Tyler Scott says he wanted to end up with the Bears all along

The newest Bears wide receiver is thrilled to have been drafted by Chicago.

Years ago, former Chicago Bears wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad once famously said Chicago “is where wide receivers go to die.” Don’t tell that to Tyler Scott though because he won’t listen to any of that negativity.

The Bears selected Scott with the No. 133 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, giving the team a speedy weapon at the receiver position. General manager Ryan Poles was clearly enamored with Scott and it seems the feeling was mutual.

After getting drafted, Scott posted the video of his reaction upon hearing the news with his family and said Chicago was always where he wanted to be. “EXACTLY who I wanted to draft me all along!!” Scott wrote in his tweet while tagging his new quarterback. “Time to get to work Justin Fields #DaBears #ChildofGod.”

Scott was overwhelmed by the news and got emotional as the former Bearcat put on his new Bears hat. Scott was sensational in 2022, catching 54 passes for 899 yards and nine touchdowns. He joins an overhauled wide receiver room that features D.J. Moore, Darnell Mooney, and Chase Claypool as the top options.

The Bears have done a phenomenal job of finding weapons and support for Fields this offseason and Scott is the latest example of that. It’s only a matter of time before these two get on the field together and make big plays.

Joel Klatt’s College Football Playoff Proposal

What is the perfect number of teams for the College Football Playoff?

We may still be years away from the College Football Playoff adding teams but that didn’t stop analyst Joel Klatt from reworking what this year’s CFP could have looked like.

Klatt took to Twitter to offer his idea of how to come up with a 12-team playoff that makes the most sense.  Below are the details to his plan that we’ll comment on along the way as well as his top 12 rankings.

Opinion: Herbstreit misses mark in defending CFP committee

Had Oklahoma State won versus Baylor would Cincinnati have still gotten in?

I’ve long been a fan of Kirk Herbstreit’s work at ESPN. He’s among the most respected analysts in all of college football and burns the wick at both ends as he’ll be in Las Vegas on Friday night, Atlanta on Saturday morning, and at the ESPN studios in Connecticut on a Sunday all in the name of college football coverage.

Despite some fan bases giving him what I like to call the “Joe Buck Treatment” in playing off any of his opinions because “he hates our team”, I find his work to be usually very well based upon facts and objective.  There is a lot to be said for that in this world of talking, er, screaming heads.

With that said, Herbstreit shared a thought Tuesday evening that couldn’t have possibly missed the mark by more.  See it below:

Next: What’s wrong with Herbstreit’s thought?

ESPN FPI being kind to Notre Dame?

Is Notre Dame essentially a coin toss to make the dance at this point?

We’ve followed just about every poll, rankings system, and college football analyst who decides to put together rankings this season and one we kept finding to be quite compelling was ESPN’s Football Power Index.  It was mind-boggling at times but also very compelling, however it was rarely favorable to Notre Dame.

That may be until this moment.

The majority of the nation had seemingly written off Notre Dame’s chances at a College Football Playoff berth months ago, yet at 11-1 and their regular season already a wrap, their odds haven’t been viewed as overly great.

FPI tells a slightly different story however as they relatively like Notre Dame’s odds at crashing the playoff party.  There are seven teams who FPI says has a chance at a playoff spot so who are they and what are their chances?

Oklahoma State passes Notre Dame in new College Football Playoff rankings

Who should be ranked higher: Notre Dame or Oklahoma State?

I know it’s hard to believe based off the whirlwind 24 hours it’s been but believe it or not, there is actually still football to be played this season and Notre Dame still technically has a chance to win a national championship.

Yes, the team who just had their head coach bail after breaking up with them over text message, has a chance at the College Football Playoff (CFP).  Following their 45-14 victory at Stanford on Saturday the Irish finished the season 11-1 and now await things to play out both ahead of and behind them in the CFP rankings.

The CFP committee released their latest rankings on Tuesday night and here is how they go:

How do your top six compare to Herbstreit’s?

After a wild rivalry weekend of college football that shook up the top 25 and made a major impact on the College Football Playoff, we now start sorting out the pieces.

Notre Dame is in the clubhouse with an 11-1 record but will Wisconsin’s loss hurt the Irish chances at making the CFP?

Will Michigan pass Alabama in the rankings?

And how far will Oklahoma State move up after winning a thriller over Oklahoma?

Kirk Herbstreit offered his new college football rankings on Sunday morning as he normally does and it went as follows:

Notre Dame’s updated road map to College Football Playoff

What do you think should need to happen to get Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff?

Notre Dame checked in sixth this week in the College Football Playoff rankings with two teams ahead of them set to play this weekend and another pair set to play next weekend.  It seems like the Irish have a great shot at making the CFP for a third time in four seasons upon hearing that, right?

To quote Lee Corso, “Not so fast, my friend!”

Although those are the facts today, seemingly everything you hear appears to be hell-bent on a one-loss Big 12 champion (Oklahoma or Oklahoma State) moving past Notre Dame.  The Irish will have to hope for whoever wins the Bedlam matchup this weekend to fall in next weekend’s Big 12 championship.

College Football Playoff releases new rankings

What did they get right and what did they get wrong this week?

The College Football Playoff committee released their third set of rankings on Tuesday night as we continue to inch closer to the end of the regular season.

We’re certain that Georgia remained at the top but did Alabama. Oregon, and Ohio State all stay in the same order from two-through-four?

And did Michigan stay ranked ahead of Michigan State a second-straight week?

Here is the latest College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday night:

College Football Playoff Rankings Projection: Week 12

What will be the biggest changes in the College Football Playoff rankings this week?

Week 11 of college football has come and gone and in its tide it took away an unbeaten Oklahoma team as they fell hard at Baylor.  Also with it went No. 11 Texas A&M who fell in their first true road game of the year at Ole Miss while top-20s NC State, Auburn, and Purdue all fell as well.  (See it – how the CFP Top 25 fared this weekend)

So what will the third round of the College Football Playoff rankings look like when they’re revealed on Tuesday night?

Here is my best guess as we count down from 25-1:

Should Michigan be ranked ahead of Michigan State?

What is the best part of the first day of college basketball season?

If you said the conclusion of the first game in the annual Champions Classic then you are correct, because at the end of that game ESPN always unveils the latest College Football Playoff rankings for that given week.

They did that Tuesday night and here is how their updated top 25 looks:
