Kirk Herbstreit updates his college football top 6 after Saturday

Who was the biggest winner of Week 12?

Survive and advance was the story of Week 12 in college football. Among the top 10 teams in the College Football Playoff rankings only No. 5 Tennessee and No. 10 Utah lost, but close calls and survival were the story for many.

So how will the College Football Playoff rankings look when they get updated and released on Tuesday night? We took our best guess at that late Saturday night, and you should certainly check it out.

Now a man who is such a big deal in college football that he had his own personal foot warmer on ESPN’s “College Gameday” yesterday, has released his.

Here is how Herbstreit ranks the top six with one week of the regular season to go before conference championships take place.

Three Chiefs rank in top six on Touchdown Wire’s 101 best players list for 2023

Three #Chiefs ranked in the top six of Touchdown Wire’s 101 best players list ahead of the 2023 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs host an incredible amount of talent heading into the 2023 regular season, and if the team can maintain its health in the coming months, it should have no problem competing for another Super Bowl title.

Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire recently compiled his list of the NFL’s top 101 players and ranked three Chiefs in his top six heading into the new season.

Prolific tight end Travis Kelce took the sixth spot behind Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett and was the only player at his position to crack the top 10.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones ranked as the third-best player in the league, according to Farrar, and was placed just one spot behind All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson, who took second place.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Patrick Mahomes was Farrar’s top player at the number-one spot, but the accolade is yet another feather in the MVP’s cap ahead of the 2023 season kickoff next week.

Texas among top schools for four-star DL Hunter Osborne

Texas made the cut along with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, LSU and Tennessee.

Texas is continuing to build its recruiting presence in SEC territory.

Talented defensive lineman from Alabama Hunter Osborne announced the top six schools left in his recruitment. Texas made the cut along with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, LSU and Tennessee.

Osborne recorded 60 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and nine pass breakups as a junior for Hewitt-Trussville High School, the same school Texas freshman Juscite Finkley attended.

247Sprots recruiting analyst Cooper Petanga had strong remarks about Osburne in his scouting report.

Flashes a good first step off the line of scrimmage, displaying good foot and body quickness at the point of attack. Plays with good knee bend and flexibility, showing the ability to bend the edge. Sudden rusher, moves efficiency in his pass rush. Can win with speed, quickness, and power. Shows the ability to go speed to power at the point of attack, plays with a good understanding of leverage and body control. Closes space quickly and flashes excellent backside pursuit ability. Appears to have a good motor.

Kirk Herbstreit releases his new college football rankings

How do your top six compare to Herbstreit’s?

After a wild rivalry weekend of college football that shook up the top 25 and made a major impact on the College Football Playoff, we now start sorting out the pieces.

Notre Dame is in the clubhouse with an 11-1 record but will Wisconsin’s loss hurt the Irish chances at making the CFP?

Will Michigan pass Alabama in the rankings?

And how far will Oklahoma State move up after winning a thriller over Oklahoma?

Kirk Herbstreit offered his new college football rankings on Sunday morning as he normally does and it went as follows:

What does your current top six in all of college football look like?

Kirk Herbstreit has released his updated college football top six rankings after a fairly crazy week nine wrapped up this weekend.

Despite winning by 19 on the road and staying unbeaten as they won fairly easily at Tulane, Cincinnati slid in Herbstreit’s rankings.  Who then moved up in order to bump them down?

Below are Herbstreit’s latest top six rankings:

Five-star edge Omari Abor announces top six schools

During an Instagram Q&A, Omari Abor was asked what his top schools were at the moment.

One of the top uncommitted prospects in the country is five-star edge rusher Omari Abor. The Duncanville product has the best schools in the country going after him.

During an Instagram Q&A, Abor was asked what his top three schools were at the moment. He doubled down, releasing his top six. Texas made the cut, alongside Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and USC.

Abor was in Austin recently, visiting during the BBQ/pool party event at the end of July. Steve Sarkisian will have to battle it out with Texas A&M and USC for his final official visit spot. He used four during the month of June.

Oklahoma being left out is quite a surprise, considering Abor took an official visit to Norman during June. The Sooners were the leaders for quite a while but are now in the backseat.

On the 247Sports composite, Abor is the No. 24 overall player and the No. 2 edge in the country. He ranks as the No. 6 prospect in the Lone Star State. If Texas can begin to chip away at Abor, he would be one of the biggest defensive end prospects in recent history.
