Five-star QB Arch Manning opens up on his recruitment

Manning spoke about what stands out about each of his top schools.

No prospect in the 2023 class has attracted more attention than five-star quarterback Arch Manning.

Despite his superstar name and coaches from all over the country fighting for his commitment, Manning likes to keep his recruitment close to his chest.

Sam Spiegelman of On3Sports caught up with Manning about where things stand with his top schools. Manning is coming off of spring visits to Alabama, Georgia and Texas, but he told Spiegleman that trips to both LSU and Florida are also in the works.

An official decision timetable does not seem to be set in stone just yet for the five-star. Manning is doing his due diligence before selecting his future home,

It’s kind of getting closer. I don’t really have a point yet, but I guess it’s kind of narrowing stuff down. I’m looking forward to (making a decision) either before the season or during the season or after the season. If I was ready I’d probably commit right now, but I’m not, so I’m just waiting.

Manning spoke about what stands out about each of his top schools in the interview.

New On3 prediction entered in favor of Texas for five-star QB Arch Manning

Five-star QB Arch Manning reportedly set to visit Texas the weekend of March 24th

Arch Manning will be back on campus for a spring visit.

The top prospect in the class of 2023 will be in Austin the weekend of March 24th per a report from Inside Texas.

Five-star quarterback Arch Manning has been a frequent visitor around Texas’ campus, this time he will get a first-hand look at Texas’ spring practice.

While no one knows the timetable for Arch’s commitment, Texas has been in good standing with Manning from the get-go. Playing for a quarterback guru in Steve Sarkisian is a major factor in his recruitment. Manning wants a coach who can prepare him for the next level and Sark has a proven track record.

The Longhorns have been in talks to hire former Duke head coach David Cutcliffe as an analyst. Cutcliffe has a strong relationship with the Manning family as the former coach of both Peyton and Eli Manning.

Manning’s father mentioned Texas among six schools still under consideration in his recruitment.

WATCH: Five-star QB Arch Manning throws down a slam dunk

Arch Manning can do it all.

While everyone is worried about where Arch Manning will play football in his college career, the five-star quarterback is making stellar plays on the basketball court.

Manning displayed his athleticism as he threw down a two-handed slam dunk in transition, extending Isidore Newman’s early lead to 20-points.

The No. 1 prospect in the 2023 class has many big-name programs after him. The timeline of his commitment is unclear but Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss have stood out to Manning. It was even reported this week that LSU and Florida were starting to get into the mix for the Manning sweepstakes.

The entire college football world awaits a decision for Manning but it seems he is content showing off his athleticism and skill set on the basketball court for the time being.

Arch Manning’s recruitment heating back up after junior season

Arch Manning’s junior season is in the books. Now, it’s time for him to focus on his recruitment.

Arch Manning’s junior season is in the books. Now, it’s time for him to focus on his recruitment.

Clemson, Ole Miss, Texas and Tulane have been to Isidore Newman (La.) to check in with Manning since his season ended with a playoff loss to Lafayette Christian Academy. The coaches who made the trip were not able to talk with Manning, per NCAA rules, but talked with Isidore Newman’s coaching staff and watched Manning workout and take part in basketball practice.

LSU has yet to check in with Manning, but the hiring of Brian Kelly added intrigue into the Tigers’ pursuit of him.

“It was good,” Isidore Newman head coach Nelson Stewart told 247Sports. “Notre Dame was one of the first offers [for Manning]. He’s phenomenal at what he does. We’ll see who the OC is.”

Manning made game visits to Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas during the season. He also visited each of those schools during the summer and has been in frequent contact with them since the early stages of his recruitment.

Manning concluded his junior season with over 2,000 yards passing, 26 touchdowns to just four interceptions. He also rushed for eight touchdowns. Manning and Isidore Newman will have a good chance to get over the hump and win a state championship next season after making five straight trips to the semifinals, as Lafayette Christian Academy is slated to move up a classification.

