Texas Football Recruiting: Five recruits Steve Sarkisian must land

Without stepping a foot on campus, the intrigue of coming to play for UT has been reignited. Here are five recruits Sarkisian must land:

Austin Uke

Position: Offensive tackle

Class: 2021

247Sports composite rating: 0.8715

Analysis: Recruiting on the offensive line under Tom Herman was underwhelming. It is the main reason offensive line coach Herb Hand was not retained by Steve Sarkisian. New offensive line coach Kyle Flood has the chance to slightly reverse those 2021 misfortunes by landing Austin Uke.

The once Holy Cross commit has been a late bloomer in the ’21 class. Since late October, schools such as Florida State, Penn State, SMU, and TCU have offered Uke. Texas was late to the party with an offer on Dec. 11.

Listed at 6-4 265 pounds, Uke would be a project for Flood to take on. However, with the offensive line recruits Hand swung and missed on throughout the cycle, Texas is in a position where they can take a project prospect. Uke would be a nice piece to add before February.
