Jets awarded three compensatory picks for 2024 NFL Draft

Jets get three additional picks in the upcoming draft, including the final two of the event.

The NFL officially announced the compensatory picks for the 2024 NFL Draft. The Jets were awarded three compensatory picks for the upcoming draft.

The Jets had been projected to receive three picks but the latest projections were that all three would be in the 7th round. The Jets received one pick in the 6th and two in the 7th.

The pick in the 6th round will be No. 218 while the two in the 7th will be Nos. 256 and 257, which will be the final two picks in the draft. That means, unless the Jets trade the pick, they will be selecting Mr. Irrelevant in this draft.

This gives the Jets eight picks in the draft, starting with No. 10 and ending with No. 257. The official draft order will be coming soon.

Thanks to his shrewd maneuvering and roster building, the Eagles are in line for four valuable compensatory picks in 2024, according to NFL.com draft expert, Lance Zierlein.

The Eagles played the compensatory pick game perfectly. They knew they would have a large number of players depart in free agency, and they didn’t add any projected qualifying free agents to the team. Philadelphia should receive the maximum number of picks, including a third-rounder for Hargrave.

The 2023 NFL draft is here, and the Eagles and 31 other teams will see their personnel change drastically.

After reaching the Super Bowl with a stacked roster, the harsh realities of the NFL have already gutted the roster after the first wave of free agency.

Seven key Eagles starters or contributors are joining other organizations, as T.J. Edwards (Bears), Javon Hargrave (49ers), Andre Dillard (Titans), Miles Sanders (Panthers), Kyzir White (Cardinals), Gardner Minshew (Colts), and Marcus Epps (Raiders) have all agreed to depart.

Philadelphia still has the top cornerback duo in the NFL and could look to add another Georgia All-American defensive tackle.

With the Panthers set to be on the clock; here’s an early prediction for the Eagles’ starting defense ahead of the first round.

Eagles compensatory pick update after losing 7 key contributors in free agency

We’re updating the Philadelphia Eagles 2024 compensatory picks after losing Javon Hargrave, Marcus Epps, Kyzir White, Andre Dillard, Miles Sanders, Gardner Minshew, and T.J. Edwards in free agency

The Eagles have mostly sat out the compensatory pick process in recent years while retooling and utilizing mostly homegrown prospects.

Philadelphia is the reigning NFC champion and with 19  initial free agents, Howie Roseman was primed to land a handful of 2024 picks thanks to talented players likely landing elsewhere.

The Eagles, as expected, lost Javon Hargrave to the rival San Francisco 49ers for a 4-year, $84 million deal. The team also lost Andre Dillard (Titans), Marcus Epps (Raiders), Kyzir White (Cardinals), Miles Sanders (Panthers), T.J. Edwards (Bears), and now, Gardner Minshew, to the Colts.

According to Nick Korte of Over The Cap, Philadelphia will net a third-round pick for losing Hargrave and six late-round picks for Dillard, Minshew, Sanders, White, Edwards, and Epps.

Compensatory picks aren’t a win-now thing that helps the Birds continue to compete in 2023, but the 2024 draft is looking like another opportunity to reload on both sides of the football.

15 free agents the Eagles can sign that don’t count against compensatory picks

We’re looking at 15 players the Philadelphia Eagles can sign in 2023 NFL Free Agency that won’t count against the compensatory pick formula

The NFL’s new league is less than a week away, and with the legal tampering period scheduled to start on Monday, Philadelphia will look to retool on defense, while making cost-effective decisions.

All-Pro quarterback Jalen Hurts and his contract is the biggest concern this offseason, but the Eagles will also need to navigate 19 looming free agents and the likelihood that they’ll lose C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Javon Hargrave and James Bradberry.

GM Howie Roseman has made it clear that he’s prepared to lose several key starters and he’ll retool via the draft with a handful of 2024 compensatory picks.

The formula is simple in nature.

If you lose more unrestricted free agents than you sign, you are eligible for that many compensatory selections. What round they come is determined by how big their contract is.

Roseman and other general managers can take advantage of the rule by signing players released before their contract expires. Those players don’t count toward the formula.

Plenty of players will be available to sign this offseason that can both help the team and not count against the formula.

Here are 15 players Philadelphia could sign that wouldn’t count against 2024 compensatory picks.
