385657.jpg]

The Cincinnati Bengals will have to make some interesting calls during cutdown days this summer.

When we formulated our 53-man roster projections recently, center Billy Price stuck on the roster mostly because of the numbers game — his versatility in that he can play all over the interior is a plus.

But over at Bleacher Report, Brad Gagnon listed one player each team should trade before the upcoming season and listed Price as Cincinnati’s candidate:

“Finding a trade partner could be tough considering the 26-year-old’s struggles the last few years, but he’d represent an inexpensive one-year trial for a team looking for help within the interior offensive line and Cincinnati might be able to at least salvage a late-round pick in exchange for him.”

And that sums it up well — Price has been a bust and is on his last chance with the team. Getting something back for him in exchange for his eventual departure would make sense. And for the team getting him, it’s a one-year experiment.

So yes, the Bengals should take pretty much any offer that might come up for Price, unless returning line coach Frank Pollack is really adamant he stays. But he’s on the roster bubble as it is and maybe the only other convincing argument is the team needs him as insurance since Trey Hopkins continues to rehab his season-ending injury.

But with rookies like Trey Hill on the rise as possible long-term options, Price returning any sort of value on the trade market might be a smart move for the Bengals.
