Twitter reacts: Bear Alexander commits to UGA football

Georgia football Twitter reacted to four-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander’s commitment to UGA.

The Georgia Bulldogs gained a commitment from four-star defensive tackle Keithian “Bear” Alexander. The Ryan High School (Denton, Texas) superstar helped his football team go undefeated and win a state championship this season.

On tape, Alexander shows impressive footwork for a 6-foot-3, 330-pound defensive tackle. Alexander is strong at the point of attack and quick off the snap. He has good pursuit and is very disruptive in both passing and rushing situations.

Alexander’s ranking varies depending on the site. Some have the defensive tackle as a four-star recruit and other have the class of 2022 player as a five-star. Alexander is the latest commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Alexander committed to Georgia over Alabama, Texas, LSU, Oregon, Florida and more. Here’s how Georgia football Twitter reacted to UGA’s biggest recruiting win on national signing day:

2022 five-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander sets commitment date

Five-star defensive tackle and Sooners 2022 target Bear Alexander will commit on Feb. 3. National Signing Day won’t be the only news.

National Signing Day is approaching on Feb. 3, and the Oklahoma Sooners will look to close out their 2021 recruiting cycle. The class sits at No. 10 in the 247Sports composite team rankings. That isn’t the only newsworthy item on the day. Five-star defensive tackle from Denton-Ryan, Bear Alexander has announced that he will make his commitment on this day as well.

Alexander was part of the defense that helped lead the Raiders to the Texas 5A Division 1 state championship. He played alongside Oklahoma Sooners signee Billy Bowman. Provided that Alexander makes his pledge to the Sooners, Alex Grinch, and Lincoln Riley, he will be the first defensive lineman to commit to the 2022 class.

Oklahoma currently has four commits with three wide receivers and one inside linebacker for the class in the early going. Alexander would have the fourth-highest grade among the current group of commits.

Texas Football Recruiting: Five recruits Steve Sarkisian must land

Without stepping a foot on campus, the intrigue of coming to play for UT has been reignited. Here are five recruits Sarkisian must land:

Tom Herman’s recruiting success came to a screeching halt during the 2021 cycle. And once Quinn Ewers decommited, the 2022 class was going to take a wrong turn as well. Despite finishing with three top 10 classes in three years, recruiting at an elite level was nearly dead in Austin.

Insert Steve Sarkisian, one of the top offensive recruiters during his time at Alabama. Without stepping a foot on campus just yet, the intrigue of coming to play for the University of Texas has seemingly been reignited. His reported staff is filled with top-notch recruiters on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

“We cannot let the top talent in the state of Texas leave the state of Texas,” said Sarkisian at his introductory Zoom press conference. It was something Herman was letting the Crimson Tide, Ohio State, and Oklahoma do on a yearly basis. Getting off to a fast start after the national championship is going to be crucial.

Texas Football Recruiting: Five-star Denton Ryan DT announces top 16

In the 2022 class, Denton Ryan has another star at the DT position in Bear Alexander. Texas has made the top 16 for the five-star.

Denton Ryan High School is producing some of the best in-state talents over the past two recruiting cycles. Five-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders signed with the Longhorns on Wednesday and four-star athlete Billy Bowman, a former UT commit, signed with Oklahoma.

Moving into the 2022 class, the Raiders have another star at the defensive tackle position in Bear Alexander. Rivals.com has him as a five-star prospect and the No. 3 player in the state of Texas.

Within his top 16, Oklahoma and TCU are the only other Big 12 schools to make the cut. SEC teams dominate with top programs such as Alabama, Georgia, and LSU within the mix. In-state rival Texas A&M, who is seen as one of the favorites in his recruitment, also makes the top 16.
