Every running back Alabama has offered in the 2023 recruiting class

Looking ahead to the 2023 recruiting class: Offers made to RBs

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are known for winning games and championships, but before they can get there, the recruiting trail must be hit.

Alabama has a rich history, under Saban, as bringing in and developing some of the premier talent at all positions from across the nation.

One offensive skill position stands out above the rest. Alabama has seen two Heisman-winning running backs and countless backs be drafted in the early rounds in the annual NFL draft.

Looking ahead to 2023, the Crimson Tide has offered eight total running backs, ranging from a couple five-star prospects to a three-star recruit with limited interest in heading to Tuscaloosa.

WATCH: Five-star QB Arch Manning throws down a slam dunk

Arch Manning can do it all.

While everyone is worried about where Arch Manning will play football in his college career, the five-star quarterback is making stellar plays on the basketball court.

Manning displayed his athleticism as he threw down a two-handed slam dunk in transition, extending Isidore Newman’s early lead to 20-points.

The No. 1 prospect in the 2023 class has many big-name programs after him. The timeline of his commitment is unclear but Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss have stood out to Manning. It was even reported this week that LSU and Florida were starting to get into the mix for the Manning sweepstakes.

The entire college football world awaits a decision for Manning but it seems he is content showing off his athleticism and skill set on the basketball court for the time being.

Texas offers 2023 four-star defensive end Colton Vasek

Big time offer for the Austin native.

Texas’ 2023 class is still in its infancy, as the staff is still putting the finishing touches on the class of 2022.

However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking to add to the next class, as they have been sending out offers left and right to talented future seniors.

Texas hosted their elite Junior Day on Saturday, where some of the nation’s top prospects came to campus to visit and meet with the staff. Multiple offers came out of the visit today, and one of the more notable ones was to Austin native and Westlake product Colton Vasek.

The big-bodied defensive lineman is someone who the Longhorns badly want and need in order to help solve their pass rush problems. It may work in their favor that they signed his high school teammate Ethan Burke who played at the other defensive end position this past season as they helped lead their team to a state championship.

The list of LSU offers held by high school quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle

A total of nine quarterbacks currently have offers.

In the 2022 class, the LSU Tigers picked up one of the top quarterbacks with Howard Walker.

With the 2022 class coming to a close in the next couple of weeks, we are looking forward to the 2023 class of passers. Despite taking one quarterback in this past class, LSU will lose at least one quarterback with Myles Brennan’s departure following the season.

The very top passer in the class is Arch Manning, however, LSU is out of the running for the No. 1 overall recruit. Manning has focused on his top five choices that include Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas. The next quarterback on the list is Malachi Nelson, but he is committed to USC.

For Joe Sloan and the LSU Tigers, their pursuit of a quarterback might begin in Michigan with Dante Moore.

Four-star RB Cedric Baxter Jr drops top seven schools, Texas makes the cut

Texas is in the mix for elite running back Cedric Baxter Jr.

Cedric Baxter Jr, one of the top running backs in the class of 2023, released his top seven schools on Saturday.

Texas made the cut with the likes of Alabama, Ohio State and others. Baxter is rated by 247sports composite as the No. 4 running back in the country who has received 38 offers.

Andrew Ivins of 247sports compares Baxter to Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr in his scouting report:

A potential workhorse or feature back. The first one off the bus with his 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame. Could eventually push 230 pounds or more once in a college strength program. Played primarily safety and a little wide receiver before settling in as the starting running back at one of Orlandoā€™s top high school programs. Produced right away as a junior averaging just over 8.5 yards per carry while facing stiff competition week in and week out.

Landing Baxter would be the first big win for new running backs coach Tashard Choice at Texas.

Early look at the top Louisiana prospects in the 2023 class

The top 10 in-state players to pay attention to for 2023.

The LSU Tigers have a rough go of it in the 2022 cycle. It started in early September after LSU lost on the road against UCLA. Rumors immediately began to swirl and by mid-October, it would be a full downward spiral.

Just a couple of weeks before the early signing period they hired Brian Kelly away from Notre Dame to run the program. With a partial staff, he was tasked with keeping the top two Louisiana products in the state. Both Will Campbell and Walker Howard stayed true to their commitments and signed with LSU.

The 2023 class will be a completely different ballgame with Kelly having the full calendar ahead of him to work his magic with the upcoming class. For the most part, LSU can recruit itself but with more schools trying to come into the state, Kelly and Frank Wilson need to work on closing the borders.

Breaking down the early top 10 for the 2023 class per 247Sports composite rankings:

Texas among the top schools for five-star WR Jalen Hale

Five-star wide receiver Jalen Hale announced his top schools on Sunday.

It has been a while since Texas has received some good news on the recruiting trail, but they did receive a nugget to be positive about on Sunday.

Five-star wide receiver Jalen Hale, who 247Sports’ composite has ranked as a top-35 player in the class of 2023, announced his top schools via Twitter. The Longhorns are in dire need of receiver talent to compliment freshman superstar Xavier Worthy, and to eventually replace him after he inevitably heads to the NFL.

Hale seems to be interested in a variety of schools, including powerhouses such as Alabama, LSU, USC and Georgia.

As it currently stands, Texas has just one player in their 2023 class. The staff is doing their best to wrap up the class of 2022 along with seeking talented transfers from the portal in order to bolster the roster to redeem themselves after a dreadful 5-7 season.

Hale’s recruitment seems to be wide open, as he was once crystal balled to Oklahoma, but after the Lincoln Riley move it seems to have opened up, allowing for Texas to make a great impression while the Sooners recover and find a coach.

Texas receives crystal balls for 2023 four-star CB Jamel Johnson

247Sports crystal ball predictions pour in for 2023 CB Jamel Johnson.

When compared to rivals, Texas’ 2023 class has gotten off to a slow start. Five-star running back Rueben Owens was the only commit at one point but reopened his recruitment as prospects were allowed to take visits. Nobody has joined since.

Not to say Steve Sarkisian or his staff have not done a good job but the movement has been slow.

There seems to be a chance to land a commitment in the near future with four-star cornerback Jamel Johnson. Three 247Sports crystal balls were inserted in favor of Texas from Mike Roach and Nick Harris of Horns247, plus national writer Steve Wiltfong.

Johnson comes out of Arlington, TX, and Seguin High School. He holds 32 total offers, including six Big 12 schools and top SEC programs such as Alabama and LSU.

He would be a fantastic edition to get the 2023 class underway.

WATCH: Texas QB target Arch Manning runs for 68-yard touchdown

Five-star QB Arch Manning is beginning to shine in the run game!

The legend of Arch Manning as a prospect continues to grow. It feels like every week, he’s putting out highlight-reel plays for Isidore Newman High School.

Manning is ranked the top quarterback in the country due to his throwing ability. His pocket awareness, arm strength, football IQ, and accuracy are second to none. But where he has begun to shine is in the run game.

He showed off his wheels on Friday night, going for a 68-yard touchdown. Running a read option, Manning decided to pull it for himself. The five-star quarterback outran everybody on the field.

The announcer on ESPNU jokes as he was running, calling Arch a “mobile Manning” and that it “does not look like his uncles.” I’m sure Peyton and Eli both enjoyed the ricochet shot from the broadcast.

You can watch the full play here:

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was in New Orleans to see Manning play last week. One day later, he spent the weekend in Austin and was in the building for the Oklahoma State game.

On the 247Sports composite, Manning is the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 class. He will be in Oxford, Mississippi on Saturday to see Ole Miss face off against LSU. His uncle, Eli, will also have his No. 10 retired by the Rebels.
