Texas Football Recruiting: Five recruits Steve Sarkisian must land

Without stepping a foot on campus, the intrigue of coming to play for UT has been reignited. Here are five recruits Sarkisian must land:

An elite 2022 offensive lineman

As mentioned when discussing Uke, one of the top reasons Herb Hand was not retained by Steve Sarkisian was his lackluster recruiting performance. The 2022 class not getting off to an impressive start either, already falling behind with the elite in-state prospects.

Devon Campbell (No. 1 OG), Kelvin Banks (No. 4 OT), and Kam Dewberry (No. 11 OT) are all prospects sitting in Texas’ backyard. New offensive line coach Kevin Flood knows a thing or two about drawing elite lineman from the state, convincing James and Tommy Brockermeyer to head to Alabama. Flood will now be tasked with trying to draw these three to Austin.

However, he will have some recovering to do. Texas is facing serious competition from Texas A&M for both Banks and Dewberry. They sit in a better position with Campbell but need to fully lock him up. Flood needs to hit the ground running and find a way to sign at least one of the elite in-state offensive lineman.