Georgia fans want Arch Manning — badly

Georgia fans made it clear Saturday that they want Arch Manning to be a Bulldog one day.

Fans usually do their part to make a recruit feel at home during an unofficial visit, but not many can hold a candle to what some of the Georgia faithful pulled off for Arch Manning over the weekend.

Manning traveled to Athens on Saturday after his junior season debut to take in Georgia’s 40-13 win over South Carolina. Part of Georgia’s rabid fanbase was well aware that the five-star recruit was visiting for the game and sent a clear message that they want him to suit up for Kirby Smart in a couple of years.

The chances of that happening do not exactly seem slim — Manning’s visit to Georgia was not a courtesy one. The Isidore Newman (La.) product and nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning has taken a liking to Georgia’s coaching staff and Athens as a college town.

It’s safe to assume that opinion only improved after Saturday night.

“That’s definitely more of a pro-style offense than some colleges,” Manning told 247Sports before his visit. “I’m excited and coach [Todd] Monken is a really good coach and I think they’re going to have a good year and it’s going to be cool watching them in person.

“Athens is really cool. That was probably the best college town there is. Coach Kirby [Smart] has a good program. He’s a really laid-back, good guy and seems like a guy I want to play for.”

Alabama is next up on Manning’s list of schools he is visiting this fall. The Crimson Tide have made a habit of one-upping the Bulldogs in recent years and it would not be much of a surprise if their fans go even further to entice Manning when he comes to town on Oct. 2.

Arch Manning slated for multiple fall visits

Arch Manning is scheduled to visit Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas this fall, with a trip to Clemson possible as well.

Arch Manning will make his long-awaited return to the field in Isidore Newman’s season opener against West St. John (La.) on Friday night. After that, he’ll hit the road to begin what figures to be a busy fall of college visits.

Manning is slated to make multiple visits over the next two months, according to 247Sports. A trip to Athens to watch Georgia play South Carolina is first on the docket. Manning visited with Georgia’s coaching staff during the summer, making a strong first impression while he was on campus.

“That’s definitely more of a pro-style offense than some colleges,” Manning said. “I’m excited and coach [Todd] Monken is a really good coach and I think they’re going to have a good year and it’s going to be cool watching them in person. Athens is really cool. That was probably the best college town there is. Coach Kirby [Smart] has a good program. He’s a really laid-back, good guy and seems like a guy I want to play for.”

Alabama will get Manning’s second visit of the fall for its Oct. 2 matchup with Ole Miss — another school heavily involved in the 6-foot-4, 215-pound five-star quarterback’s recruitment. Manning’s first visit to Tuscaloosa during the summer was a successful one, as he spent time with Nick Saban and watched Bryce Young during a player-run practice.

“I’d love to be in a program like that, that organized with coach Saban,” Manning said. “That would be a dream come true.”

Manning will visit Texas two weeks after his Alabama visit to check in with former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and his Longhorns program. Sarkisian and his coaching staff immediately made Manning a priority after arriving in Austin and that has stood out to him.

After Texas is a return to a very familiar place, as Manning will be in Oxford to watch his uncle, Eli, get his jersey retired at Ole Miss on Oct. 23. The Rebels will host LSU, who is also pushing for Manning, on that day.

“Oxford is amazing,” Manning said. “Coach [Jeff] Lebby and coach [Lane] Kiffin are some of the smartest offensive minds I’ve ever met. I met with coach Kiffin, it seems like for four hours and he blew me away with his knowledge and they’re going to put up some points this year and I’m excited to watch them.”

Ole Miss is Manning’s last scheduled visit of the fall, but there is a chance he also checks out Clemson at some point during the season. Manning is also in frequent contact with the likes of LSU and Stanford.

“I think it will be next spring or summer,” Manning said of a possible timeline for a commitment. “It’s so hard to know or tell, I’m just taking it one day at a time.”
