Texas Football Recruiting: Five recruits Steve Sarkisian must land

Without stepping a foot on campus, the intrigue of coming to play for UT has been reignited. Here are five recruits Sarkisian must land:

Evan Stewart

Position: Wide receiver

Class: 2022

247Sports composite rating: 0.9811

Analysis: From the 2017 to the 2021 recruiting class, there have been 46 total blue-chip receivers in the state of Texas. Four of those being five-star prospects. Names among them are CeeDee Lamb, Marvin Mims, Jalen Reagor, Jaylen Waddle, and Tylan Wallace. The Longhorns were only able to secure five of those 46.

Of the five in-state blue-chip receivers in the 2022 class, two are already committed (Caleb Burton to Ohio State and Jordan Hudson to Oklahoma) and one (Phaizon Wilson) has decommited from Texas. Four-star Evan Stewart out of Frisco Liberty is the top guy remaining and Steve Sarkisian desperately needs to secure his signature.

Stewart is the No. 40 overall prospect in the country and the No. 5 wide receiver. His ability to play anywhere on the field plus his track background would make him dangerous in a Sarkisian offense. Texas missed having a top wide receiver this season and would be one with Stewart.
